  1. Stuck in traffic yesterday in the heat on my bike was not fun!

My Yamaha has A/C fitted, works a treat in the cold winter UK months.

  2. Here is the link to the Pattaya One report. on this. My lady told me it was reported on Thai TV and the security guy said 'he hit me'...... The weapon of choice, one of those sticks with a metal hook used to pull down shutters I am told. I am inclined to say security frequently over-react and a lesson needs to be taught.

  4. I have a report due next month but would be tempted to try this if someone reports success with on-line reporting here. I only just got the bar-code and haven't tried that out yet!
  5. Kim Basinger
  6. An invoice may need to contain the name, address and taxpayer identification number of the business issuing the tax invoice. Can a one person non-Thai operation obtain these? Anyhow, I am unsure, I am not a lawyer. That is why I suggested to check it out beforehand. Better to be legal knowingly than illegal and ignorant of it.
  7. Watched the moon being eclipsed last night. I wish the sun would be eclipsed a bit. Sweaty hot!

  9. Are you not violating the terms of your work permit? I also wonder about the legality of issuing invoices that you have created yourself. I think you should be checking things with a lawyer.
  10. Shenanigans was in that location before it moved to the Avenue (up the steps). The Avenue spot later became Acorn. When it was on the Beach side of 2nd it was a great Sunday carvery.
  11. Raiders of the Lost Ark.
  12. It is going to be a hot one today. I am burning through my liquid refreshment supplies and I need to stock up for the Songkran hideout.

  13. He is looking for a rabbit......... Is that $600/show charged or $60 for the manager?

  15. Although the above worked out for you guys, would 'phone alerts' have made it all easier? Whenever I transfer to Bangkok Bank I get an SMS which tells me how many £ I sent, charges deducted, exchange rate and number of baht deposited.
  16. Clear and sunny again, for the next several days too. Maybe 34C on Friday, phew

  17. There was rumour of wanderers in the baggage reclaim area of Swampy looking out for those with plenty cigarettes and the information was passed on and a bit of a 'sting' set up, apparently just after customs. Glad to hear you have not been had. I pointedly checked out prices at Manchester last trip out.... hard to believe they are tax free. Even perfumes were more.... straight into the lounge now, although the layout is such that you are forced through the shops!
  18. Nah, he includes plenty meat. (I am a Lancs lad) Isn't the Yorkshire style where the Yorkshire puds are served up with gravy as a separate course to fill you up before the meat comes? That Sunday roast looks great.
  19. Yes, I used to take tobacco for my brother, two packets of 5x50g pouches and I think each package cost me about £15 in Bangkok. It solved his money problems for a while.
  20. Ate there last night. My Special Curry with Fried Rice was good and very much as it would have tasted in the UK My mate had Hot and Sour Soup which he rated highly, Fried Rice and another dish he currently can't remember the name of (we had beers last night)! It certainly looked good from my perspective. A good start to a nights drinking. :
  21. Well it had only been out 2 hours and one whole minute... still time yet! Soi Sawang Fah!
  22. You aren't really allowed duty free cigarettes into Australia, If you are aged 18 years or over you can bring 50 cigarettes or 50 grams of cigars or tobacco products duty-free into Australia with you. All tobacco products in accompanied baggage are included in this category, regardless of how or where they were purchased. Just a couple of packets... I believe they have rules regarding opened packets too.
  23. I am a little concerned that you buy on the way out, and presumably take them back with you...over the allowance? Hence you are smuggling twice, unnecessarily in my mind? (I get the fact you want them into your checked in baggage for the return trip). Firstly, if they catch you bringing them into Swampy, there they have been known to be unforgiving, and you will be hit with a fine per cigarette over the allowance, which is a hefty fine.(3500 baht/carton officially, but I have heard of many cases where more was 'extorted'.). If you buy at the UK airport you are wasting money, they are overpriced and much cheaper in Bangkok duty free. There is a better option!
