I don't think it is that simple...My UK dongle, for example, came with software on it to connect to O2 and had some pretty useless network selector that had to be loaded. Also your dongle might be 3G specific and 3G isn't really going here yet. By all means try it..... But one thing I do know. You don't have to have a dongle, a mobile phone works in Thailand readily. Your mobile (EG a Sony), comes with PC Suite, and there is an option to connect to the internet in there... covering any country (except didn't work in UK.. ) . You would need then to buy a 'bolt on' for the network...It would be Edge/GPRS, slow speeds but sufficient to keep up with emails.

I know my AIS internet access used to offfer these various packages which were normally time rather than data quantity... so you could get a single day unlimited, or 3 days or 7 days, these are good for filling those gaps between trips.

The rate is always better for TCs than cash.... but I have noticed that the differnce seems to be a lot less now.So is the damned rate too...

I was looking at Emirates as a Bangkok - Manchester option. On their webpage I could pick from a selection of flights many of which included the A380, but for some reason I had better options when I did my search by schedule. Using price I often brought up long layovers in Dubai, and fewer A380 options. Sadly I think I will go with Qatar as Emirates is too much of a price premium.....
