Just a guess but I should think it is Tripler Army Medical Center on Oahu. Back during the Vietnam War I was stationed there. It was for all services, vets and citizens of the trust territories. I think hockey did gain. Hockey tried and failed in the western USA prior the Olympics. The San Francisco Seals, for instance. I think the Olympics opened some eyes. I never followed hockey before but always kept an eye on those from the Olympic team that turned pro. Now in California you have the Sharks, Kings, Ducks and in Arizona you have the Coyotees. I think Lake Placid opened some previously shut eyes in the arid western USA. Certainly the success of the Kings helped as well.

When I stayed at LK Metropole in February I booked through Agoda. I enjoyed my stay there. MM is correct. They are nice hotels to stay in but.... The lesson I have learned is not to book directly through the hotel web site, even if the price is lower. Deal with a third party if you want to stay there is my suggestion.

I think it is great fun and good for the sport. No matter what the outcome it has to be good for the sport in America. Remember Lake Placid? The USA should have never beaten the Soviets in "ice" hockey (yes I know Joe Kicker). We should have gotten our butts kicked by Spain. That's why they actually play games for real and not on paper.

A nice room for under 1000 baht with 1. Comfortable queen size bed or larger 2. In room safe 3. Air con 4. Dresser drawers to unpack (Areca is out even if in cost ballpark) 5. I like Soi Diana / LK Metro area but Rockhouse is out 6. Pool nice but not required A room similar to Secrets and Rockhouse but between Soi 8 and WS on the sois but Second Road side of Soi Bukau for sure. Thanks in advance

I had booked at one of the LK hotels and decided to look for less expensive accomodations. I sent an email to the proper email address. No reply. Two days later sent another from a different email account. No reply. I waited until the weekend and phoned them. I need to fax or email them to confirm my cancellation?????????? I emailed again from both email accounts immediately. No reply. The man I spoke to said they had email problems last week. If my email had not gotten through, I would have gotten an email from my email providers telling me the email bounced. I will now notify my CC company that I have cancelled and not to accept no-show charges from these people. I think it is fair to share this. LK hotels are nice but this is part of customer service and should be pointed out.

Why are they listed as participants? Why are they not listed as moderators? Why was nothing mentioned (that I have seen) that we would be held to a higher standard than before? I think some of the complaints I have read members feel blindsided. The sudden change seems arbitrary and inconsistant to those who got a sudden and unexpected warning. It is not the warning per se but the sudden change in policy.

The real issue is not seeming arbitrary. If mods are going to enforce a higher standard of behavior, that standard should be enunciated before warnings are posted. Then, the standard should be consistant. Lately it seems warnings are being given for behavior that, even though posted as a violation, has been accepted as the norm for years. Giving warnings is not the answer. It just pisses people off. Educating people in advance that changes are occuring is what should have happened. Giving someone a warning and then not being able to back it up with precise information is wrong.

I would be curious about what one moderator "judged" to be racist. In addition. sailfast could have contacted you and said he believed it to be a racist remark and deleted it but not warned you. Some words in common usage are actually racist in origin for instance. Some people may not even be aware of it when they say it. If you say somebody "jewed" you in a business deal, that is an obvious referance to Jewish people and most of us know that but if you replace "jewed" with "gyped" many would not know that it refers to the Gypsies in the same manner originally. The original meaning has been lost over time as refers to Gypsies but as refers to Jews. Intent has a lot to do with whether or not someone should get a warning. As an aside, what is with all these moderators and complaints of warnings all of a sudden? Also, in which forum was it? Moderators, the board existed a long time before you. If true, why would you try to be more heavy handed than the original and solo moderator MM? Is it orders from MM or are you just imposing your will? I am curious to know the new guidlines here, posted guidelines were just "guidelines" before and not commandments written in stone. Please elaborate before we all end up with unexpected warnings.
