The wind was howling as I walked along Beach Rd……..It seemed to say to the coconut trees……..'Hang on to your nuts boys……This isn't yer regular blow-job"

I recall being in front of the Central Festival when the wind got up once and advertising boards were blowing around like odd-jobs bowler.

  • 3 weeks later...

On a serious note..(for a change).

Pattaya claims to be a world class resort……And from my perspective that's true…..But..

In the past most of this current heavy rain would have fallen a month earlier during the low low season, when few tourists are around to witness the weaknesses in Pattaya's drainage system……And the holes in it's roads….

This time they've been caught out………It's hard to claim world class status when tourists can see for themselves Pattaya's fundamental inadequacies.

It's in all our interests to unblock the drainpipes bricked up by beach businesses………..To take the carpets and cardboard covers off of the man-holes and deal with this recurrent problem with a proper and cohesive plan.

I doubt all that many of the tourists here will be back next October…….and word goes round…..

Russia, China and India probably have a ways to go before their populations have all experienced a bad time in Pattaya.

There are some regular floods and landslides in the latter two anyhow.

I not really agree. October is the most rainy month at Pattaya.

Yes we should have had more rain in September, and months before,

but October this year is nothing exceptional, and still below what rainfall should have been.

The water level raised about 70 cm

but still 2 meters below what it should be :(

and about 3 meters below the "full" mark.

Saw this vid on youtube, the first strike of lightening made me jump probably more than him lol!.

That was a storm front of some size, even by SEA standards. I remember back in 2011 I ended up "stranded" on Soi Photisan during an awesome few hours of rain (it flooded out Soi LK Metro, Bukhao and the underground car park of a nearby hotel where another mate had parked his car... he came back to find it had floated a few meters... ).

Luckily for me I was at a friends house and ended up staying the night. didn't get much sleep cos the rain was horrendous (usually in the RP I've got a steady supply of Earplugs for such occasions).

Anyway,

yeah my Mrs returned telling me of flooding in Naklua and Pattaya, at the house we just had a little rain and a few frightening thunderclaps.

Rainy season swan-song let us hope! Is the lake full enough for the boat races yet? When will that be?
