For those who live here, with a Thai partner, you may realise that Buddhist Lent ended yesterday. My partner marked the occasion with a few Regency and Sodas, her first alcohol for the 3 month season. Many do actually give up something, alcohol being a common one, but in Pattaya one might not notice. Did your partner give up anything...... ? How did she mark the end of the season. I wonder if the restaurants might be busier tonight, it is of course coinciding with Eid al Adha, the Islamic holiday.

I have given up on this place, my last visit being a year ago. My views are not as extreme as steamer, but do go a little way down that road. It isn't far from where I live so always an attractive option, rather than driving into town and struggling with traffic and parking. The problem is, the place is so popular....... and a single couple, falang and Thai wife, well you are likely to get a table near the toilet or kitchen,and as EP suggests, that is what the crowds are doing. The large groups seem to be ordering throughout their meal. The food was certainty, good, the menu extensive ++, but the large groups will dominate the staff and kitchen. I also felt I was treated offhandedly once.

I have actually never flown EVA, but I did the one via Amsterdam,China some-thing-or-other (Gazelle Travel, Newcastle) and was having lustful ideas at 30,000 ft, and making night-out plans for my BKK arrival. I definitely associate that Oriental look with hanky-panky. Shit, my mind wanders on Air-Asia while fighting Chinese for overhead stowage!

Of course they are waitresses in the air..... and they brought my food and a few drinks as required. But Singapore Girls they ain't, nor ever were. I like a bit of attractiveness and Thai, Cathay, SQ and a few others, well of course they turn heads as they walk through a concourse rather than stomachs!

Why not.... I have used a few and found them all much of a sameness, friends seem to swear by their own, all different. I use a small one that runs between Klang and Soi 7. Seems okay although there is always a sense of trying to make as much money as she can.

I couldn't really specify a place. Never having spent any appreciable length of time elsewhere. Well perhaps Korat, Nan, Tak, Phuket, and her village in rural Korat....bugger all there. When I first retired, we went on a few extensive tours of Thailand, with a mind to finding a place I wanted to settle. Nearly a decade later, perhaps some of the places I did not select would perhaps be more worthy now. But Pattaya ticks a lot of boxes, and I think I made a good choice back then.

It isn't bad actually.....has it's moments. Sophon gives me an opportunity to catch many films.

Years ago, when I was based in the USA , we did a lot of Business trips to China, usually through Hong Kong. We had to travel as a group, and since all the other guys were from the USA we had to fly United for their 'miles'. I told them they had rocks in their heads as the United cabin staff were all dragons who begrudged serving any man, especially with a few drinks. I kept wailing we could have used Cathay Pacific. Oh well, we always slipped notes to the hotel transport in HK on the way back and got a free upgrade to 1st where they were better! Emirates have a suite 'door' in 1st for privacy.......you need to try 1st on a 380! Hope the 787 flight doesn't have to turn back!
