Stupid Question

I need some help. I am flying EVA out of Seattle on November 20, scheduled to arrive in TPE at 7:45 with a connection to BKK leaving at 8:30. Every morning I check EVA website for flight status, and it seems that about 1 out every 4 flights arrive early enough for me to catch the connecting flight. I have to be in BKK before 5 PM. The airline says they will put me on another flight of thiers or a competitors to get me to BKK on time. My stupid question is, say for example, they send me thru Hong Kong on EVA, and then I switch to say Thai to BKK, do I have to retrieve my luggage, go thru customs and check in at Thai or will they move my luggage as though I am on a connecting flight with EVA. I hope this makes sense.

I take it you must have booked these flights yourself as airlines will not allow such a short transfer time. I think the minimum is 90 mins.

 

If they did indeed book the 2 flights together and if you miss your connection, ask them to put you on the next plane by any airline (e.g. Air China) to BKK.

 

I would contact them before you go, like today.

 

I would also be very sceptical as to whether my baggage would make the connecting flight, even if you did. There really is not enough time and you could end up in BKK with no clothes. Take something in carry on.

Yes I booked thru the airline. EVA's minimum is 40 minutes.

 I only fly EVA and I had that problem once, I had a very short layover in Taiwan.  They told me no to worry about it because if the flight from America is runing late they would wait, they told me there are probably alot of people on your same flight from America.  If you want to call EVA the toll free # is 1-800-695-1188.  

If you do get stuck changing airlines they would put your baggage on the correct airline, each airline has a different code, just like each airport has a different code. I think you will have nothing to worry about,  most likely you will be flying to BKK on EVA, they run a great airline.  Have fun. ;D ;D

I've never experienced a big connection problem with EVA Air.  They're not really a big airline and know when their flights are running a little late.  They almost always delay the TPE-BKK leg if others are running late.  I've been delayed an extra 15-30 minutes waiting for the NYC/SEA flight to arrive, so it has happened to me.

 

I can't exactly remember what the flights are, but last time I was in TPE I noticed 3-4 flights going to BKK in that 0800-0900 time period (2 BR, 1 CI, 1 SQ).

 

I wouldn't worry at all about missing the connection.

If you do miss your connection and have time to kill there is a free shower in the Tapei airport.

Can I get your bag out of a 747 "pod" and put it on another flight...?   First, you have to tell someone , who then has to call or send a message to another area, who in turn has to notify someone else to look for your bag...

 

They may take it to the local claim area, it depends on there policy...

 

Actually, it probably won't happen , I'm just being honest with you...
