Strangely enough, when I was booking my Emirates ticket, I plugged in 1st one way and Biz coming back, and they 'Free Upgraded' the return leg to 1st (Fully booked in Biz they said), meaning only £300 more for 1st over Biz Class price at the time. Also a no brainer for me.

Glad to hear you guys got a mileage deal on your 1st Class trips. I actually went to the Thai site and priced a First ticket to Amsterdam, as close as they go to Manchester. Not as much as I expected but it was 50% more than my Emirates 1st Ticket Ex Manchester. And that I did pay myself, perhaps a bucket list item!!!!!!

And rushing in buying a condo can be a waste of money too. Imagine buying a condo for 3mil that you could have rented for 20k/month.... If you are into your 60s is spending12 years money really a sound idea, throwing away the freedom to come and go and perhaps locking yourself into a place you come to dislike. The place may be fine, but neighbours can spoil it. Is a condo for you, living in a little box up in the air with 5000 others waiting to get into the elevator? Perhaps you would prefer to be in a house, or in the countryside? There are annual charges associated with owning a condo not being considered here. Renting can be done for a reasonable price here, condo prices are inflated.

That was my thought..... now you are in the hands of Thai bureaucracy! I often wonder if residents too will have a more difficult time with their visas and extensions. (Or more expensive)

I wonder about a Hybrid here, petrol isn't so expensive so why pursue that option?

While I haven't used them in Economy I did find them quite good in Biz Class. I go for price, so it is normally between Emirates,Etihad and Qatar for me. Qatar do not offer the free limos to and from the airport. Also being bused to and from the aircraft is very tedious...takes ages and is frustrating. But on board, pretty good.

Depends how they wake you up................ Actually I think they ask you if you want to be woken for breakfast. Did you get a nice 'puff pack'..Emirates gave me a nice one with razor, foam, anti-sweat, perfumes and creams in a nice zip up case.

Darn...my Emirates First didn't treat me so well! Had to bloody walk to the lounge and the gate. That looked very very VIP.

I had it happen at the BIg C checkout, I let one get away with it but when another friend tried it I lost it, took her stuff off the counter and threw it to the back. They seemed amused by it. Although Jomtiem is a popular place, with a long beach, many restaurants and suitable for staying, the night life isn't there. Getting to and from is an aggravation..... much too far to walk, heavy traffic between there and Pattaya, and heavily used transport.

It was a noisy night at my place. Lightening and thunder starting about 8.30 and then rain with it by 9pm or so. Woken up by thunderclaps throughout the night! Sounded like 2 major storms. Still fair rain at 6.30, a full pool and some sink-holes in the garden. The TGF is quite happy as there will be no need to water the garden for a few days! Any beach left in Pattaya? At 08.00 I need to put the lights back on as the rain gets heavier. My cable TV is out, the TGF will take the truck and I will be left here watching my expensive chlorine spill over the edges of the pool... and the earth of my garden mysteriously vanish..ever fearful the house will tip to an angle. I am told this weather is here until Saturday, and the radar image shows it heavily around us. Any idea where that hit MM? Surely some damage!
