I am going to be staying at the Residence Garden in mid Sept. I signed up for the FLB deal. Has anyone stayed there? How is it? I assume there are no problems bring up a TG guest.  Mojoman

I just checked in there yesterday, what a great place to stay.  Very very nice, I don't have any complaints, when I do my review I will give it high ratings.  If you are taking a baht bus to the hotel just get on the bus that is headed to Jomtien, RG is on the way.  Also there are alot of english speaking channels on the television.  You won't be disappointed.

cheers

Stayed there in July 2003. Was not impressed and will not stay there again. I've posted a review in the hotel section. (as of this time it is not published) If you arrive after 2330Hrs. stop of at a store and get some tea, coffee, suger and milk as they are not provided in the room and room service stops at this time.

Stayed twice in the last few months. Really good hotel and staff but just a couple of things which are making me consider alternatives for the next trip.

The food is not good. I don't know about the evening buffet but room service or by the pool it was very bad, inedible in one instance.

The location may not suit everyone. They have cards with the address and map on but the map shows the location from Jomtien, not from Pattaya as would be more sensible and some of the baht bus drivers don't know where it is.

Lastly, there is little close to it. If you need anything, you have to head int town. Same same if you want to get changed when in town, another trip back up the hill.

Overall, very good place and still very much in contention. Could do with a bath tub though.

Torrenova,

I am curious if the hill you mention on the way to Residence Garden is the kind that is easily walked, or is it a bit more severe, requiring some effort?  Thanks.

I plan to hike between RG and Walking Street several times a day if possible.

SoCalGuy,

The hill is easy. RG is about a 15-20 minute walk to Walking Street. Easy to get a ride back and forth. I've never stayed at the RG but I've been by it many times.

21 days ;D ;D ;D

The hill is not a worry. As you head out from Pattaya to Jomtien, there is a steady incline all the way up. The RG is about 200/300 metres up this and not a problem to walk. That said, just jump a baht bus - you'll be sweating like a pig if you don't.

The walk and hill will be no problem for you, but very few BG's or GGG's will want to do it.

I checked out three days ago, back home now :'( :'( The Residence Garden is very clean, great staff, great hotel.  It is not a bad walk from walking street and I never had a problem getting a baht bus.  I like the in room safe, I've stayed at many hotels in Pattaya and this is by far my favorite, I'm going to book my next trip soon and this is where I will be staying again.

cheers

I agree that the Residence Garden Hotel is one of the best in Pattaya. . .for the money.  Nice balcony with table and chairs and a pool view plus nice size rooms.  With the special price to FLB Bar board members I think it hard to beat.  I agree with kjvegas that the room safe is very well placed and a good quality one to boot.  My trip coming up will be my third stay at RGH and unless things change a lot there I'll be staying there a few more times after this trip.

What did you think of the pool at Residence Garden?  Is it large enough for some lap swimming?

To answer for kjvegas, I thought the pool there was great and as far as doing laps, I would guess it would depend what kind of a “lapper” you are.  But for most everyone it should be just fine and it’s very clean, always

30 days 10 hrs 51 mins 21 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting?

Yes, no problem with lap swimming it is a very big pool. I was in room 602 which is on the top floor overlooking the pool.  I've seen people doing laps.   You'll enjoy the Residence Garden, it's a great hotel.

FF29,

Have fun, wish I was going back soon.

5 months and 9 days and counting [smiley=banghead.gif] [smiley=banghead.gif]
