  1. Be as sceptical as you want. The FACT is that you could check that out but would rather cavil than simply google something like "libreoffice ellison", say, and check out your scepticism. Knock yourself out. Curious, though: Why do you sign your post? I've seen only a couple of people who do that and don't recall your doing it. .
  2. Good for the African. Just wondering if there was some mistake and what happened to the rest of his name when he was born? Felt a bit for the Australians, three of them right there but not quite. Felt for poor Rory - with every camera on his every scratching of his balls, he blew up. That's a tough thing, with the whole world watching, poor guy. Tiger sure made Day Four interesting, he may not be back but he still can rivet them, can't he? .
  3. Be as sceptical as you want. The FACT is that Libre Office is the new iteration of Open Office, and the FACT is you could check that out but would rather cavil. Up to you. .
  4. Never say "never" of course, but almost always this is the heuristics checking of the anti-virus programs, which are (correctly) identifying that the cracks and installers and serial-number generators are CAPABLE of changing your software - which, of course, is exactly what they are supposed to do. So the heuristics work, they identify software that is designed to change system software - but that is precisely why you purchased/borrowed it, so all is well with the world. I've never personally seen an actual virus or similar malware/bad program on a disk purchased at the Bangkok IT malls, and I've gone through a lot of them and for many years. On the other hand, big "trusted" software companies have shipped disks with viruses and worse on them, including Norton and others. All in all, general statement - the disks and DVDs at Tukcom and similar in Bangkok and elsewhere are very reliable. Also going out of date, unfortunately because no one trusts Larry Ellison to keep the Sun source code "honest". Have a look at the new fork: Libre Office .
  5. And again, I don't disagree, but (at least in my experience/hearing) they don't use the hi-so term, nor does decent society use hi-so in describing them. It's possible I missed it. It may vary from province to province, etc, etc. - I'm not arguing, just saying. I'd personally put these people much closer to godfathers and warlords than "society" but that's me. .
  6. You aren't wrong but as you say it IS linked to money. Also, the "power" part isn't part of hi-so. Power is an entirely different concept. Hi-so is parties and presence. Once you're the PM or the commanding general, you're not hi-so any more. That is: You can have lots of money and NOT be hi-so. Disagree here. Hi-so is pretty much a Big City concept. Out in the provinces it *is* about power, pretty much and that sugar factory guy may well be the big man. Society in the provinces isn't worth much consideration, doesn't get much respect. But again, money is crucial - without money or at least the trappings of money, you aren't much. .
  7. You only made it up? You've been lying and cheating us? Well, what about the Muslim thing, then? PLEASE don't tell us you're not really a mullah leading the weekly anti-royalty demos, I couldn't take it if you made that up, too. I also said "you" not MM. I know the meaning of "you". I know that to edit something requires change too, else it isn't edited. I can't believe you don't know that, sorry, I think you're making the ignorance up.. .
  8. No "perhaps" to it. Pasty couldn't/can't edit his username. quote "YOU" unquote can't edit your username. OP asked how he can edit his username. He can't, either. .
  9. You can't change your name. It's your "birth certificate" and everything else on the board flows from it. You want a new name, you have to start all over. .
  10. The 19th is (always scheduled to be) the really big day. It is always thus. I'm a little surprised the biggest transport companies are begging off and not just rerouting and adapting -- but I'd be really gobsmacked if they did it more than once. By that I mean, the highways into Bangkok the night of the 17th from the north will be really packed and jammed and you'll think stop-and-go is an achievement -- but not only do all the buses run, they put on a lot of extra ones. I'm a little weirded that Bell and others are not even going to try to meet demand. .
  11. They can go back and read what's there. Since there's nothing there in this case, then, no, they can't. But by all means stamp your little feet in the puddles and splash yourself. I'm married. .
  12. It's going to be tough, lying there dying of nothing. And your last thought is "I should have had the T-bone followed by the chocolate mousse". Let's hope it's not for a long time, of course. .
