Pinewood has pissed me off.   :(  No respect from them so fug em.

I need a new hotel.  Here is the objective:

Location:  MUST be inside the baht bus loop.  This means inside Pattaya North to Pattaya South, Beach road to 2nd Road.  I might wander off 2nd road a few hundred yards if everything else if PERFECT.  Preference is to be at the South end of town.

Room:

1)  The room MUST have a King/Queen size bed (no effing way two twins pushed together).

2)  Must have a bathroom where taking a shower doesn't wet the entire bathroom.  Prefer a walk in shower (don't give a damn about a tub).  BTW, the walk in shower with a seat for playtime with the TGs is a BIG plus. ;D

3)  Must be able to SLEEP.  No way one floor above a gogo bar or the like.   I can take a bit of noise but I'm there for 2 months so come on now.   ;)

4)  Either a large room or a hotel willing to store my empty luggage for me.  AND, willing to store my FULL luggage when I go home until I return.

5)  Security - must have a 2 key lockbox at desk and must show some interest in who comes and goes.

6)  Guest friendly.

7)  Small kitchenette area for mixing morning shake in blender.  Small fridge.  I don't ever really cook anything.  I already own the blender.

8)  Bigger TV is a plus.

What I DON'T need or care about is a swimming pool or room service or a restuarant or breakfast with the room.

I want a reasonable price.  If I can get all this in a really  nice place with good location I'll pay 30,000 a month.  Say, if Sandy Springs had a room that met this criteria.  If its all the way out at Pinewood  (and old like Pinewood) I wouldn't pay more than 21,000 a month.

So, place your votes guys.

jimmybcool,

The Bella Villa Prima on Soi 4 matches everything except it has in-room electronic safes.  You would get a standard or deluxe room at least for the rates you are talking about.  See pat809's review in the Hotels' section for all the info, pics etc.

You Yanks dont want too much!

Ever thought of looking in the hotel section or doing a google?

Have done/am doing both.  Ever thought maybe specifically listing your needs to a large group of like minded people might show alternatives not available?  ::)

Thanks Tom.   I have 20 hotels on my list so far including Bella Vista between Sois 7 and 8.  Never seen or heard of this one so maybe its the one.

Ummm Tom,

From the review it seems the price is a bit high for Bella Villa.  Around 1800 a night.  Even if they discount for a monthly stay I can't see it coming down to 30,000 a month.

Otherwise looks pretty good.

Thanks.  I think this is at the far end of walking street, and I probably don't want to be there.  Long walk in the AM with my golf clubs.  But, actually, might be OK go to 2nd and baht bus it.

And the price is certainly right.  Might be worth a look.  Like a lot of stuff in Pattaya, you really got to see it to tell what its like.

I got a quote of 25,500 for a month about a week ago at the Bella Villa which is located on Soi 4 across the Soi for the Hospital.  The Nova Park is still advertising special rates of 15,000 a month  and 18,000 a month for a studio and 1 bedroom suite on the Pattaya News.

Nova park quoted me (dates 25-1-04 to 25-3-04) 18K per month + bills ....cleaning 4K.......get fucked... do get to keep the cleaning girl in a cupboard 24/7?

They have no 12K studios available for the time i want

also the location is shit !

Still looking for a studio condo

Well, the list is growing.  Partly from the reviews here, and other sources.

I am down to the following:

Honey Inn - South Pattaya Road

Sabai Inn/Lodge - Soi 2

Welcome Plaza - 2nd Rd/Pattayaland 2

Beachview - Beach Rd/Soi 2

Charming Inn - Beach Road/Soi 3 (a leader)

Natural Beach Hotel - Beach Rd/Soi 11

Bella Villa - Soi 4

Lido Hotel - Beach Rd/Pattayaland

Esatiny - Soi  8 (leader)

Flipper - Soi 8

AA Pattaya Residence - Soi 13

Bella Vista - between Soi 7 & 8

J&P Court Hotel - Soi Diana

Sandy Spring - Soi 13 (leader)

It is always hard to determnnine based on photos.  And opinions vary.  Some people not used to Pattaya may be excited by ANY room for 600 baht  ;D

I like the ones on Beach Rd since I can get downtown with my golf clubs easily.  If I have to take them back (rarely) can do.  But usually after golf I am dropped off on Beach Rd so this is cool.  When at Pinewood I would have to walk up Soi 6/Yotsak with my clubs in t he late afternoon.  I think I've heard EVERY offer to caddy or clean my balls ever made.   :D

The Gardens are not in a good location IMO.  When I want to go golf, I gotta hoof my clubs sometimes.  I just don't care for the baht bus ride up the hill versus in town.  You might think no big deal, but you never stood on the side of the road with a golf bag.  The baht buses get weird like they smell money or something.

