Mt Ttaxi has changed and has a website
frostfire replied to backdoorboy's topic in Transport in Thailand
No email back yet either... tho I saw on another thread that he may not be answering emails anymore since he is injured... Not sure. My guess is that this company is not related to Mr. T, but maybe bought his email and or contacts when he was injured to try to get his customers. If so... then I would shy away from the company for not just admitting that to begin with :) Frosty -
Mt Ttaxi has changed and has a website
frostfire replied to backdoorboy's topic in Transport in Thailand
It has been mentioned here.. but no clear answer was given. Apparently Mr T is unable to work... an accident of some sort, but without an answer from his email saying this is his... then its someone trying to play themselves off as him, which is pretty crappy... will update as soon as (and if) I get a answer back from mr T. Mt Ttaxi has changed and has a website
frostfire replied to backdoorboy's topic in Transport in Thailand
Already did actually, but I didn't ask him for a quote, I asked him to confirm that this is his website, not a 3rd party that books him at a elevated rate. We get all sorts of people linking fake websites on here... most of them fake. If this pans out, I will post here, and appologize... if not, I will make sure its deleted. Simple :) Frosty -

Funny, the phone numbers are not the ones I have for Mr.T And thats your first post... methinks SCAM. Guys, I would give this website a pass until we can confirm if it really is Mr.T. If it's not, then some enterprising BM is trying to hustle up some new customers using Mr.T's name - not a good way to start a business. Frosty -
It is... But then, its Stinky. Nothing at all to do with anything electrical.

Protecting your backup data from prying TGF
frostfire replied to MM's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Well, no... but I just found a version of FolderLock on giganews that seems ok. The crack instructions say you must manually block the app from "phoning home" to check registration using your firewall... easy enough to do, assuming you are using a firewall of some kind in vista? Just block the app's internet access after you install (install with your internet turned off, of course). If you want it, I will email it to you... its fairly small, and I already scanned it for viruses. Frosty -
Protecting your backup data from prying TGF

There are several options. Do you use Vista? (I seem to remember you use XP tho). If you have Vista or Windows 7, you can use BitLocker. Its a drive encryption system that will lock a whole hard drive (encrypt) using a windows user account or password. There are also several 3rd party tools that will do this. Each of them exchange speed for security however. They all slow down data access... but its well worth it in your situation. I had to use bitlocker here for the same reason - got my RAID-5 locked down now. Frosty -
If you have access to private DNS servers, they are even faster. I have used my own private DNS since moving here, and its always made a huge difference. I'm sure TT&T's DNS server is probably a old 386 they had sitting around Frosty

Why is it that you take every opportunity to bash M$, sam? Could it be jealousy? Business is ruthless. Always has been and always will be. Get over it. Frosty -
COFEE. And You Thought You Were Secure?
frostfire replied to Samsonite's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Almost on this one Joe. It IS a piece of software, that just happens to be on a USB drive. It is usable on any PC, disk, CD, etc if you have a copy of the software. It does not need to be plugged in to work, per se... only executed from any location (disk, internet, etc). Incorrect. That is true if you are talking about a private party trying to crack your files... but every single "retail" encryption system on the market uses a very small number of algorithms based on a private key. The FBI (and likely other law enforcement agencies) have these private keys and can use them to bypass your encryption systems in a matter of seconds. All legitimate security software makers assist the FBI when asked, and most companies use a single private key per product, and that key is usually used across most if not all versions of a particular product, so that once the FBI gets the private key, its good forever in cracking encryption created by that software. There are exceptions, but few. If it was me and I needed to hide something, I would use a multi-part RAR archive password protected in a "solid" archive. Doing it that way will prevent most scanners from detecting file names from within the archive, which means most detection software will never even know about the files in the first place, so the actual encryption will never be tested. Keep the file size to less than 5mb if possible, even if that means you need to have several hundred of the multi-part files. Large files raise flags. As was already pointed out... if they are at your door with a warrant in the first place, you are likely fucked no matter what you have or don't have on your computer. Frosty -
Soi 6 Hostess Bars with Guestrooms!
frostfire replied to Bornloser's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Agree with Mmaaarrrkkk here. (Ok, from now on its just Mark mate lol - that one is a pain to type correctly). Soi 6 is a great place to visit, and I am sure its a good place to stay for a night or 2... but I wouldnt want to stay there for an entire stay. But... if you want to do, go for it! It sure would be interesting to say the least lol. Most of the bars on Soi 6 have short time rooms, obviously, but few of them advertise rooms for rent, and I cant think of one of their names off the top of my head. But, that said, just because they do not advertise does not mean they would not rent... For this, were I you, I would just show up one afternoon and ask around. There is very little chance of your not finding a room on Soi 6, but in the off chance that it does happen, there will be plenty of other rooms available so you will not be stuck without a hotel. You can just wing it :) Frosty -
That's allowed... so long as I file IFR Frosty

