  1. One of your girls told me the other night that there was a big 'fine' for not coming to work over Songkran... You bought yourself off?
  2. Yes, it does say up there ends 13th! I stopped using them when I had rather poor experiences at Manchester...... and I found Etihad better, plus they offered limo transportation. At least my booking is not during Ramadan, another time I experienced very poor service on Qatar. As I stated, the price was so far below Etihad and Emirates it was an offer I could not refuse, and it appears to be A380 to and from BKK.
  3. This wasn't at the balcony, and I saw him do it at 2 different places. He has always eaten like that, no pattern left on the plate type of guy.
  4. We have the heat now, breezy too.

  5. Restriction is.. Book by 13th March 2015 for travel up to 10th July 2015. I just got a good deal on a Biz Class flight BKK to UK coming in many tens of thousands of baht below the carrier I normally use. No limo provided but I can pay for a taxi from the savings. Take a look but be quick if you are thinking of a trip.
  6. Business hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  7. I recalled this post recently as I watched an old friend demolish with relish a bowl of Tom Yam Khung....... There was nothing left, nothing, no shrimp casings, bits of lemon grass, chunks of ginger root, nothing. I must try him on ribs.
  8. I have done a couple of trips into town from the North early evening in the last week and been pleasantly surprised that things weren't too bad! I came South up Sukhumvit and went onto Nua then 3rd Rd. This may well be very time dependent, it always seems very busy in the morning. There is also the factor that the Thai schools are closed now and this reduces traffic substantially. (Some anyhow). I did do a trip to Rung Ruen bus station, and you have to be aware that there is no right turn off Nua to the station now...seriously blocked off. I came via Photisarn, but the delay from there to the Nua/3rd lights via the small 3rd Rd bit is long. Things aren't very quick down Nua back towards Sukhumvit, there is always some twat parked up slowing things down. One thing to note, at the back of Rung Ruen bus station there is a gate which they have now opened, and the buses get in that way....you could too if the guard isn't being difficult. I drove out that way and was glad of the short-cut...... things had been frustrating up to that point!
  9. Yes I heard of this plan too...... in the interim between the 2 tunnels I am not sure there will be much benefit. A tunnel that gets you past Tai and Threppasit junctions I do see as a good idea. If the motorway exit flyover was not in the way (in hindsight I wonder if that was a bad idea and no long term planning involved), then an elevated road from North of Nua, to beyond Soi Watboon would have been my thoughts. Non Pattaya traffic is in the way.
  10. Of course that then means that water will flood back at the bottom of entrance and exit ramps onto Sukumvit, possibly taking it over the kerbs and into the buildings. I shall open a sandbag shop.
  11. The one PoolHustler was selling..... I have rented a bike from him and he was trying to sell me the car too!
  12. About $4000 using a Star Alliance Round the World!
  13. It was round at my house the other day.
  14. Hi Gonzo, thanks for the report. This has got me thinking it is time I got my Mrs registered at a Pattaya hospital, as one day we may need her to visit. Taking her to the BHP may well put me in their cardiac unit. One problem she always tells me is she is still registered as being in Issarn. Where she was born, that is what her ID says. She is on some 'house book' there, and likes elections because she has to go back... (outside of her 2-3 times/year trips for other various silly reasons). Does that preclude her from registering at a Pattaya hospital and perhaps getting the 30 baht treatment? My mind is not made up wrt the Pattaya City Hospital, since I get good and bad feedback. Someone I know with a simple wrist fracture speaks positively although the first doctor seen was apparently inexperienced and too arrogant to realise it, subscribing ineffectual treatment that wasted time and money and caused unnecessary suffering. So far it sounds like PCH is good for the simpler and accident ailments, and the International and BHP for the serious stuff. The Memorial to be avoided ..... Again, thanks for taking the time ....
  15. That is true....... coming from LK.
  16. Twenty seconds wasted.
  17. 006 is via the True network and is what I use with my True SIM card. To a mobile for example it is 6 baht/min to the UK...probably +tax.
  18. Yes, thanks for pointing that out to me, but actually I had it upside down when dialling!
  19. 4G has been rolled out in Bangkok by DTAC, and True, also have Chiang Mai and KK. Here is a map for True. suggesting it is widespread.
  20. But not the floor where there is a big number 1!
  21. Well in Pattaya banter MP is Massage Parlour, of course there may be the other type in there particularly those employing LBs......
  22. I may seem stupid but I don't take the bike with me if I will be having a drink, I know what I am like, in that once 3 beers is reached the next pause will be 15. Then I cannot be trusted to make decisions...... I bring her on the back and tell her to take it away.
  23. Yes, 1-2-Call is AIS PAYGo Pretty sure you will be able to get a SIM in baggage claim as before, if not there the 7-11 will have them. Not sure what the registration procedure will be, I have a pal flying in today and I told him to get one. Who to recommend, some say DTAC for coverage but if you are staying in Pattaya it doesn't matter much. Read this maybe.
  24. Oh you won't miss their adds..... the dancing guys paying their bill and the rather fit girl finding her house has changed while she was in it. They are screwing around with the channels right now as I can see it on S21/303MHz. The channel on your TV are likely allocated sequentially on scan, I have moved all mine around to group them together by type and language, and they are screwing up my efforts lately. I haven't paid my annual bill yet and they are trying to get me to pay 600 baht extra for some box to get some HD available now, so either they are pushing digital down their cable now as well as all the analog channels or it is on their internet/intranet...whatever. I am sure they will sort it.... I shall watch the News on Pattaya People!
  25. Of course USA guys and UK guys use different terminology, 1st to them is ground to us...... And 1st to us is 2nd to them. The Pattaya Mail once said... The new AIS Shop, opened on the mall’s ground floor - : http://www.pattayamail.com/business/ais-opens-new-outlet-at-central-festival-18558#sthash.vlGfI1EB.dpuf And the Mall itself says it is on the Ground floor, you know, where there is a big 'G' at the escalator.
