I think that's a great price. Would I be able to hand back the car at Swampy or does it have to be returned to Pattaya?

We can collect/drop off the car at The Airport , please e.mail me with your dates for availability at: pattayagolf@hotmail.com

Thai cars don't have heat?

Some do. My Ford Focus has climate control. Set the digital temperature and it heats or cools as needed.

I'd imagine it's impossible to get a new car without cooling/heat.

Heat is often an optional extra that you will have to pay extra for.

It's quite easy to get a new car without a heater.

I cant get a car without air if I wanted it. No need for it where I come from. ( just like Briton)

I figure many cars are 'world cars' and most come with the same basic features.

My first brand new car did not have air conditioning. I was young, skinny, and I refused to pay $800 extra for A/C on a Nissan Sentra that cost only $5600.

You don't need a heater much in Thailand, but there have been a few times over the years (esp in Issan) where I'd have liked to have it.

I also was unaware that you could buy a car without a heater. Of course it makes perfect sense not to have one if there's no need.

They can be useful when your engine is running hot or overheating. Turning the heat up full helps cool the engine by radiating heat from the heater matrix. Only a temporary fix because you will be sweating your bollox off inside the car even with all the windows wound down.

Not sure why a heater wouldn't be standard today except for a Corvair which actually used a separate gas fueled heater. Modern cars just add a small radiator to the coolant loop and hot air is collected off of it. Another piece of advice learned the hard way. Don't put "Stop Leak" in the coolant to fix a radiator leak.

The old Volkswagens just wrapped a pipe around the exhaust to collect heat. Problem there was that when the exhaust developed a hole, carbon monoxide got into the cabin. Which happened on mine, which might explain a lot of questions.

I live in the boonies of Loei province. Evenings in the winter get damn cold. The worst part is the windshield steaming up if you don't have a heater and defroster. My truck has neither a heater or defroster. If I'm going to be out and about late at night, I always take the car.
