  1. Another vote for keeping the music as-is. The guys who want the car-alarm disco crap can go to the go-gos for that. Good rock-n-roll with a bit of pop thrown in is exactly to my tastes.
  2. I guess I'm with Joe on this one as I think the iPad is a rather poorly-thought-out device. It's not a netbook and it's not an e-book reader either. It tries to do both but, much like the wrong tool for the job, is at best a limited compromise. I was hoping Apple would announce a kick-ass e-book reader using e-ink in a novel, advanced way but it seems prospective e-book customers will have to wait awhile yet. The fact it can't multitask, has no USB ports, and can't support Flash makes it of extremely limited usefulness. I really can't think what it's good at, that couldn't be done
  3. Do you have a current phone number or other contact information from them?
  4. And it looks like I'll miss yet another party for someone I know. Send Ken my best regards, he's a great guy to have a drink with. But his older brother PSP should really try to stop fooling us with this father/son BS.
  5. Best wishes on the party, Paul. I'll be sure to buy you a drink on my return to Fun Town a couple months from now.
  6. I've already replied to this on another forum, but I'll do so again here. I'm impressed with this cost-conscious attitude from the owners and the apparent presence of my future ex-wife (who I missed the chance to take during her first stint at the bar) will guarantee my appearance at Catz upon my return to LOS. Asahi for 85b is a great deal, maybe they'll even stock enough of it so that LDK and I won't empty their shelves of the stuff during a visit (which has happened periodically at Misty's).
  7. So true, it was a great and very intoxicating way to start an evening. I remember (perhaps "remember" isn't exactly the right word ) us staggering down the stairs to Catz of all places (a liver-hazard venue in its own right) and subsequently getting even more hammered on shooters courtesy of the owners. Some times I wonder how either of us survived nights like that.
  8. Agreed on all counts. Especially the fish and chips. It must be a Canadian thing!
  9. I was using the wifi a couple of days ago and yes, it did seem a bit slower than before. However, it was still enough for me to do what I needed. I didn't realize that the earlier wifi blackout was billing related. It actually conked out while I was there (and stayed out for the next two days I visited to try and use it). I had assumed the failure was weather-related as it was right in the middle of those torrential downpours we were having. Good to hear that an upgrade is on the way, as the wifi is the #1 reason I visit during the day when my own connection is down (or I just feel like wo
  10. I'm not sure exactly what time it opens but I'll ask Tim the next time I'm in there ...
  11. I recently paid a return visit to the place formerly known as Misty's. Misty's has relocated to Soi 15 off Walking Street but Andy decided to keep ahold of the original location. Legs is pretty much the only girly go-go on the soi now other than Classroom. But once you've dodged the ladyboys and boy a go go's this is a surprisingly good venue. Managed by Tim (who should be well known to any past customers of Misty's), the girls are as classy a line-up as you'll see in most Walking Street joints but on the whole are MUCH friendlier. There aren't many prima donna princesses in this p
  12. Never mind treadmills, does anyone know of any place that offers/sells proper rowing ergometers? These are the rowing machines with the flywheel/bike chain and the moving slide seat. Have not seen even one in any fitness store/gym in Thailand despite looking countless time. Here's a link with a couple of pics to show what I'm asking for: Rowing Machine Pix
  13. I'll be there for sure, glad I checked into the board today to see this reminder!
  14. Now we know what colours the girls (and some of the customers) will be puking in the toilet a few hours later. Thanks for the warning!
  15. Well Bill, there's certainly something to be said for making complaints. Not only did we get Robin posting some pictures, even Sa-teef joined in too. We'll have to team up again the next time we feel neglected and ignored on this board by certain parties ....
  16. Quite frankly, I don't think Chalkie is worth the 400 baht barfine. Maybe 40 baht if I was really desperate. I like Sweethearts as a place to start the night. The drinks are reasonable and the music (primarily rock'n'roll) appeals to me a lot and is played at sound levels that make conversation easy. I am always made to feel welcome by the servers, Chalkie and Satit and would recommend this as a relatively quiet bar if you want to have a serious chat with a few mates without screaming over the din ...
  17. Evidently the former, as I know he's back in town (had some drinks with him Saturday night) and there's still no pictures ... We've been robbed, apparently! I guess there's nothing to do but go back into the bar and complain over a few beers and B52s ...
  18. I have just learned that JI-Net is now back online and my friend's connection has been restored. Apparently service was interrupted for 12 hours ... So glad I don't use these guys! My provider is TRUE Internet and I am a happy customer, FWIW.
  19. ... As stated in the subject header and sub-header, a good friend who is presenty using JI-NET cannot get online and the staff at the office are not picking up the phone. This is as of late afternoon on Friday the 13th ... Hmmmm, maybe that date has something to do with bad luck after all!!! Does anyone have any information on this situation? Right now there is only a recording that all international connections are down and they are sorry for the inconvenience ...
  20. Mid-week (Wednesday) would work for me, I have signed up for the newsletter and look forward to receiving updates as you announce them ...
  21. I am presently taking Yoshinkan aikido and might add this to my repertoire if time/finances/etc permit. Not too interested in a workshop at this time (still recovering from a strained shoulder in aikido) but regular classes would be appealing as long as they don't clash with my aikido classes or other commitments ... Will check out the website shortly.
  22. Sounds very interesting, for sure ... I might be able to drag myself out for that one, that is if I'm not too messed up from visiting your place the night before ...
  23. Sorry it has taken me a couple extra days to get this done, but here are some of the pictures taken during TQ2's recent Mad Hatter's Party last Sunday: Note the mistake in the banner ('Man Hatter' is actually a slang term for male prostitute, of which three of Pattaya's finest examples can be seen below): PSP and explorer make an appearance while rightsaid plays the good host: Divethai with yet another example of frighteningly-honest apparel that makes him such a legend here in Pattaya: Here you see the results of his nefarious plots upon one of our innocent s
  24. Before I forget, a few more pictures from our recent promo photo-shoot for tomorrow's Mad Hatter's party at TQ2. One funny note: Yesterday the banner-maker made a hilarious screw-up on the promotional banner displayed within the bar. Instead of "Mad Hatters" he put "Man Hatters" which apparently is a slang term for 'male prostitute.' When you think about it, this successfully defines most of us who visit here so perhaps there is truth in advertising after all ...
