Samui Airport Tax info

Recommended Posts

After visiting this most beautiful of airports I can now confirm the exact position regarding airport tax.

If you are flying domestic then it is 400THB, if you are flying International it is 500THB with nothing more to pay at Don Muang BKK.

International transit passengers have to wear a stick on badge and are taken off the aircraft at BKK direct to the International terminal.

I was spending 2 days in BKK so I had to pay twice, 400 to leave USM and 500 to leave BKK. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

sparkey,

The 400 Baht charge is an Airport Maintenance Fee, not a tax.  Samui is a privately owned airport, as are Sukhothai and Trat.  They are owned and operated by Bangkok Airways.  IMHO the extra fee is worth it (100 Baht at Sukhothai) just for the privelege of travelling through Samui or Sukhothai - I assume that Trat is designed to similar standards.

Cheers Tom ,

I'm in Hua hin From the 23rd of next month . I was considering whether to go back to bkk an fly to samui

or go overland and take a ferry.

If it's going to cost an extra 800 bt on top of the return airfare I think I'll be going overland.

sparkey,

Just chill out and get the train down to Surathani from Hua Hin and then jump on the ferry over to Samui.  It's a great trip and gives you a good look at Thai life along the way.

Regards,

Tom

Tom ,

That's what I'm thinking of doing . The other option is

going to Chumphon. Then getting a boat to ko tao and another boat to Samui from there .

I'm trying to find out the quickest way at the moment although the two ferry trip sounds good . I've always liked being on the waves.Any ideas , suggestions would be and always are gratefully received.

My return flight was on the jet aircraft, MD 95 or Boeing 717 or DC 9 or whatever you want to call it.

Bonus 1 was I asked for window seat and I finished up with window/exit row so that was cool.

Bonus 2, the runway at USM isn't the longest, so it was full power take off with a very steep climb out, great stuff. [smiley=1luvu.gif]

Thatch Roof, open air terminals with free internet service and Bangkok Airways provides a snack bar with limited items {free}. It has a currency exchange like any other airport with an ATM also.

Once you go there you will understand what we are saying...

Greg

Thanks for reminding me, Bangkok Airways provided FREE cold Juices, also had the english Premiership football on the TVs.

I have just looked at my ticket stub,it is a British type  'Stealth tax', the correct name is

'Passenger Service Charge'

Great Airport.