  13. Yes, your first six words being the key. If it's possible, try to avoid Pattaya for cancer consultation/treatment, but Bangkok Pattaya is a good (expensive) hospital without doubt. Personally, I'd go to a lot of trouble and pain to move somewhere out of Pattaya, probably (but not necessarily) Bangkok for my hypothetical cancer. If I HAD to go in, in Pattaya, it'd be BPH for sure. .
  14. Agreed. What I wrote and Fondles got a little bit right, was that Bangkok, the airport and the highway TO Pattaya will be business as usual, not the Pattaya area. Parts of the Pattaya area will be post-Songkran as normal and busy and maddening as Hades. .
  15. Not yours. Pretty old. Funny. But you should give credit it, not seem to want it yourself. .
  16. All clubs, but especially woods, should be flexible enough to wrap AROUND trees without breaking -- the club that is, phuock the trees! .
  17. "Treatment" means surgery, probably? Far better is to get her to the Bangkok Hospital. They are cancer people. Their Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital (internal to the main hospital) is as good as it gets. Bangkok Hospital is at Soi Soonvijai 7, New Petchaburi Road in Bangkok. Geographically, that is approximately across New Petchaburi from Soi 55 Sukhumvit, but any taxi driver knows Bangkok Hospital (02) 310-3000. Good luck. .
  18. ssswwwooOOOooosssshhh! .
  19. Very disappointing finish to a pretty good and often exciting tournament. Congrats to Uconn and to all the BMs who picked them from the start AHEM! .
  20. Any reason you didn't quote me as writing that? (Yes, of course there's an excellent reason.) What is this "relevance" bullspit? Must I now start calling you on posts that are not precisely relevant to the OP? Surely not!!! .
  21. Khun Sabai krap, Um. Just about no ED drug in Pattaya pharmacies and most Bangkok pharmacies is authentic. Pretty well all of them are knock-offs. It's not impossible to get Viagra or Cialis in Thailand, but it's relatively difficult compared to the various knock-offs - and of course expensive since Viagra and Cialis are "legitimate" and all the others are not, and are illegal and have passed no regulation or inspection. None of that means they are dodgy, bad or dangerous but they don't meet your accountability requirement and are definitely fraudulent. .
  22. Like this, Stinky. ttk, do you really think "around Pattaya" is the same as "in Pattaya"? You don't, do you? Otherwise you wouldn't use both of them? On the 18th of April, you (and the OP of course) will be able to get TO Pattaya from the airport. There is no reason to think there will be any gridlock on any of the various roads AROUND Pattaya that could be involved in that trip. There IS reason to predict that some of the roads IN Pattaya will be quite busy, maybe even gridlocked in some case(s). But I said that in my very first post on the subject. .
  23. Nah. Just reading what I wrote and commenting on THAT would not only be sufficient, it would be a major step forward for some of the cowboys here, not all by any means, but some. .
  24. I almost never make hard recommendations, just give some choices - but I actively and strongly urge regular (non-corporate) users NOT to use Norton or Symantec. I kind of like frosty's word "heavy" but by whatever word they are pigs. I've seen hundreds of viruses I'd rather have than these anti-virus dogs. Just like to echo frosty that a serious PC/device user needs anti-virus (AVG as an example, although I think it's getting too big too), needs anti-malware/adware (Spyboy as an example). I use the free, "light" Microsoft Essentials for anti-virus and general checking, it's my first/main defence and the only thing that runs 24 hours. I have Avast as my anti-virus scanner/backup and Malwarebytes as the anti-adware backup. A check for rootkits once in a while is a really good idea, too. Sysinternal makes RootkitRevealer which I think is a good choice for starters. I still disagree with frosty about "free" sites, of which I use dozens and dozens, but that's life. A major part of security is having confidence in your system. Frosty is confident, so am I. I disagree that there is *one* system or a system that is "better" than another automatically. .
  25. It's not an option for the OP, who is arriving several days after Songkran ends in Bangkok. And the airport. And the highway to Pattaya. Not sure why you think frosty and Joe said two different things. Joe said it would NOT be jammed between Bangkok and Pattaya, and that getting TO Pattaya would not be a problem -- although there were likely to be traffic jams IN Pattaya. Frosty said there will be traffic jams IN Pattaya. Why you think these are two different versions is what I'm not sure about. .
