Residents and regulars, how was rainy season?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick inquiry to residents and regulars. How was the rainy season. Over a couple of years, we've all watched the reservoir's water level keep dropping. I wonder if this was a "good" rainy season that may have reduced the water deficit.

I was there for two weeks in late sept / early October and managed to get wet a couple of times, more by luck than judgement, but the rainfall was nothing compared to recent years. There was some fairly heavy rain on the day I left but I didn't see any flooding at all, anywhere during my stay.

Apart from the tail end of a tropical storm in mid september, our part of the Philippines (Metro Manila) has also been relatively dry, and again, 2016 seemed to be hotter and dryer than any year I care to recall.

I was out of the country for October, but a few friends have told me it was very wet.

Personally, looking at the news reports of flooding in the Pattaya area I still believe it has been less than many years past.(2015 was dry).

I don't believe the infrastructure has improved reducing these events, and I have yet to be trapped by rain and flood-water this year as I was about 4 years ago, and many other years.

From what I could see (some of the time it rained while I was sleeping), the storms were frequent for a few weeks in October, but none were so strong that they caused the kind of flooding we've seen in prior years.

The rains seemed to rotate around the clock during this period...mornings for several days, then afternoons, then evenings...usually beginning just as I was about to go somewhere!

Just having a surprising rain shower here, I wonder if this is the last for a while.

I haven't heard of any barnstormer flooding in downtown Pattaya. not the wade-through-the-snakes kind of flooding.

I doubt the infrastructure is any better. I guess we've been lucky.
