  1. Guys - Shall I tell you of one of my worst moments in Pattaya ? OK I will !. Prior to my trip I had been in the US on business and had some $ notes left which I took to pattaya and had in my wallet along with baht of varying denominations. After getting off the baht bus at Soi 8 with a particularly tasty girl from Paris A'gogo I accidentaly gave the driver a $50 bill instead of 20 baht. He was off like a shot and I never saw the 50 again. One happy bus driver !. This was a blow to my pride as a shrewd man about Pattaya more than the loss of the 50 and the incident severely affected my per
  2. Valentino - Thanks for guiding me to that site. I guess I meant the airport bus. I would probably end up in Chang Mai if I boarded a public bus !.
  3. Supplement to my message My e-mail address is now dave.gap@ntlworld.com Just a minor detail - I'm rearing to go !!
  4. I'm arriving at the airport about 13:00 hours on May 15 Previously I just took a Thai limo and made a comfortable and easy trip to Pty. However this time I'm not in any hurry and getting there around about 5 to 7 pm would be just fine. So I think I will try the public bus to Ekamai bus station and then to Pattaya. Not to save money you understand - I will probably blow the saving (1200 baht ?) in double quick time, but rather just for the experience.
  5. I asked my girl how much she paid on the baht bus and she replied 5. "How much should I pay ?" - "10" she said. "You are farang" ! "Then if i am with you i give him 15 - 1 Thai 1 Farang" I said ? "No" she said "you give 20". Why I said ? "that means if Iam with you - you are farang as well" "Oh no - I am Thai" she said. "I dont understand" I said. ??? "You are farang & must pay 10" She said At which point we got to Soi 8 and of course paid 20 and moved the discussion to another topic. I intend to persue this discussion during my May trip which is getting ever closer !!!!!!
  6. Just finished reading John Grisham's "A Painted House". A charming novel about life in rural Arkansas in about 1950. I enjoyed it so much that I have bought a pile of his books to read during my 3 week trip commencing 12 May. Have any of you observed the Thai girl's reading materials ?. In November I bought my last girl several Thai woman's magazines. The content seemed mainly to be comic book stuff and I've never seen any girl reading what seems to be a serious book. This seems to be borne out by the fact that as far as a know there are only two proper bookshops in Pattaya.
  7. Hi Mark (Onmyway) We have exchanged messages on the Pattayabargirls site ( I'm Soi8dave there !). I'm in town 15 May - 3 June. Not sure whether to book the Eastiny Place or Flipper. Rooms at Flipper are better but the E.P. has a big pool. Funny we are all talking about saving 100 baht - the price of a coke here in England !. Maybe I will see you on 16 May. Enjoy yourself ! Dave P.S. Anyone else interested in a beer or 3 - send me a message !
  8. Anyone know the rate at the Flipper for 2 weeks in May ?. I've been quoted 800 at the Eastiny Place. I only paid 700 in November.
  9. Hi I'm a fitness freak as well as being one who enjoys the girls, beer and Sanuk of Pattaya I've been in two gyms - the Universe on Beach Road and the Royal Garden. The latter is a more upmarket place with air-con and luxury facilities. It has clientele and customers to match, but not a gym for heavy duty "pumping iron". The Universe is hot and sweaty but there is a good atmosphere, and encouragement to get stuck into your workout. At about 2.oo pm I normally do an hours weights followed by a run along Beach Road. After a shower and feeling great I head for TQ1 AGoGo a couple of hundred yar
  10. I beginning to wonder if my planned trip in May will be disrupted by the probable war ??? Particularly as I am booked on Emirates Manchester > Dubai >Bangkok. Anyone know what happened during the last Gulf Conflict ?. Also will Cobra Gold happen this year ?
  11. Hi Bodfish I've paid £486 on Emirates from Manchester via Dubai. Arriving Friday 15 May, departing 3 June. I may change this latter date to give me another week (see my post about changing departure dates) If you are in town during this period, let me know and perhaps we could meet up.
  12. I'm arriving on Emirates Flight EK382 from Dubai at 12:25 and intend to travel directly to Pattaya for 3 weeks of girls & beer. Anyone like to share the taxi & some chat about our favorite town ? cya Dave (E-mail Dave5381@aol.com)
  13. Thanks Mats & Tom. Just out of interest I asked my travel agent what it would cost to extend my stay by a week. They replied that this could be done for a fee of £75.00. This seems a bit high. I have obtained the Emirates address and telephone number in Bangkok, from their web-site so I can try and arrange a change when in LOS if that is what I want to do. Perhaps the impending war will mess up all our plans !. Someone else has told me that he once did this with a world traveller BA ticket to the U.S.A. - over the phone they mentioned a fee payable on departure at the airport
  14. I have bought an economy return ticket on Emirates giving me stay in LOS of 3 weeks. Maybe I will want to stay longer - it will depend on how I feel and also my commitments back in the U.K Have any members got experience in changing a depature date ?. I spoke to one guy last year who said he had done this at JK travel on Soi 8 for a small fee.
  15. Just made a booking on Siingapore Airlines Manchester > Singapore > Bangkok Out Wed 15 May Back 4 June Total inc Tax £445.00 Have used Emirates via Dubai before. Excellent airline. Good seats, meals, and the wait at Dubai is OK.
  16. I keep in touch - gave me e-mail address to a girl i had been with for about 10 days - she could speak English but i was really suprised when i got a e-mail that i could understand well. She told me that an ajoining bar was owned by an English Guy who helped her. Thae girls are resourceful !
  17. When I try to get into the chat room I get a large white screen with an icon. in the middle, which says something to the effect that you should click after installing the plug-in. What is the procedure here ?
  18. Was there this year - wet through most of the time Can be good fun though
  19. Hi dainnorth I should arrive Bangkok on the Emirates Flight EK 382 from Dubai at 12:05 on 30 October (Wednesday) so yes lets try and share a taxi to Pattaya. I have just e-mailed the Eastiny Place Hotel on Soi 8 for a reservation. Stayed there in April - nice hotel with good pool and it was only 700 baht. Please e-mail me back with further details of how we can meet up Dave5381@aol.com Regards Dave from manchester
  20. Eastiny Place No good if you like Durian. Apparenty its a delicious but foul smelling fruit. There are notices near the elevators (lifts if you are British) warning not to bring it in.
  21. Best Pool in my Opinion is at the Eastiny Place , Soi 8, one of the most under-rated hotels in Pty. Good value 700-800. Nice rooms, girl friendly
  22. I'm arriving with a pal on Wednesday 18 April , which co-incides with the last couple of days of Songkran. We are staying for 2 weeks. Is Pattaya especially busy during Songkran ?. Will we have a problem finding accomodation ?. Any advice would be appreciated !!! Thanks Dave
  23. Hi - Read your reveiw about the Eastiny Place. I stayed there in January and would like to book for April. Do you have their e-mail address ?. Thanks Dave
