I'm wondering why EVA have switched their configuration. Well, I know why, it's about money and increased revenue and they , along with Thai and BA have the only direct BKK services out of LHR (4 services a day, 2 Thai, 1 BA 1 EVA).

 

Given the cost involved they won't revert back, and I'm willing to bet that the revenue lost from "picky" guys like us who are changing to Thai from EVA for a better in flight experience is possibly minimal compared to the pax going to Taipei who will still use the service (Chinese).

 

I'm 100% with Gus on this one, EVA have been consistent in worsening service. I thought they had "upped" their game a bit on my last couple of trips, but I think that was largely down to having a very pro active Cabin Crew. Get a busy plane and the Cabin crew having their periods and life will be pretty shite for the 11 hours I'd imagine.

Yes, it's a shame as they have upped their game in other areas. For example, the food I had on Tuesday's flight was probably the best ever. The IFE is good, as is their phone app.

My main reason for changing from Eva to Thai was that BR067 and 068 were always very well loaded and now there are extra seats and less toilets it is not something to bring me back. I first flew on Eva in Evergreen Class (Elite/premium Economy) the fare was not a great deal more than the economy fare, alas quite a lot more now.

Some BMs will remember the 1/2 Cargo version of the 747, maybe Thai will bring them back to carry more rice for Qatar.
