The flight from KL gets into Stansted at about 10 pm. Who wants to start messing about with transfers at midnight. You would have to get a local hotel which adds another 70 GBP to the cost.

I thought i was the only one that happened to. The Pound will never increase until the UK increases it's internal interest rates, so look to at least 1-2 years.

You can buy calling cards from 7/11 etc. I use 'Zayhi'. You pay 300/500 baht prepaid for the card and then call via one of their numbers in Thailand. You can call the UK for 1 baht a minute plus the local charge. I think just using the 007 008 prefix is still 7 baht a minute on a mobile.

Condo prices SEEM to have fallen but i think that is only because they are building smaller condos 32 sqm etc. The price per sq m has remained roughly the same so condos are much more expensive to British buyers. For example i bought mine in 2006 for 34,000 baht a sq m, 3.4 million in total. They are offering new condos at 1.5 m now but they are say 45 sq m still 33,000 a sq m. If you are thinking of coming to live here though maybe you should buy now before the Pound drops further.

I bought a separate DVD player here a Pioneer DV220 which plays both thai and english DVDs. Only 2000 baht and useful to have a spare DVD player.

I have only seen the wording a residency or citizenship 'test' to get the new pension. I have not seen any detail as to what that test will mean in practice. If it really excludes all those pensioners reside outside Britain then millions of people will lose their pension (including me). Is it really that bad? Guaranteed to lose the Tories lots of votes.

Same here. I bought a 'blu ray' from the 3rd floor 150 baht. It was in a lovely blu ray box but played on my normal DVD player, clearly a fake. The actual picture wasn't too bad but not blu ray.

The actual blu rays they sell (on the bottom floor) are about 1100 -1300 baht. I can not understand why they are so expensive compared to a normal DVD at 200-300 baht. The ones they sell on the third floor I presume are copies, so i cannot see the point of getting a copy (with dubious quality) if you want the best picture. They also sell them at the Central Mall but again over 1100 baht.
