  1. I got a refund to my CC wrt my missing China item, using a dispute with Ali Express... dealing with the Chinese guy was a pain, language barriers and he seemed to think I should close the dispute despite not having received the goods and he said he had sent them. I have used Ebay when the item originated from China and postage was free (small items) and once ex-UK on a must have item and paid about US$8-9 shipping.
  2. I have often felt Insomnia are a law unto themselves.

  4. ATM/Debit Card Annual Fee is 200 baht, no other regular charges.
  5. I have had a hit and miss record having stuff shipped into Thailand using both Ebay and Ali Express. Out of 5 items last year, 3 arrived fine, (UK and China origin) and one caused me a lot of aggravation and seemed to vanish or was turned back in Bangkok. Another box was sitting in the Naklua post office and the postman lied that he tried to deliver and left a note in the box. ( I went and got it). Things took 10-15 days. Rather poor odds of getting stuff. Lazada use COD which might work better.
  6. Weren't some of the GGBs subject to complaint and told to remove 'low' signs that were obstructions out over the street recently? Maybe Peppermint was the only one that decided to get on with it.
  7. The UK will launch a 24 hour priority service for UK Visas March 31st. But you will need some cash handy..... The Super Priority Visa Service for all visit customers and some work categories takes 24 hours only and costs £600 (B31,200) on top of the standard visa fee. Source
  8. A pleasant early morning rain shower....

      nkped

Think we missed that in Jomtien.

  9. I saw a news article how many Pattaya celebrities attended a birthday party for this guy. Any guesses?
  10. I stayed a few days there some years ago, it seemed to have a bit of a backpacker/hippy element to it. I ended up in a small village a little further North called Pang Mapha, Found a wonderful guest house and stayed in a little house in a tree, over the Lang river valley. I still remember the great coffee in the mornings. Its a great area to tour. Thanks for the memories.
  11. Well you could say that about Sizzlers!
  12. Gandhi
  13. It isn't that much, in fact if you are in the same region you may be allowed some for free. This suggests 20 baht..... Link
  14. You misunderstood or I was not clear. Aren't all the ATMs belonging to a particular Thai bank, ie yellow, or pink or blue and orange etc. That is why you see a long row of several machines in malls. Whether there are differences in machines utilised by a particular bank brand is another point, albeit interesting. It means it doesn't always matter whose machines you use. Anyhow, my local card has a chip in it and I believe I have to use Bangkok Bank ATMs exclusively, and they seem to be giving the most notes out anyhow.
  15. Teelack I think he is talking about any purchase of goods/services when using a credit card not paying off the cash advance. He would pay his cash advance off in £stlg as that is how it would appear on his statement, likely get onto internet banking soon after and pay it from his Sterling account with the same bank that issues the CC. When I bought some duty free in Dubai, for example, with my UK CC, they offered me the choice of paying in Dirhams or £. DrPat says pick local. Maybe they even offer you that choice with a cash advance.........personally I have not tried that (I am old fashioned, credit cards used to start charging interest immediately on cash advances at a high rate).
  16. I have had that thought too, although I don't think I would be having breakfast.
  17. The 39 steps
  18. With varying maximum withdrawal!
  19. Flaps down all the time!
  20. Experienced with handling the joystick too I expect.
  21. But aren't all the ATMs in Thailand bank specific?
  22. I was going to ask how you whizzed back down from Laos and got out and about so quickly. I have a rose apple tree and was getting concerned as the lack of rain meant young fruit was dropping off and I figured another year of hardly any..... but the rain fixed that, the weight of water and fruits broke off the best branches yesterday!
  23. Some much welcome rain, caused floods of course and broke branches offf my tree.

  24. No, actually, further South. Not between Soi Yamoto and Soi Post Office. Between Soi Post office (13/2) and Pattayaland 1 (13/3).
  25. To be honest Gonzo I would be quite pleased for that to happen, I might well put my card in twice and get a thick wad of 500's . Always seem to be short of change and find the 500s more useful!
