Having got so pissed off last month with all the crap at the Haven and the noise in Soi 13 I checked out some of the rooms in Soi Yamato in the hope of finding something decent.

I stumbled across the Yates bar and was surprised at the quality of their rooms, brand new refurbished with decent aircon and ceiling fan, shower with plenty of hot and cold water, large fridge, TV with all the cable channels and plenty of space in the room.

I was quoted 500bt a night but was told the price would be negotiatable for weekly stays or longer and to me this is a decent place to stay if you're on a budget. Good English food is available over the road at the Ritz and there is very little daytime noise unlike the building site on Soi 13.

Here is an email contact if anyone is interested in booking a room

Sounds like it might be worth checking out. So Roland, what took you so long to get upset with the Haven ? Stayed there 2 times and never wanted to go back. Owners family was so damn noisey at breakfast {0730}, that you had to get up, no way could you sleep in. Of course the owner has a personality of a rock.

Well, we both are right about the Haven, it's turned into a buddy thing with Stephan {owner}. As long as your his "bud" everything is great. But for those normal clients it a different story. I really like his pool and location. The food is very good also.

But I compare him to Bert @ the Queen Victorian Inn/Lord Nelson and there is no comparison. Bert is hands on and has a great personality. You see him during breakfast and lunch and he is talking to his hotel guests, sitting down with them. Later in the day, he will buy them a drink and joke with them. Sure he doesn't have a pool, but he can get you a pool pass to the Hard Rock Hotel. Seems to me Bert must have been one of us at one time and he knows what we like in a Hotel/Pub

But to each his own, I'm very content to go to Berts place and hangout there.I never would have tried it, but was convinced by kjvegas to give it a try, as he seems to really like the place. Now, I see why......

I stayed at the Haven since it first opened but last year tried the Sandy but someone told me the Haven had improved but it hasn't.

It's in a great loacation if there wasn't the fucking building going on and the pool is good but it's just all the hassle and shit you get there.

Only 4 or 5 rooms but as it is low season there should be a vacancy or two plus it's next door to a gogo with a couple of decent sorts in there and just up from a couple of ST bars.