Of course not. But most, if not all, Thai Airlines pilots are based in BKK.. unlike most other carriers that have many hubs around the world. I was just pointing out that to any pilot your "home" airport is always the most comfortable. None. But a pilot is a pilot. I have over 1000 hours... not much compared to many international carrier pilots to be sure, but enough to know that some things do not change. I am 100% sure that a pilots home base will always be more comfortable in any situation / weather. That doesnt change with the size of the airplane much. If anything, the stress would be higher for him than for me - after all I am coming in at a mere 50 knots, and hes pushing 180 on landing. (in other words I would get a scraped knee if something went wrong lol, he would go boom). Well, that... and I can glide down if I loose my engines lol. One of the things I really miss about the US is flying. I would usually go several times per month... been about 2 years now. Sucks. Going to have to bring my log book back with me and get my license transferred to Thailand so I can rent a cessna here. Frosty

almost New luxury FAN apartment for rent
frostfire replied to farangatang's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
What is the electric/water/cable billed at? Another option for someone would be to buy a portable AC unit for the room, if the electric isn't billed at something crazy, like 8bt. A good small AC unit can be bought for 10k baht, or used at 5-7k baht (if you can find one used). Might be a good investment if you want to stay in cheap rooms... tho not so good if you plan on returning west lol (it wont fit in your carry on bin) There are many Fan only rooms (furnished) available in town from 2500-4000, many of them larger than this one... but the pic looks like it might be a reasonable price considering the central location. If you want cheaper, go to Naklua or the darkside - the same type of room can be had at half the price, or close to it. Frosty -
I would, sure as shit. I am a private pilot, and I am ALWAYS, and by always I mean 100% and with absolutely no exceptions, a great deal more comfortable landing at my home airport. Even in heavy cross winds and gusting, which were fairly frequent where I learned to fly. Get a pilot experienced with a particular airport and the landing will always go smoother, IMHO. Frosty

Funny bit of trivia here... and I didnt know this until I moved to Thailand. Until then, I had only seen a brown egg a couple times (aside from ones for sale in some of the supermarkets). Turns out that, like humans, chickens' children are the same color as the parent :) Brown chickens lay brown eggs, white chickens lay white eggs. For "off color" chickens (and brown and white for that matter), the egg will almost always be the same shade of color as the chickens earlobe. Thought that was a bit funny. The best place to buy good fresh eggs is at any of the many open Thai markets around town. I personally get mine from the market in Naklua, and have for well over a year... never had a bad egg :) (and the price is good too!) I have noticed that with eggs bought in the stores, if you hard boil them to make egg salad (or just to eat hard boiled), the yolk is usually at the very edge of the egg, butt up against the shell, which makes for peeling them a right pain in the ass. Almost never happens with eggs from the market. Not sure why... I assume it has something to do with the eggs always being in the same position in the store (they are sitting upright all the time - never moved from one position from the time they are packaged in the factory in Issan or wherever). Strange. :) Frosty

Acer aspire notebook not recharging
frostfire replied to rogero's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Never install a BIOS that is not 100% DESIGNED, not just "compatible" with your laptop. If you have any doubts as to if the BIOS you have is made for your computer, do not install it. A failed BIOS installation can make your computer worthless as anything other than a paperweight, functional battery or no. My advice: use the plug until you get home and take it in to where you bought it and make them fix it for free, since its a defect. Frosty
