  1. I'm always on the lookout for ways to save cash, but I have always taken the limo Airport > Pty at reduced cost as follows:- On the plane, at a transit stop, waiting at emmigration or the carrosel be on the lookout for fellow pattaya bound pilgrims - they are not difficult to spot. Appraoch them and say "Going to Pattaya ? Like to share a taxi" If you team up making four you are going to pay little more than for the bus and enjoy some pattaya chat on the way !
  2. Chas Yes I'm off to LOS 18 March on Emirates and according to Tom its going to be a bit of a crush on board. Ah well I think I can put up with 12 hours on the plane with the prospect of 3 weeks in Pty !. I'm semi retired and tinkering with the idea of moving to Pty - mind you if I dont I can live with 3 visits a year of 3 weeks a time !. Let me know if you would like to meet for a beer - maybe I will be on my own, as my mate cannot make up his mind whether to go or not. (I'm from the Manchester Area)
  3. Dont mess about - book Emirates - Man > Dubai > BKK An excellent service with a break about half way into your flight at a very comfortable airport (Dubai). I've paid £534 for a departure on 18 March.
  4. Yes I've stayed at the Little Duck - no problems at all I was very satisfied. Good Pool & its a little tucked away from the noise and yet close to Soi7/8. Paid about 750 in April
  5. Fatboyfat Yes I have had experience of the luggage problem at Heathrow, when my case went astray a couple of years ago. Its not so bad when you are inbound but can be a problem when abroad without a change of clothes etc !. Regards Dave
  6. Tom: Thanks a lot for your quality advice, which I will follow in the next couple of weeks as soon as I can get my pal to commit to the trip and dates. Never been Eva - last three times on Emirates. I was very happy with their service, but for March/April their price seems to have climbed. Regards dave
  7. Is an Eva Connection possible from Manchester ? I have checked all the on-line ticket agencies and the best I can find in March/April Manchester > Bkk is about £530 from Air France vis Paris.
  8. Thanks for the info Tabmove I can't book my flight till into the new year, but sounds like Turkish is OK. Its funny how we all try a save a few bob on the flight and then blow it in an hour or two in Pattaya !. Dave
  9. Just been checking the airline ticket sites regarding my March 04 trip. Turkish Airlines are coming up with some very attractive prices. Manchester > Istambul > Bkk. Anyone flown with them ?
  10. Hi Shaul - I stayed at the Swiss Park just over a year ago for 2 nights. It was well situated close to the Nana Entertainment Area, Thermae and the skytrain. The rooms were quite small but comfortable and I had no complaints. There was a very small pool which I did not use. If I recall the rate was about 1000. I booked it via JK travel on Soi 8. If you intend taking a girl back ensure that you book a double room - this is more expensive but cheaper than paying the extra charge for a "guest".
  11. Geography and Statistics are subjects which have always interested me and whilst in Pattaya during September for 3 weeks I made a point of noting the Home Province/Town of the Isaan girls I met and talked to. The total sample was 83. This is the result of my survey:- % Korat 21 Burriram 15 Khon Kaen 12 Surin 11 Udon Thani 8 Ubon Ratchathani 7 Chaiyaphum 7 Roi Et 4 Sakhon Nakhon 3 Nakhon Phanon 2 Nong Khai 2 Others 8 I was also interested to see if girls from the same place tended to stick together in Pattaya. This did
  12. I took the trip Korat > Pattaya in May - took about 6 hours. The bus was an old non-VIP one and most of the fans did not work. A very gruelling journey !.
  13. I was in Pattaya last year in late january - It was not particularly busy, although far more so than in May or September when I returned. There was plenty of accomodation at the less popular hotels. Having said all of this I agree with the last post - better to make a reservation for the first few nights at least. You dont want to be walking around looking for somewhere to stay after a long trip.
