  3. The first time I went to Pattaya a booked thro a Travel company door to door to a big hotel The rest of the time I always had to tell the driver where to go a) by me giving directions or a Thai card printed off the website so he could ask someone that could read Thai If I am traveling to a country for the first time print the address out Be Nice Moby69
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, I was looking to get a bottle of Whisky but was unsure if you were allowed to transit with it in these troubled times? Be Nice Moby69
  5. Since I posted the above I have woken up and have since found out there is a very good duty ree part at Doha airport.... unless you know diffrent Be Nice Moby69
  6. Hi Guys, The question is "can you buy duty free at Bangkok and then transit thro Doha to London Heathrow"? I have been told that you have the said drinks taken off you at Doha as it is more than the 100mls ?? Can you buy duty free at Doha? I have never been thro that airport? Any help on this matter would be most helpful. Thank You Be Nice Moby69
  7. There you go Martin you should have just swapped with the gf Be Nice Moby69 ps See you around the 14th Feb
  8. I looked into this when I booked my hotel. The price I got from the web (cash up-front) was about 200 bt per night better than from the hotel When I contacted the hotel and told them I could get a better price they said "go for it" I chose a different hotel Be Nice Moby69
  9. I well understand the idea of humping bags about as I travel with my golf clubs (full set) so it's a pig to move around But I also have to keep an eye on the cash flow (for me) and as much as I like flying from Newcastle (I live 20 min from the airport) I have to be sensible about the silly prices. I used to fly China Air when they were giving out the old Business class for an extra £250 with 30kg luggage, but now it's around £1100 and you are back to 20kg sod that. My wife is Japanese and goes back to Tokyo twice a year, flying with KLM/Air France which is a longer flight (12 1/2 hrs from Amsterdam) gets a 30kg bag allowance and I haven' paid more than £500 for the last two years. She is out the same time as me this year (last two weeks in Feb) flying from Newcastle Good flights for £446 for me, from Newcastle with good flights £673 So this year, first time for many years I am going via Heathrow and on Thai (probably the same plane I went on in 1991) but this will allow me to spend a night with friends a have not seen for 5 years (they live next to Heathrow) and pay for my train fares (UK) and my hotel (LOS). The end result, until I can once again get good prices from Newcastle I fear I will stuck in Heathrow (albeit in a Lounge) Regards Be Nice Moby69
  10. Good luck I gave up ten years ago & six days later flew to LOS it was hard but I didn't have a ciggie Be Nice Moby69
  11. Hi Belfunk, Eva were coming in at £504, which if it was me I would have taken I have had to go with Thai But as I have already stated my Brother likes a large dose of nicotine so he needs to get off half way silly I know but what can I do Be Nice Moby69
  12. I know where you are coming from but he will not go direct as he needs his 40 fag stop mid way??? On his dates BA comes in at £700 at that price he would be better off with Emirates he may/may not use the Heathrow express or the tube but as a sailer for nearly 40 years lugging a bag onto the tube won't be a problem Be nice Moby69
  13. I have always used the Emirates website and have booked 10 flights with them (via Newcastle) 3 for me and 7 for my brother. My brothers flights (3 or more a year) have always been the good connections up to this time and at a good price never more than £550 This time they are coming in at £673 with a nine hr layover or £714 for the short layover over £200 more than his last flight in September 09 His dates are FIXED so he cannot move around? I could have got a ticket for two days shorter for £581 but that was with a 22 yes Twenty-Two hour layover in Dubai We live at Newcastle and it is easier/cheaper to fly via Heathrow than Manchester Be Nice Moby69
  14. And so would he if I could book a ticket for UNDER £600 and a good lay-over for those dates (fixed) But as Emirates at £673 with a NINE hour layover he will be very happy with a 3 hour train trip (which he can take his own food drink) rather than pay the price at UAE. The Heathrow express takes 16 mins Be Nice Moby69
  15. Hi Just booked Qatar air for my brother £479 Mid March to 5th April (good layovers) Newcastle - London £15 each way & Travel lodge overnight £22 in London total Price £531 Newcastle Bangkok Emirates (same dates) £673 Have a nice day Be Nice Moby69
  16. have just tried pricing up a trip in feb and it comes in at £707 mmmm, perhaps not me thinks Be Nice Moby69
  17. I would love to Sam but at the moment they are coming in at silly money Be Nice Moby69
  18. It is unlikely I will ever see the inside of a A380 as the stopover from Ncl - Dbx is 9 hrs that is way too long for me Be Nice Moby69
  19. This used to be a very active part of the board years ago, but alas no longer. I felt that more people would get to read it in the main section. I do find it strange that YOUR contribution to this mans death is a sarcastic remark. I very rarely comment on people on this board but you sir are fucki** wanker Be Nice Moby69
  20. I have the sad duty to pass on the sad news of the death of Brian Ellis. For those of you who did not know Brian, he ran the golf outings from the Sugar Shack for many a long year, He had a very dry sense of the silly, He did not suffer fools gladly, which some people took offense at, but to all that really knew him he was a very good and loyal friend. I had the good fortune to get to know Brian over many years and it was a pleasure to have him as a friend. This Feb will be the first time for many years the he will not be ticking the names of on the Monday morning at my first golf day & I for one will be very sad RIP Be Nice Moby69