I'd rather be IN town.   ;D

Hey Jimmy don't bother with the LIDO..........there are better ST rooms! (unless its been decorated in the last 2 years...i doubt)

H

It has been redecorated.  A buddy just stayed there and said it was OK.  I like the location so I'll take  a look.

the sandy spring is next to the haven hotel

where its all about golf the owner will not see you

unless you carry golf sticks or whatever they are

I am an avid golfer.  And I know the owner of Haven.  I have no quarrel with him.  But, for other reasons having to do with loyalties elsewhere etc, I can not stay at Haven.  I can't and won't explain here and it is not a problem with the Haven.  Very complex.   ::)

Pity as Haven is the right location.

its right about the haven i was not advising to stay

there, but its like a golf club house.no problem with

that if you play golf i dont,

the room i had was smelly and a bit grotty so i did move

to sandy spring just after it opend  and its great.

but you will have to get a suite for what you want but

the standard rooms are fine but no walk in shower

or cooking .but do you really need to cook

in thailand

I don't really NEED to cook.  Really, all I need is a fridge to keep milk in, a place to put my blender, and a sink to rinse the blender out in when done.  Sooooooooo, a real kitchen isn't needed.  Hell, you can't walk 5 minutes in Pattaya without coming to a restaurant.

Sandy Springs is a front runner.  I wish their website offered more pics.  I saw the pics Bazzap put up and they  help.  I also looked there once this year but I think I got the idiot front desk clerk who couldn't comprehend I wanted to see more than one room.   ::)

I might actually may more for the suite but I want to  SEE it first.  Sometimes Thais can drive you mad with their lack of paying attention.

Jimmy,

Your choices sort of fall in line with my two top picks:

         Sandy Spring ( Soi 13 )

         Eastiny Place ( Soi 8 )

I believe that the Eastiny will be a little more spartan than the Sandy Spring, but quite comfortable nonetheless.

Howdy neighbor.  Arizona here.  I haven't been in Eastiny yet.  Just based on hearsay and reviews I have it as a contender.

The one negative to it is that if you EVER take a lady from Soi 8 between it and 2nd Road, you are doomed to going home forever more down Soi 7 and walking back around to avoid any static.  Not a killer since I don't usually prowl there.

In truth though, I would rather be closer to South Pattaya since I golf out of Lewisnkis on Pattayaland.  Lido is a definite contender based on a friends comments who stayed there a month ago.

Make sure you get the bigger rooms at the Lido.......

I know your no Newbie, but do check the rooms out

Maybe they have improved!?!

But i seem to remember its faults

Loud AC

Small TV

Lots of noise from people in the corridors

Low water pressure on the shower

Out of date beer in the mini bar

Ugly Maids that knocked on the door even with the DND sign on

No Lift (only a problem when i had a drunk TG to take to my room)

The better ones seem to have windows facing the Moo (lane) you walk down to get to the lobby

Location is great for action in South Pattaya.

Starbucks on the corner of the Moo is good and no matter how drunk i got i could always find my way back !

But i feel there are better out there.

Try SOI 13 with the Lek getting refurbed, Sandy Springs/ and two other new hotels being built in september one looked like a condo style place

H

PS i will be doing a mad scramble around the 25-01-04 as all the condo place's i want are booked or too mutt $$$

Let ya know how it goes

You are leaving out the Sabai Lodge without good reason.

I used to stay at the Eastiny, but on my last visit a couple/three weeks ago I chose the Sabai. You cannot escape the noise at the Eastiny. Also, they will charge you 300 baht for a second girl.

The Sabai is quiet, the rooms are nice and big, and the in-room electronic safe is a big plus. You can walk to the German beer garden to look for freelancers. And rates for massage, laundry, etc. are cheaper in this vicinity. And the breakfast, for 120 baht, is far better at the Sabai.

Maybe you should stay a night at the top 3 or 4 hotels in your list and post your thoughts!

It is on my list.  As Sabai Inn/Lodge.  I am very familiar with it as a friend stayed there when I was at Pinewood.

The reason it isn't on the leader board is location.  I spend most of my time in South Pattaya.  My golf buddies and drinking pals are all there.  I thought if I could I would get closer to that end of town.

But, Sabai Lodge is on the list since I know they do a good job.
