I thought I'd try the 'party' tonight, what rubbish no food and I just sit on my own. -
second hand book shops in pattaya
chris2004 replied to Norfloxacin400's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I've just tried downloading a book from the Kindle store on Amazon. OK you pay nearly full price but the selection is massive and the book arrives in about 3 seconds. You need a Kindle or a Netbook with a good battery but it provides much more choice. -
second hand book shops in pattaya

I agree Canterbury Tales is about the best in Patts but I miss a good selection of non fiction. -
Is it open to mere mortals now ?

I always think it's best to go with the big international companies Avis, Hertz etc in case you have an accident. Who knows if these small companies really have insurance. I find Avis on the internet offer some of the cheapest rates from 850 baht a day.

It is probably free flights again but they are useless because no one can get on the site to book them.

For the IT dummies like me how do I change my DNS settings?

Yes they are working on it as of today 5/1/10 but it's still a nightmare. I'm at the Royal Hill condo just down from the Sugar Hut and it's like living in a dustbowl. Every day my condo is covered in dust and i've given up trying to clean the bike. Hopefully things will improve soon but to date ........

Thanks torrenova But it Toyota on Suvumvit that turned my down, even with a 30% deposit. I can't see the point of getting a penniless (or bahtless) TG to act as guarantor. That wouldn't help them if I didn't make the payments.

My retirement visa is based on income not bank savings so does that represent 'proof of income'. Also my idea of a small deposit was at least 30%. Doesn't sound like I'll get the credit though.

I am thinking of buying a new Toyota Vios but would rather pay a small deposit and get the rest on finance. The initial reaction from the dealership was that a farang can not get credit unless it is guaranteed by a thai. I can't imagine any thai acting as my guarantor, except my gf and she doesn't earn enough. Has anyone been able to get finance to buy a new car and if so where from. I am here on a retirement visa and own my condo so hopefully can be seen as a good credit risk.

I am thinking of buying a new motorcycle (only a Yamaha Fino etc) but wondered what the position was for reliable insurance in Thailand. I come home to England for a few weeks at a time and the bike would be parked at my Condo while I was away. I am worried that the bike would be stolen while I was away so would want good insurance cover. Does anyone know what the insurance position is ? can you get reliable insurance and does it pay out in the event of a theft.

Pattaya Beer Garden – 1 week old.

Firstly Pete could I wish you all the best with the bar, I think its a great idea and just what Pattaya needs. Could I question however your views on how the freelancers operate. I was in the bar last night and found it difficult to get anyone of them to show any interest. Maybe its because the bar is so big that you are sat along way from the girls (or maybe its because I'm not an hansom man!). I saw one sat on her own by the sea and checked for a few minutes that she was on her own. So walked over and said hello hoping to be invited to sit down, but she gave me the cold shoulder in n -
Hi I'm arriving on the Emirates flight from Dubai on Sunday the 9th at 12.05 pm. Is that any good to share a taxi. Staying at the Areca Lodge.

I have a 90 sqm condo which I currently clean myself. I have tried to get a thai cleaner to give it a clean say 1-2 times a month but have been quoted some very high figures - Tip Top wanted 4,000 baht !! Can anyone recommend a cleaner who is willing to come on a regular basis for a reasonable rate. I assume if wages here for cleaners are 2-300 baht a day then say a 500 baht fee is about right for a one day clean. Thanks

I am in a similar position to Richard, have retired in the UK at 51 and am in Pattaya on a non immigrant visa. I might go for a retirement visa next year and could bring over 800,000 baht. My query is does anyone know if this can be put into an interest bearing account or would I lose the interest on this (sat in the UK that could amount to around £500 + pa).

Hi I've recently bought a condo in Pattaya and will want to set up my lap top to use the internet at home. Can anyone recommend an internet service provider in Thailand and are there any particular problems in getting set up. I have not chosen my phone company yet, I understand there are two main choices, any benefit with either one. Thanks for the help

Am arriving at BKK at 7.15 am on the 30th August on Qatar airlines. Anyone want to share a taxi (not booked yet) to Pattaya. Chris2004
