Hi,

No TG's for me :crying

Family holiday, me the wife and our eight year old are staying at the Montien Pattaya for 10 nights in August this year.

We have travelled Thailand alot and want quiet, but the BUZZ on our doorstep.

We liked Krabi, Phi Phi was absolute boredom, Patong (Phuket) was BRILL and Samui some where in between.

Any thoughts on the hotel or a "family" holiday in Pattaya would be appreciated.

TMD ;)

I think the Montien is situated on 2nd Road close to the Hard Rock Cafe.

I've never stayed there but the Montien group of hotels have a good reputation so you should be OK there.

I think you will find Pattaya somewhat different to Krabi,Phi-Phi or Samui. The nearest equivalent to where youve stayed is Patong but Pattaya is much much larger.

Beaches here cannot be compared to the islands....probably the best is at Jomtien,3 miles away or Naklua,a few minutes drive from your hotel.

For a family holiday in the day you could try Pattaya water park,on the road to Jomtien,Nong Nooch village,Sri Racha tiger zoo and Dolphin show in Naklua.

Theres plenty of good restaurants in Pattaya of every food type.Bars where you could take the missus and your son would include the Hard Rock Cafe,Hopf bar near Walking Street and the Blues Factory just off from Walking Street.

But when you come to Pattaya surely youll seize the opportunity to send the wife and kid shopping whilst you do a bit of exploring ?

Theres some decent soapy suds body massage places located near Big C on 2nd road, loads of go-go bars on the pedestrianised Walking Street and hundreds of bars located everwhere........and if you are a nice respectable family man at least now youll have some idea of places you mustnt go wont you !

If you look in Hotel reviews, Pattaya/1000-2000 you will find reviews of the Montien including my recent one.

If you are going with the family, you should be OK, my main gripe was the 800 guest fee.

The bedrooms are OK, the bathrooms need a re-furb, the grounds etc are quite nice.

In the room is a list of the room inventory and how much you have to pay if anything goes missing.

For a family holiday you will be OK but search around if you have not already booked.
