Cam timing issues can cause pistons and valves to impact each other. That is generally not good.

It can be a timing issue not the belt i.e. the post says cam if it was the belt it would have snapped, to me its not set up right or timing on the distributor....!

Sorry, this is a diesel engine, it doesn't have a distributor. It also doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain.

has a diesel distributor that puts the right amount of diesel to the right injectors....
