Changing of the guard, taken today (5th) at Horse Guards Parade in London.
Its one of those tourist things that you have to see at least once in your life, if your here in London on holiday that is.

I like these ancient ritual traditions that are done so well in the UK.

Is this one still free or is there a £35/head charge like many other things in London? :D

Nope, still free for the time being.

Those fancy dress costumes don`t seem very practical.

I think you will find its normal, traditional, ceremonial parade dress for House Hold Cavalry, but then I'm sure you knew that but just thought you are being funny!

Jacko, yes still free, at least last time I was there.

firth 1974, thanks for all your London photos. They bring back nice memories to me.

Great photos, thanks!

I first saw the Changing of the Guards when I was 16 and the memory of it has remained vivid ever since.

Good pics of these splendid troops. People tend to forget that their role is not just ceremonial, they are Guards, have a very longstanding regimental tradition of bravery and resilience, and are proud, tough chaps.
