Regyai replied to Grandpollo's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya

Anyone who knows a way to make a fortune will be away doing it not drivelling on about sharing it unless the way to this fortune is getting your hands into the pockets of the dimwitted and gullible ....oh wait a minute

Yes VAT has been with us since forever (now 20% FFS) But you lot are quite new to this...in the UK we're still waiting for Napoleon to be defeated so that income tax can be recinded .
-
Yes but theres 'hidden' tax in everything...your groceries from the supermarket for example encompass not only VAT but delivery fuel, company TAX, etc etc all along the supply chain...who pays it all? the end user is who

See this app I posted about here: http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/60943-baht-rate-android-app/ D/load onto your phone and have the answer to the 'hows the rate?' recurring question always available .

Often wondered if it could ever be calculated just how much of a £1 earned that a working Joe actually gets in reality after all the Tax elements (often compounded) are taken out - Income Tax at source, NI, etc, then when he spends; VAT, Tax on Fuel etc (all up the supply chain). Precious few pence on the pound I reckon. .

I mention this due to the last time when I got off at Tai (to grab a white Song Taew up Sukhumvit) a couple of wide eyed newbies with the huge roller cases asked if Id like to share a Taxi into Soi Yamoto - they being under the misguided impression that a taxi meter would be along presently to be flagged down. I tried to explain that the nearest blue Song Taews where on Tai itself and meant an enthusiastic up n over on the walkway, anyhoo I was saved further involvment by the arrival of a white one and left them conducting some kind of three ringed circus with the motocy guys Obviously -

The answer you need is here: http://www.airportpa...2012/index.html Fare 134THB per person Ticket desk - same as Bell bus at Suvarnabhumi This travels down the motorway and off at Regents school to the 'old' exit onto Sukhumvit in Pattaya, then drops at Nua , Klang, Tai on Sukhumvit Then top of Thepprasit and their office at the supermarket car park opposite Pan pan restaurant I often use it to get into BKK for the day (coupled with the skytrain link I can get there n back without touching on any BKK traffic ) But dont make the mistake I see many making...debussing on the Sukh -
Seriously "wow" Mind you 'spose its the price of a bicycle to some

Sometimes its nice to ride the buggy with the liveried cutie, especially after a loooong flight and a gate allocation that seems to be in Rayong when you have to hoof it .

And your patience .

You say your current laptop is but a year old....just a thought - and maybe a considerable saving, why not swap out the HDD for a SSD in that - (what you need maybe what you have ) - it'll certainly be a different beast with the SSD .
-
Yes indeed, this has been my modus operandi for years - all the residences I have Ive kitted out with Monitor/printer/keyboard mouse...when I commute the laptop goes with me You just set the options that closing the lid does nothing more than shut down the laptop's screen - to all intents its then a 'mini PC' .
-
Go state of the art laptop (i5 or i7 processor and SSD drive and USB storage drive if you harbour a lot of stuff) Get a huge monitor & keyboard/mouse Job done ! When you want the PC advantage hook up the monitor/Keyboard/Mouse, when you dont you have the same but in a small package .

The paper UK licence is OK, but as is commonly misunderstood (or denounced with spurious anecdotal 'Bertie Brownshirt didnt ask for it' stories) you need the International Licence to validate it No International = no fast track to Thai licence (read taking tests and hours in that room ) UK its a no brainer to organise Once you have the Thai licence(s) you dont need the foreign stuff again (in LOS) so long as you keep the Thai ones current Thai international licence to use back in nanny land. OK for rentals (no insurer is about to give you your own policy on the strength of one

Its the t'internet FFS There are sellers with 'ambitious' prices and 'glamorous' descriptions. Heck most of whats offered here is for sale in Pattaya lest you forget - a locale noted for the prevalence of two legged piranhas constantly on the look out for the wide eyed and naive. Personally I find the value of this forum is in the interjection of those that know both the scene and the real value of stuff 'on the ground' - those who in fact have been 'n done as opposed to those who can speculate on how they think things should be. If they are at times a little acerbic in the delivery o
