Asiana B777 crashes at San Fransisco airport
eddydb replied to dennismoore's topic in Airline Discussion
I could see the aftermath from my back deck. My next door neighbor called me a couple of minutes after the crash to alert me. From my vantage point, I thought that almost all the passengers would have died. Passengers are now saying the the plane didn't go up in flames until they were off. Sounds like the flight attendants did an excellent job of getting everyone off very quickly. After watching the news coverage it certainly looks like the pilot "shorted" the landing, He didn't miss by much, but it never should have been that close. The weather was not a factor.........i -
Pattaya: what is the best street to stay?
eddydb replied to TheHunter's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi there.....It's ben 3 years since I have been in Pattaya but I prefer to stay on Soi 13. I have stayed at the Sandy Spring several times and find the location to work well with the places I visit most (Walking Street and the Soi 7&8 beer bars). I will be staying on Soi 13 for my next trip in March Since it's been 3 years......I do have a quick question. What's the going foreigner rate for a moving baht bus? -
I stayed at the Flipper House last year and I was very disappointed. The first room they gave me was dirty and showed a ton of wear and tear. I asked for another room and it was just as bad (torn carpet, dirty bathroom, warped and cracked bathroom mirror etc). I moved to a delux room at the Flipper Lodge after 2 nights.

I just booked my for my October trip. Eva Delux from SFO-BKK for $695 plus tax for a total of $890. The conomy flight is $492 plus tax for a total of $695. Great rates right now.......I love Eva and never fly anything else anymore.

Buying Skoal or Copenhagen or snuff
eddydb replied to livestrong's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Livestrong, If you find a place make sure and let me know. I've only found my cope in PI never in Thailand. -
Thanks Hilly,,,,the Asia Hotel sounds perfect. WB, I do prefer long courses but not going to take first time golfers out to one. I live next to 3 very challenging 18 hole courses,,,,,so I get my fill of golf. But thanks for the info. We will be in Ptty end of Oct to Nov,,,,,,but you a beer!

My first time in the golf section! OK, I'm a golfer and play at least once a month but I've never played in LOS. Most of my travel partners have never played before. Are there any Par 3 or 9 hole courses near pattaya? Just looking for a simple and convenient place to play with some new hackers. We will need a course that rents clubs, shoes, etc. These are first time golfers so just looking for a fun daytime activity,,,,,,,besides Soi6! Thanks

I stayed at he Dynasty for 1 night becuase Sandy Spring was booked for my first night. I wasn't too impressed with the room. Showed at lot of wear and the a/c was weak. I like the rooms at the Sunshine better. Never stayed at the Lek but have heard good things about it.

Very good work!

Great find,,,,,been looking for that forever!

I’ve been riding my whole life.....but one thing I have vowed is to never get on a motorcycle/motorbike etc in Thailand. Five trips and I have seen a bad accident every single trip. Just be careful and always ride very defensively.

I would say NO! I know Pattaya hotels are really booked right now but I hope you can do better. I stayed in the old wing for 1 night last May. The carpet was run-down and the bathroom was a joke. It looked like the someone had taken a flame-thrower to the bathroom mirror and floor (melted and discolored). Overall the room just looked old and worn-out. I'm not that picky but I moved after 1 night of a 10 night stay. I love the rooms at the Lodge.....but guessing they are booked. Eastiny Inn delux rooms are cheap and nice,,,,,but a little noisy. Sunshine very nice but a little more pr

Just received my silver card from EVA. What can I expect from the lounge in Taipei? Do they have showers? Beds? Good food and drinks? Internet options? Think it would be great to shower in between flights. Thanks

I had a gotee on 3 previous trips then shaved it off right before my 4th for a wedding here at home. The girls told me I looked better with it........so I grew it back during the trip.

Help me out folks - never been to Pattaya
eddydb replied to uktraveller's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
BigMike, Where did you get a 990baht rate for Sandy Spring? Checking out the website....it says 1200-1550baht a night. I like the look of the hotel.....if it was in the 1000 I would try it. Thx -
good clean accomadation in bkk
eddydb replied to blondeboy68's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I paid 1350 at the Majestic for a delux room. It is my current favorite BKK hotel right now, but it might be out of your budget. Check out the Royal Asia Lodge on Soi 8. Decent location and very guest friendly. The rooms are a little worn but it's in your budget....easy to get a room for 800baht or less. -
Thanks for the help guys. ''Mekong Angkor Palace" looks like it could work for us.

Planning a side trip to Cambodia in October. Any recommendations for hotels in Siem Reap? Planning a few days of sightseeing at Angkor plus some fun at night. This trip will be about 50% sightseeing and 50% exploring the nightlife. Looking for something clean, decent price, and convenient. Is about $30 USD a decent price to plan on a room in Siem Reap? Thanks

Ting Tong, The two guys who bought the watches were Chinese,,,,lol. They were happy that Wong came down from 3500 to 3000. I'm sure if I was by myself I could have got a lot better deal.......don't think Wong wanted to come down after just charging them 3000. I'll go there by myself in October and see how I can do.

Another vote for Mr Wong. Just follow the smell of fish and head to the back of the market. His little shop has a sign outside "Mr Wong". He has the best Tag copies I have seen in Thailand. But make sure you give the watch a very close inspection....I did find a few with flaws. My two buddies each bought a Tag last trip in April......they are still running perfect. They paid 3000 baht a piece. I thought the price was a little steep....I tried to talk him down but he wouldn't budge. So I passed..........

Flipper vs. Flipper vs. Eastinny
eddydb replied to JayBee's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I've also stayed at all three. My favorite is a FLIPPER LODGE delux room. Stayed a night at the Flipper House last trip. I reserved a delux room in the new wing and the room I got was in pretty bad shape. I thought they made a mistake and booked me in the old wing.....turns out it was the new wing. Stayed at both Eastiny hotels.....both decent but rooms a little more wear and tear than the lodge. Flipper Lodge.....great delux rooms, great off-season deals, and a great staff. -
I''m flying Eva from SFO - BKK next week. I booked the evergreen delux on their website for $803. Economy was about $660. In my opinion Evergreen Delux is the only way to go.....i'll never fly economy again.

I spent a few nights at the Koh Chang Cliff Beach Resort. I was able to negotiate the price down to about 1800 per night. This place is well worth it. www.kohchangcliffbeach.com
