Thipmanee 'TMN' cable TV

Recommended Posts

Is anyone here using Thipmanee 'TMN' cable TV

It has more channels than Sophon cable or Banglamung Cable, its cheaper than Sophon and Banglamung but is the programing any better, are there more movie channels and do they have Thai subtitles, how about sports and news

In short would you change your provider given the opportunity

Ill just skip to your last question,

I have Banglamung and its crap, when i lived in East Pattaya i had TMN and it was better, had more news, movie and sports channels and if i could change it where i ma - i would do so in a heart beat.

It is only available in certain parts of East Pattaya but it does have Sawaddee Pattaya Channel which plays lots of older comedies like Dads Army and it ain't half hot mum

I have Sophon and it ain't great.

Not having Thipmanee as well it is hard to compare..... it is a bit of 'the devil you know....'

The English Film channels are forever deteriorating, into a long run of adverts mainly for condo buildings. The local news reports seem to be deteriorating too, with out of date fuel/exchange rates and repeated news reports that are the same as the previous night.

Whoever manages these channel must be out to the pub as sometimes the films being played are bad copies, jump around and now and again you get the director's commentary rather than the correct audio track, plus a film might suddenly stop in the middle and be replaced by adverts. But that is to do with the channels available not the carrier.

Sophon has a moderate picture quality and generally they are quick to come out and fix problems, plus I got 2 free months last year.

The only thing that would make me switch would be if I could get regular (live) UK Premiership football, but that isn't going to happen for 3000 baht/year. True satellite costs too much for the amount of TV I watch... mainly news programmes. It is tuned to the Thai main channels (3, 5 , 7) more , they all carry those. As to the number of channels (65 I think), who cares, when am I going to need Russian TV or want to watch guys going round and round the holy Kasbah or a group of Sikhs playing strange instruments making an infernal racket.

Jacko , why not buy the True vision + box for about 1500 b ( one off payment ) get someone to fix a decent size dish and wire it down to your condo for you ( about a 1.5 m one will do you ) dish and fixing about 1500-2000 b , then you can get over 200 good picture quality channels free of charge and if you want to subscribe for the footie and films in high quality HD it's about 2000 b a month , beat's crappy cable tv hands down .

A tenner a week for all the footie you can eat...... :thumbup

I am paying 3000 baht a year and you suggest something costing me 24,000 baht plus hardware and installation charges?

I actually have 2 redundant dishes on the house already and returned a box that was in the house when I moved in because I got fed up of dealing with the morons who couldn't make it work.

200 channels...yeah like DTV (freeview) in the UK, mostly garbage.

I would only want to watch an odd game or two a week and I do see some on ESPN with sophon.

It was just a thought ! , i suppose 20.000+ a year more in rental is quite a big step up.... :yikes:

Except that True has lost the rights to to the Premier League.

Just get the CTH box then , same set up different provider , and it may be cheaper than True ! .

So there you go Jacko , you might be able to get it for a lot less than 24000 k......... :D

Oh I am sure it would appeal to a footie nut, but that isn't me, I would enjoy the odd big game and going into town is a bit too much effort.

I am having one of those expensive months where a few renewals and breakdowns have occurred, so am perhaps a bit money sensitive!

Cheers.

How much is that....I went to the website but it locked up my internet for 60 seconds.

It would be tempting if reasonable and I could tie in internet service too and get rid of TOT!
