  1. Yes tom, I know that... But there are people here that do this all the time and know what locations will do it anyway. This is the info I need... Frosty
  2. Hay guys, I have searched the boards and read about 10 reports on getting a visa stamp for a US passport, but the info is all dated or contradictory. I am living in Pattaya, and currently am almost at my 60 of 90 days without a visa. (I got a stamp when I came in, and did one visa run on the last day of my original 30 - extending me until next week). Now... I want to get a 60+ day tourist visa from the easiest/fastest/cheapest venue, but would also like to find one with a little fun to be had while waiting for my visa... Such as Cambodia, perhaps? Of the posts I read, I saw that you could get a 60 day single entry in PP, but another post said that was impossible... Also read the same about Hanoi, but I am not optomistic about the mongering opertunities in Hanoi lol. Any recomendations here guys? Will PP give me a visa, and how long does it take? And if so, can you give me some recomendations for hotel/fun? Thanks, Frosty
  3. No. Thailand is very racist you see... no Falang electronics will work here. heh j/k - Of course they will work here... but they will not play pirated games unless they are modified. You can have them modded here or in Bangkok easily enough. Frosty
  4. Ya - whats up with that?!? - I have several girlfriends that work there Would suck if they wern't invited! Ok, now that that's settled.... will be there! Just dont take any of my girlfriends before I can choose one for the night! heh Frosty

  8. Well said mate. This type of "scam" isnt a scam. Its simply the girl wanting something different, I am sure. A "scam" would be charging you for 2 instead of one, or padding your checkbin when your not looking... both of which DO happen in pattaya. Like whilliam said... if you cant afford an extra quarter, just tell the girl your a cheap bastard and move on. I can see not wanting to be a LDOP... but the other end of that particular problem is just as bad, IMHO. Frosty
  9. Can you PM me a contact number? My GF's best friend is in the market.. This is a little below the price she was looking at, but is interested in seeing it. Thanks, Frosty
  10. My first thougth is that you are unable to resolve the streaming video server... which would be a DNS issue. I would try adding a secondary DNS to a Open DNS server, such as 4.2.2.1 or 4.2.2.2 (either will work)... see if that fixes the problem. If not.. we can try something else. Frosty
  11. Are you in Pattaya right now? If so, PM me and I will plan to meet you at FLB or another location tomorrow or later int he week and will fix it for you. This is a fairly easy problem for a "techie" to fix.. not so simple to explain how to fix (in non techie terms).... and impossible when your drunk (as I now am). if you can understand some techie speak, you need to disable all non native Active-X Controls via the "Internet" control panel for IE... once done, you can use IE to download and install the latest flash, which will update firefox at the same time. There are other ways too if that fails, but 9 times out of 10 it works. Hope this helps... and let me know if your here and want help - will be more then happy to swing in somewhere to help you out. Frosty
  12. Commercially available Sat uplinks are way too slow... and the type that would handle the speed I want would be way too expensive, assuming I could even get access to them. To be honest, I dont know all that much about wide stream sat bands (I know the technology, not the market). I do know that the US Military uses such things... I read once they have a 333mb/s sat uplink supporting the war in Iraq, but I am sure that damn thing is costing a good percentage of our funding for that stupid enterprise. The problem with Sat communications is the small delay in transmission... your response time would be ok for development work, say... or internet browsing... but if your a gamer, the 1000+ ping times would just SUCK. heh. Frosty
  13. lol - am hoping the people that dont know keep out of the thread :) I am not expecting a answer... just wasting time between gogo's =P Frosty
  14. I dont suppose there is anyone out there that happens to know the median price per mile for laying Fiber in Thailand? Hypothetically here... If I wanted to pay to have a fiber path from my house to the nearest Class 1 pipe, anyone have any clue of the costs? In America the median is 75k per mile, and it can be anywhere from 3500 per mile (if you own the land and its a strait run) to upward of 3 million per mile for downtown new york. Currently I am in the middle of the city, but am looking to build a house a bit out from the city... probably south of Pattaya somewhere... and will need a good internet connection, no matter the cost... but need to have a good idea of what that cost will be when I go looking for land. Again, this is all hypothetical at the moment, but am curious... so I thru it out there :) Frosty (and yes, I already have emails out to the major ISPs, but they are all idiots... need a address before they can give a median quote).
  15. download is broke frosty
  16. Nice! Will see ya next trip. Frosty
  17. Will give a call as soon as I get to town... Thanks sticky! Frosty
  18. Thanks chuck - My Bday is in Oct, so I hope I am there for it this year (was thinking about coming back here for a visit around the end of Sept, depending on the Visa situation lol). Either way, will see ya there soon! Will have to throw another party. That last one got WILD. Am gonna judge the next one tho. :) Frosty
  19. I guess I should have mentioned that, shouldnt I have? Write it off to old age... or something. I am looking for something in the greater pattaya areaI've already purchased a motorbike, so baht busses are not a issue, but the closer to town the better, at least for now. My price range is... complicated lol. I verge on being a LDOP when I am in LOS, but I have to try to restrict that now, since I Will be living there. I can pay 20k a month easily enough if I fall in love with a particular place, but I would like to find a small 2br place for half that if I can. I did look at one place that was going for 8k that I actually liked, but it was rented already... something similar would be perfect. Realistically I am thinking around 13-15k or so, for a nice secure (albeut small) place. While I am looking I will be in the Resident Garden, so I will want to try to find something fairly quickly on arrival - since that place will set a fella back 35k a month on the low end lol. Any help appreciated! Frosty
  20. Haya All, Well... I am finally taking the plunge. I have a one way ticket for June 10, and will be staying in Thailand for several months at least, and several years I hope :) Now... I am going to need a house. I dont want an apartment if I can get away from it... I have to have at least 2 bedrooms (tho I dont think I would need a 3rd for anything) and something that is western friendly (think: toilet, not hole in ground), and something clean... or reasonably so. I will buy my own appliances and such, as I am particular about what I sleep on, so I guess I would go with a unfurnished place (unless the furnishings are very nice, or I can switch some of them out.. like the bed). I am looking for something that has a flexible lease, or none at all, though if I like it I will likely be there several years (even if I dont stay in thailand, I will likely keep the house so I dont have to pack luggage back and forth anymore). And it has to have a place to secure a motorbike without a lot of fuss (most houses have a lockable gate). Thanks in advance, Frosty (Dave)
  21. it will not... I have tried. Nor in America. Frosty
  22. Excellent! That is great news... 100 baht, then, is a great price. 1/3rd of most "after 2am" BFs. Hope that keeps up... am in town in 5 days, and dont get to pattaya until 2am.. am hoping to see a little action the first night. Frosty
  23. So... Just so I have the timeline right... It seems that all bars are being shut down at 2am now, because of the popo... so, we get a 100bt barfine after the bar is closed? Now.. dont get me wrong - I am one that doesnt mind the whole barfine concept - I know a bar has to make money, and I am far from a cheap charley... but charging a BF when the bar is closed... that to me is the same as charging a BF for a girl on her day off, if she chooses to stay with her guy that day. Unless I misunderstand the situation, this seems... wrong? Of course, if the bar(s) really are open after 2 (lights off, sound off) thats ok then... but from what I understand on other posts people are being told to leave places at 2-2:30. ?? Frosty
  24. This story is created from the lyrics to a song... when I get home I will find and post it here... if I can remember. Frosty
