Lot of long fuzzy useless discussions and suites of wrong questions/answers would be avoid if people were using the correct vocabulary. Mainly true on ThaiVisa where very often the question is not what his writer wants to ask!

Apart from the fact that it's not a Visa, how did you get one without a number ??

As far as I know, every Visa, Extension, Work-Permit, Re-Entry permit, etc. has a number !

As i said above i use the number off of my re-entry permit as told to me by the immigration officer.

Sorry for confusing you. i didn't realize i needed to be so explicit. Next time i will use the phrase "non "o" visa based on marriage for those few that never of heard of such common terms like marriage visa or business visa. FFS even at immigration you ask for marry visa application or ekasan visa panrayaa thai.

Although it is a good habit to be precise when importing information........I can envisage some people wandering round the forest saying to the owls it's 'Whom whom'

If I get into any discussion with someone over 'Retirement Visas', my first question is to ask whether they mean a Visa or an Extension. Then we know what we are talking about and I can be accurate, they are starkly different. The fact that Thai Immigration, Visa Consultants and most Expats use the wrong terminology is simply what it is, like many people write bath when they mean baht, or quite when they mean quiet, or visa when they mean versa (sic)!

True....Or licence when they mean license.

There's no need to apologise for being correct. It gives an authority to your words.

But some people on the one-hand will quibble over the need for accuracy......When for example the TM6 asks for a 'visa number' when it's a re-entry permit number that's required .........insisting this is something we shouldn't bother ourselves about. And yet in the next breath they say if only 'correct vocabulary' could be used it would avoid 'useless fuzzy discussions'

Ah well...... I think the TM6 question is done........Now if my pedantic 'Whom whom' joke isn't funny.........Perhaps the intellectual challenge of this one will be better received......probably best if you're British for this one.

Q: Who led the pedants' revolt?

A: Which Tyler.

This one is not a fault, just UK people who keep using Licence

My Thai DL clearly indicate "Driving License" B)

My new 5 year DL purports to be a "licence". I'm reasonably certain the previous 2 year document was a "license". A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Never mind 'new' TM6 card, the aim is to eliminate them.

As part of the new system, the Immigration Bureau will cancel the use of the Immigration 6 form and instead use e-passport data, Kongcheep said.

Foreigner database to be ready in six months.

Don't concern yourself.....

That was a reference to posts #13 and #14 in this thread..... and a dig back at Jacko.

British English differentiates between the spelling of the noun and the verb......American English doesn't. My brilliantly composed reply to an earlier post from you was slapped down to size after he'd noticed I'd gotten the noun and the verb confused.

  • 2 weeks later...

On the new tm 6 forms after you clear immigration you will only have a smaller departure card part of the form left. When they ask for that tm 6 number it is the number right under the bar code.
