  1. To quote Billie Beane: Do we call it a manzier - or a bro? .
  2. Whoa! Nice quality there MM. Definitely un-live however. But I think I spotted one of those bare-breasted, er, people responsible for bringing down Thailand! .
  3. As do dozens of others. And that of course is the problem for a multi-billion baht project that was supposed to serve the millions of the flying public - the tourists, sure, but especially the local flying public. For MOST people who fly, the train is extremely unpleasant to get to in the first place - lots of traffic, no parking and no check-in except for a couple of airlines. There's not even a schedule of when the trains go to the airport. You have to lug, really and truly LUG your baggage. It is definitely slower than simply proceeding to the airport, which is served by excellent roads which virtually never have traffic jams. (The downtown traffic jams exist whether you're going to the train or to the airport, that's a wash.) Most people who fly, drive to the airport, or are driven by relatives or whatever. The rest have never complained about taking a taxi, it's not as if there was this huge demand for the train in the first place. And NOW the, er, extremely controversial transport minister tells us that it was poorly designed from the start. Which of course it was. In order to succeed, the train has to overcome inertia and show how much better it is than a taxi/car. But it didn't, because it can't, because it is NOT better than a taxi or car. But dozens of riders won't support this train service. .
  4. Some posters here predicted this monstrosity would fail even before its properly subdued grand opening. The entire project seemed designed to fail. It was a boondoggle from start to, probably, the very quickly approaching finish. It simply doesn't serve the flying public in any manner. .
  5. Give it up. You're not going to change the world or even one of the posters here, and it's getting very old. It also sounds exceptionally stupid that you buck the world on who are Americans, but then preach that there are only three countries that have Americans in them. You don't even know that Thanksgiving is a very big Canadian holiday. Give it up. .
  6. It's probably a better bet that Thailand will get 6G when most are on 5G. That's the way it usually happens in Thailand. It's like the military, long waits interspersed with the occasional frantic burst of activity. Thailand usually doesn't play catch-up, it plays go-ahead, THEN it just sits there and sits there. .
  7. Not any more. They were arguing about that, but they've gone backwards. Of course that's what it's all about. .
  8. There is no 3G to speak of in Thailand. There are tiny pockets of it in Bangkok and Chiang Mai last I heard - but it's testing and it's very restricted. And there isn't going to be any wide 3G service in Thailand for a very long time, either. .
  9. Developing into a nice series this one. The Kings wore black for the first time in the playoffs since the Iroquois pillaged the Algonquins and made them convert to tree-worship. But I have to give this signmaker props, nice one: .
  10. Don't know about "here" (probably you're right) but Kevin Na takes the cake. Get outta here Rory, you're an amateur at this blowup thing. .
  11. Your girl friend will know about Fuji. That chain is really worth it - excellent stuff at prices you can really afford. .
  12. Seen more goals in a soccer game, Vic. Bruins looked terrible, but the Habs just couldn't put it in the goal. 1-0 until 17-minute mark of the 3rd period. Entertaining game but no Cup winner evident here. And your Bisons 1-0 too, Vic. What is it with these soccer scores? .
  13. Well if you're not bringing clubs, you'll have to pick a course, call the pro shop and ask about rentals and (probably) repeat. The rest of the gear is roughly US prices, maybe a tad more. You pretty much have to have a caddy of course. Carts are somewhere near 700 baht a round, roughly - more or less. .
  14. Agreed in spades. The problem with SAYING it like that is it makes him sound like a "jack of all trades" and fact was he WAS a master of them. That Cleveland catch itself was flashy, the hat falling off and all - plus in a World Series. It made good film-at-11 action. In many ways, it was actually fairly routine, a catch that a lot of people would make. If anything Mays made it look harder than it really was for a good outfielder - many say he made the hat fly off for the theatre of it. I'd believe that because I believe he could make a very good play look routine and also ham it up at the same time. .
  15. Tee times are usually no problem - and if one course is taken, go to the next, there are lots. Equipment rental is usually dismal at best, though. If you're really taking up golf, you're really going to have to get clubs. Some pro shops have horrible sets for rent, some have none at all. Even borrowing is usually more reliable. Someone may suggest a course or two with decent clubs for rent, but I've been to a lot of courses and seldom seen good ones. That goes double or triple for driving ranges which pretty well never have rental clubs. Pro shops, the department stores and the like can fit you out with a beginners' set, plus shoes, balls, tees, a couple of gloves and so on. I wouldn't use "cheap" as a descriptor, but you can get outfitted without breaking the bank. Or borrow a friend's clubs if possible - although many-many of them really don't want to lend their precious clubs. .
  16. Yeah, that's why Ted Williams never did too much either. And that Elvis Presley guy, the army really cut into his records (pun intended). Also that unpatriotic draft-dodging Pepsi Rocket Richard never would have scored 50 if Bill Juzda hadn't gone in the RCAF. .
  17. They don't have to score very often, because the guy who wears the pads means the other team can't score either. This is my upset team, I think they will spoil Detroit and move on.
  18. You realise the OP finished his trip in 2007?? .
  19. You'll be fine on the 16th. It's over in Bangkok, it's not too seriously started in Pattaya. The only problem will be Bangkok people leaving Pattaya to get back home early - but you won't see much of that, if any. I don't think Pattaya will be any worse traffic-wise than any other Saturday night, meaning it will be horrible but moving fairly often. .
  20. I never thought Barry was an actual god. .
  21. Er. From the responses, I think you need Libre Office. Open Office isn't bad (yet), but it is dying. .
  22. They didn't even do that. They lost a game they could win and qualify. Then Dallas lost for them while they watched on TV and got in. They didn't slide, Dallas pushed them. Pretty pathetic. That said, I still like the Black Hawks. They've got a better team than their record shows. I don't THINK they will produce, but they can -- and this is playoff hockey. Overall, on record and season performance, nothing in the East will much challenge the West. Lucky for us, they're playing on ice, not paper. I like Vancouver and the Ducks. I do believe Philly can get it together but it will be a high mountain. Wild card underdog: How much do the Caps really want it? Any year in the past four years, they COULD have won it. .
  23. Their lifetime of course, not yours. Terms may be changed without notice. If there's a slimier bunch of businesses than gyms/fitness, Thailand has been unable to find it. .
  24. You'll never go wrong with that. But then some web page or something will bite you in the butt. When you look in the mirror, it's not a bad idea to note: "Yes, yes of course I am. But am I paranoid ENOUGH?" But better safe than sorry, no args. The download solution is not bad. Never be the first, watch the comments sections, wait at least a few days. If the software is bad, you'll get a warning. And to be fair, buying the legal stuff as you mentioned above is almost as safe as careful illegal downloading. I have a lot of software. I believe in horses for courses, and I have little programs that do one thing only, many of which are running all the time. Most are freeware, and downloaded. I try never to be first adopter. So far, knock on wood, etc. .
  25. Most/many customs won't. I've been closely attended to three times in recent years at US airports, and I always carry a lot of CDs direct from Pantip. The US customs folks looked at the disks, tossed them back in the suitcase. I didn't ask, but presumed they were looking for the kiddie porn ones. First, they'd have to prove they were even pirated. In my cases at least, they had much better things to do. .
