Believe it or not, the last few times I was in Kittens I wasn't ripped off at all. They were even doing a two for one drink special, so I bought one Heineken and they brought me two. The only strange thing was that at one point I couldn't tell if the girl that came to sit with me was a Katoey or not. He/she made a big point of having me feel her tits. I got the impression it wasn't a real girl. J

You should include some sort of a warning notice. People don't want to look at that crap.

I'm not sure there's any one club that should be avoided. Face it, if a place is no good, it probably won't be in business long. Your best bet is to just keep your wits about you and if you aren't feeling right about a place, pay up and leave. J

What to do?..Ill arrive 1:10am into BKK.....

If it were me, I'd just have a room booked in Bankok. Maybe stay a day or two and then go to Pattaya. In any event, you can surely find girls in Bangkok at 2AM. J -
I had breakfast there once. Not really recommended. J

I've been lucky. The last time I had a cavity filled was 1963. My parents made sure I had fluoride treatments when I was a kid. It must have worked. Still, I have about three or four fillings from way back then. The last dentist I saw wanted to replace them, but I figured he just wanted to make money, so I passed. Maybe the next time I'm in Thailand I'll look into it. I wonder what it would cost, per filling, for replacements? J

You might check the Metro Apartments. They've got a big screen TV down in the bar. Maybe you can talk them into tuning in to what you want to watch, assuming it's on their satellite. J

Well, so far, no money has been drained form my bank accounts. The Mac has been great. J

No one says you have to "limit" yourself to the area. My only point was that it isn't at all a bad place to stay. If you want to go to Walking Street or wherever, baht busses run down Soi Bukoaw every few minutes. J
-
Why bother to compare it to Walking Street? It is what it is, and that's not too bad. A person could spend his entire vacation in the vicinity and have a great time. Plenty of places to eat, plenty of bars, and plenty of girls. Plus, it has a neighborhood feel to it. J

Do you support capital punishment?
js007 replied to azharleyboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
What ever happened to penal colonies? Find some remote island somewhere and leave people there for the rest of their lives. That should keep them out of trouble. Sort of like in the movie Papillon. j -
I think the Absolute Sea Pearl has a 1000 baht joiner fee. I'm not sure about the other one. You could email them and ask. Have you checked out the Tropica Bungalows? They used to have no joiner fee if you booked a double. J
-
I think you'll find that most of the so called "upper end" hotels in Phuket are not guest friendly. For example, you may be charged a 1000 baht joiner fee. Your best bet is to do a search for hotels and then email the ones you're interested in about their policy towards any guests you may have. J

The day I found a key logger on my PC was the day I turned it off and went out and bought a Mac. I haven't had a problem since. J

Bangkok. I can't imagine it would be bad. After all, it's only one night. But if you're getting there on the 29th, then you'd have a few days. One day at Nana Plaza, one day for Soi Cowboy, one day for Soi 33. Something like that. And those places are just be beginning. J

I remember reading somewhere that they were thinking about allowing online reporting for the 90 day address thing. Maybe it was on an Immigration web site? Anyway, it would make sense. J

The normal retirement visa requires a one year renewal. Still, it's not that onerous if you have your papers in order. J

Just out of curiosity, what to they charge, per month, for your internet service? Is that the best available? J

Yep. Once upon a time, Times Square was degenerate beyond all belief. There must have been 80 hookers per square meter. Well, maybe not quite that many, but it was a sight to behold. When I first moved to NYC in the mid 70s I had a car for a few weeks until I got rid of it. Anyway, I went driving around Manhattan one night, just to check out the 3AM activities. Times Square had the most hookers I'd ever seen in one place in my life. Maybe 50 per block. Pimpmobiles everywhere. It was one of those places that was wild and crazy, 24/7. And then they decided to "clean it up." At this point, it might as well be Disneyland. What fun is that? J
-
It is what it is. The Times Square of Pattaya (before Giuliani fucked it up). It's not like you can't go somewhere else if you're tired of it. Anyway, there are lots of fun places there. J

Asiarooms still have savai lodge rooms available
js007 replied to Tez_150's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
950 for a room in high season is good. Last time I was there in high season (November-January) and ended up paying something like 1800 baht a night, although it was my fault because I didn't reserve a room until late. J -

It's OK, but the price is probably more than it's worth. I've stayed there, though, without a problem, for the most part. One time the laundry lost some of my clothes, but they found them later in the day. Anyway, I like the Soi 2 location, and the baht buses go by right in front. J. -
I stayed there twice, but never bar fined a girl from the bar downstairs while I was staying there. I have gone with a girl from there, but only when I was staying somewhere else. Maybe those were unnecessary precautions, but I like to keep the drama to a minimum. J
-
It's a good place to stay, and you can't beat the location. Also, the price is right. The food in the bar is good, and they'll bring anything on the menu up to your room. Sometimes, though, they're booked up, so if you want to stay, make a reservation. J

I suppose it depends on how big of a deal 2 million baht is to the guy. For some, that's pocket change. In any event, it would be nice to have a place to call your own, with your own stuff in it. I'd worry about security, though. Maybe a condo in one of the high rises would be OK. I think you can pay your condo fees and electric bill in advance. On the other hand, there are always hundreds of places for rent, and the rents aren't too much. J
