Etihad any good?

Hi

Has anyone had any experience with them, either to and from BKK or elsewhere?. I'm probably going to be using them to MNL later this year as the fare is cracking and I'm a tightwad.

I've used them a few times from Manchester to Bangkok, they are OK. I prefer Emirates but have used Etihad when their fares have been several hundred pounds cheaper. I know a few guys who do 3-4 trips a year who now use Etihad because they get a better deal both in terms of fares and airmiles.

Flown with them twice....first time wasn't too impressed.... second time got upgraded to biz class on the return between Abu Dhabi and Manchester so thir standing with me improved a little bit, but their 23Kg allowance on the cheap fares puts me off a little bit.

Daughter is flying with them in August as she heading to Phitsanulok for 2 weeks She is spending 2 weeks with a midwifery unit at a hospital there - Etihad was coming in at the best price....

Yes I have flown them several times and found them okay.

My only gripe was that I always landed and took off from different terminals in Abu Dhabi and the transit was a bit of a zoo.

I too am directed by price, although having so many daily flights between Manchester and BKK, Emirates (and their A380) have been winning out.

Good stuff fellas and thanks. They're currently coming in at less than 50% of what Cathay are :yikes: and as I might be buying 3 tickets, that is a massive saving. We've used Cathay for years and years but their price point is becoming ridiculous now and has gone from being a premium to a disproportionate cost when compared to others.

Emirates might be an option, I've used them before as well and don't mind them at all, but DXB is a bloody faff when transiting.