  14. Sirusman I'm on Emirates EK372 from Dubai - leaves Dubai 9:40 My previous flight will be EK20 - leaves Manchester 20:35 arrives Dubai 06:45 I was a little suprised at the time because on previous occasions my Manchester Flight has left in the early afternoon. There must be 2 Emirates Man-Dubai each day. This time actually suits me better as I can spend the morning at work if needs be.
  15. My Emirates Flight should arrive as Above and I want to travel straight to Pattaya. Anyone like to share Taxi/Limo ?
  16. Nova Lodge Does the free breakfast deal include one for your girl ? If so and valueing a breakfast at 120 baht, it brings the price for the Nova down to approximately the same level as Flipper or Eastiny.
  17. Yes I'm addicted too. I'm 60 and semi-retired - just working now and again after selling my business. My aim is to make about 3 trips per year of about 3/4 weeks. At the moment I just dont think I could live in Pattaya. The pros are:- 1. The availability of sex and relationships with beautiful young girls at a very modest price. 2. The presence of many friendly farangs who are similarly placed to form friendships on a sort-term or long term basis 3. The exotic relaxed atmosphere - especially in the country away from Pty and Bkk. 4. Everything is to be had at a bargain price. The cons
  18. I stayed at the Little Duck a couple of years ago. I had no complaints about the room and the pool was not so tiny.
  19. Just got the following prices for Manchester > Bkk Out 5/9/03 Return 26/9/03 Turkish via Istambul £475 SAS via Copenhagen £494 Emirates via Dubai £498 I'm going for Emirates - Good service, reasonable food and seat (for economy) and Dubai is a good airport for the change of aircraft.
  20. Returned to UK BKK>Dubai>Manchester on 6 June BKK > Dubai 66% full Dubai > manchester 80%
  21. I've just returned from Pty. On arrival I checked into the Eastiny Place at a rate of 750, but later noticed the Flipper House offer of "Stay for 14 nights and pay for only 10). Next day I signed up for this deal. One downside ! - they could only offer me a room with two beds, although these are of a reasonable size to accomodate two. The total price for 14 nights was 8800 - not bad. Also I would rate the large Eastiny Place pool as better for excercise swimming. Although for this you can always go to Pattaya Park !.
  22. Ray - I have sent you a message with the details of my run (Not of interest to non-marathon afficinadoes) All was well until 18 miles when I "hit the wall" and had to walk the last 8 miles, finishing with a time of 5:01 - only nearly 3 hours behind Paula !. The ultimate disgrace was being overtaken by a Womble (large furry aminal from a children's TV series) and also by a Hippo ! :'(
  23. Tom Yes Paula is awesome and its nice to see England winning something for a change. Some of the Pattay Bar Girls are quite fit (in more ways than one). Last year I paid bar for one and noticed she had very strong looking legs on a young body. In the morning I asked her if she would like to "Go see Buddha" - the one on the hill overlooking Pty. She readily agreed particularly after I mentioned shopping afterwards. I surprised her stating that "We take walk" (from Soi 8). Going up the steep hill I started jogging and said that she should try and keep with me. She did that and more getting
  24. Thanks Guys - especially Pete and Tom - I've printed out all the info. This site gets better and better - is there no limit to the knowledge one can gleen from freelancerbar.com. I have started fantasing about the Pattaya marathon already, including stopping when exhausted to receive a reviving massage at SabiaDee or even for quick ST on Soi 8 !. Seriously I think it would have to be the half marathon, as the full one would be just too difficult in the heat. I wonder how many farangs actually complete the course ?. There are a few runners in Pattaya - I once met a Dutch man who ran from Nakl
  25. Last weekend - I took part in the London Marathon (A great experience like my first visit to Pattaya) Before the start I chatted to another competitor and discussed marathons we had run in different parts of the world. I mentioned I was going to be in Thailand in 5 weeks and he stated that there were 2 Thai marathons. Bangkok and another in "a place called Pattaya". I said that I was familiar (quite an understatement) with Pattaya but did not know about the marathon. Anyone know if there is such an event ? What time of year and the route ? It must be a tough proposition to run 26 miles in t
