Have had an e-mail from emirates telling me about special offers for the year.

Just go to their web site and put in your dates.

I had one about 10 days ago with a special offer. It looked pretty good actually, 20% off all classes fly before end of June, book soon. It was of the form 'I see you haven't flown with us for a while'.... and there was a special web access link, and a one-time code for the promotion...some complex group of letters and numbers.

I was thinking great, biz class on the A380 for me.... :party

Left it in my Inbox and it has gone...... :clueless

Likely I accidentally deleted it, also gone from my Trash Folder, a search to see if I had moved it...nope, a 48 hour restore... nope. Bloody annoyed.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

20 GBP's more than what I booked for on Jet Airways. Layovers are 9 hours out and 7.5 hours back. Shit. No way I'd do that.

Well I certainly wouldn't take Jet for £20 savings, or a bit more. Those layovers are truly rubbish though unless you get the free Dubai stopover.

Just booked a Glasgow/Bkk return with them for later in the year. Worked out about £150 less than my normal Etihad fare from Edinburgh. (Biz Class £1938) Thought I'd give them a shot now that they have upgraded the 777/300 ER on the Glasgow leg. "Big Bassa" Airbus on the BKK legs, so that is fine.

The discounted fares are for selected flights during the whole and not just "up to June"

Perhaps a different offer.... perhaps I got it wrong...perhaps I meant up to June inclusive, but bargains normally dry up over the July/August holidays. Don't forget I fly ex-Thailand. I went on the Emirates site and no special deals available for me.

I guess you are buying your ticket in Thai baht Mick? If you originate at this (Thai) end, and pay say with a UK credit card, you will pay in £ but the price is originally in baht. The exchange rate is hitting hard now!

August...school holidays!

I know it is possibly a bit of a faff; but I was wondering if there would be any major savings by flying to say Brussels or Paris etc and then seperately booking on one of the budget airlines to UK; when paying from Thailand end? It should avoid the vile school holiday surcharges; as well as some of the more excessive airport charges in UK. <huh

Well they have school holidays at about the same time.

I believe the UK taxes are mainly on departure and do depend on your final destination. Problem is the risk, the budget carriers won't give a shit if they make you miss an onward connection. (Lyin Air and FlymayBe) You will likely have to go through immigration and collect your luggage too.

Probably of very limited interest here; but I have just changed my forthcoming return flight from Glasgow to BKK from Biz to First Class. These flights are in the "suites"for all 4 legs and was on offer at £3,560. Although seemingly expensive (I normally only fly 1st if I can arrange it as part of a work contract), this struck me as a good price for that type of accomadation, and most other airlines are charging double that for similar UK/BKK flights.

I agree. That price is not much more than regular Biz Class fares and for some carriers, less......I need a flight ex UK in mid July, which of course is peak pricing time. Prices on Etihad, Biz Class are coming up very high. I took a look at Emirates and found first class at just over them (but not as cheap as your fare). If I search 'by schedule' you can cherry pick the A380 flights. It will be breaking my cherry and my bank to pay for a First Class flight myself.
