Looking for a good hotel with friendly guest polic

Recommended Posts

I will be in Pattaya in November, I'm looking for a good hotel up to $100 a night (I'm only going to be there for 3 nights, so I don't mind paying a bit extra, life's too short) but most of the reviews I have read on the expensive hotels say that they are not very guest friendly.  I'm looking for a good hotel with a good attitude.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Numan

Try the Hard Rock hotel.  It's guest friendly, on Beach Road, has a very nice daytime lounge/pool setup with live music.  It's so nice in fact that non-guests have to pay a user fee to enjoy the facilities (I'm talking about other farangs, not your guest).  The rooms are supposed to be also very nice.

Another alternative is the Penthouse hotel.  Not necessarily upscale so much as unique (boy, is that an understatement):

The rooms are done up as something out of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.  Except that there are mirrors on the walls, on the ceiling, a bar to hold onto at the head of the bed which itself is 3 feet off the ground, you get the idea.  And if you go for the “Penthouse Party Patpong” room, you get a disco dance stage, ’massage’ swing (a signed “not responsible for injuries” document is required for use) along with a Jacuzzi, mirrors, and the rest.  But wait!  You can get even more outrageous with the “Babylon Suite Triplex” (I’m afraid to know what more is included as my heart might not take it).  The mind boggles.  You’re not going to find many places like this.  Guest friendly you ask?  I think so.  The Penthouse doesn’t bother with ID checks.  Oh, and each room has an extensive supply of whatever you might be in need of:  toiletries, snacks, mini-bar, condoms, lube, stuffed toys.  There’s an orientation notebook that has, in addition to what’s going on in town and a restaurant menu, some heartfelt advice that perhaps using condoms is a good idea and attempts to cast light on the concept of ladyboys (I haven’t figured out where they fit into the spectrum of things so to speak, but then again, I haven’t figured out Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity).  Oh, oh!  Almost forgot.  The television has a closed circuit channel offering a view into the gogo on the ground floor.  Gogo girl room service is available.  I kid you not.

If you don't mind staying in Jomtien, check out the View Tally Villas where you would have your own private pool.   The Sunshine Vista Serviced apartments on Soi 3 are guest friendly.  Their Executive Suites are less than 2000 baht.

Unless you need business facilities, the best rooms and suites at the better mid range hotels are very good. In Bangkok, I usually insist on 5* places but in Pattaya, somewhere like the Residence Garden (available through this website), where all rooms are suites, easily suffices.

I am actually looking (in another thread) for a RG type place in the heart of Pattaya. The best I have at present is the Sandy Spring. They have suites for Bt2500 per day but if you become a member of the hotel at Bt350, they will discount the room for you.

The Marriott (http://www.marriott.com/epp/default.asp?MarshaCode=PYXMC) has good however quite small rooms but if you a a member and collect points, then it could be an option. People say that Marriot charges guests. That is crap but you may need to remind the hotel that he who pays the piper calls the tune. By the way, the Marriott has the coldest beer, in frozen glasses, served in the shade, around their great pool.

Torrenover,

did Sandy Spring tell you they would discount suite by Bt 350....... I specifically asked them and they said discount was only for the cheaper rooms and they would not discount the suite.   I think it looks like one of the best places in town so am going to give it a go.   Thanks

Try the Mark-Land on Soi 1 and Beach Road. Some of the reasons:

1) Fairly large well kept room. Nice size bathroom w/tub.

2) Good Air Conditioning

3) Each room has a balcony with an ocean view. Ask for and odd numbered room because they have a nice north to south view

4) Restaurant on the 27th floor with a glassed in 360 degree view. Nice place to start the day with breakfast and very nice place to have an afternoon drink and watch a sunset with a companion. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. Room rate is listed as 1400 Baht but negotiable.

5) Very guest friendly. Even if more than one guest at a time

6) Glass elevator which some of the young ladies have never ridden in

7) Quiet at night but near the bars on 2nd Road

8) Near Big C

9) A street width from the beach

10) Nice pool area. Never very busy so it is relaxing and has a beautiful view of the ocean

11) Friendly staff

12) Good size tv with a number of channels

I booked earlier in the year and negotiatied a rate of 1080 per night through Ultima Travel.

I have stayed there 4 years in a row for about a month at a time each year.

Just my opinion.

During the course of numerous emails to Sandy, they eventually mentioned their membership. The discount is not 350 off the rate, (1200 down to 990 for instance).

They said that the membership discounted all rooms. I did not specifically ask about the suite as I considered it too great a price hike from say Bt1200 to Bt2500 for a larger terrace and a walk in shower.

Thanks to you all for your advice, I have bitten the bullet and requested 2 rooms in the Penthouse for my buddy and I, damn you only live once and I have to give this a go, if they don't have the rooms I will fall back to one of the other hotels that ye have mentioned.

Once again, thanks all for your help.

Damn I can't wait now  :)

Sunny,

thanks, I have shot them another note to see if they will give me the same rate as "my friend" received, I think they probably have higher occupancy now so will say no change, but am giving it a go anyway.

Numan, you may want to take note of a few of the suggestions posted here, as a back-up plan,  Penthouse Hotel you will either love for short term porno experience or be so different from anything you have every expereinced you'll long for more "normal" hotel.   Cheers

Low season is up until the end of October. However, if you really want to stay there, it is unlikely that anyone else will book the suite so make them a walk in offer, or book a normal room and offer to upgrade at a price which suits you. I would be surprised if they did not consider it.
