Need 1000 baht hotel recommendation please
Emil replied to camus's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
JP Court has construction going on next door so you might have a noise problem. -
I'm arriving 15 hours after you and I doubt that you want to wait. In the future if you arrive at that time you might want to consider the Bell bus service, 150 baht all in from airport to your room.

Thanks for the correction, I noticed another Yellow House massage just off of 2nd Rd where the Bangkok Bank is located. I wonder if its under the same ownership. Also for the OP, try to go on a Wednesday. Then during your wait you can hop on a baht bus and head back towards Pattaya. Get off where the Jade House is located and if you buy a 200 baht drink voucher you can eat their free buffet. Dessert is extra.

If you do have to wait a few hours to get your extension, I've been told that a good way to kill some time is to go to the nearby Yellow House massage on Soi 5. I've never been but have read some very positive posts about the services provided.

I'll try a few of your questions. Jomtien Immigration is located on Soi 6 maybe a 200 meter walk after you get of the baht bus. The extension use to be good for 2 weeks when I got my last one but have been told that its now only good for 7 days. Cost was 1900 baht. You need to bring a passport photo, photo copies of your passport info page plus copies of the pages that contain the entry stamp and your departure card and your passport. Go in the morning and they should have it done in the afternoon and do it about a week before your 30 days is up. If your 50 years old then I would recommend you getting the retirement visa with a multiple re-entry permit.

You might be talking about the town of Bang Saray, if so I've eaten at the seafood restaurant thats located just north of the main town area on the beach. The food was excellent and have eaten there about 6 times however I don't know the name as I've always gone with boardmember irishman.

Well if he's getting paid for all the time he spends on this board posting his words of wisdom, then he should be able to afford the additional money he had to pay for his flight.
-
How about Topps or Carrefour and then catch a baht bus. Carrefour does close at midnight.
-
Not only the bonus miles but additional luggage allowance, better seating and free access to lounges. Also not all of the airlines require the same amount of miles for a freebie. Some 60k, some 70k and others 100k.

I just returned from LOS today and while waiting in the Red Carpet lounge for my last leg of the flight (SFO to Sacramento) I was thinking of pulling a Sybarite and hang in the lounge until the boarding process began. I decided to leave 15 minutes prior in case Murphy's Law kicked in and sure enough it did for United Airlines. They had overbooked this flight and as soon as they began the anouncement, I jumped to my feet and headed to the counter. Before they could ask for a volunteer to give up their seat I was at the counter volunteering. A 3 hour wait for a later flight and a $600 voucher on a futher flight. I use to bitch about arriving at Sacramento airport 2 hours early for the short flight to SFO on my LOS trips. Afterall the others on that same flight who didn't have an international connection were only required to get there 1 hour early. Was told that they needed the extra time to do background check for the international flight but knew this was BS because in the past they would ask me if I would be interested in leaving on a flight that was leaving in 20 minutes if they had open seats. I don't bitch anymore because about a year ago SFO had bad weather and flights arriving where pushed back a few hours. They put those of us that had international connections on a mini van and drove us the 90 miles to the airport. This was a weekday during early morning commute and I just barely made the flight, if I had arrived only one hour early I wouldn't have made my flight.

On 2nd Rd almost opposite the new mall being built.

I cant believe that you would cut it that close, havent you heard of Murphys Law? What if you would have had some car problems? Anyway Im sure you were doing something more valuable with this time like posting words of wisdom on this board. I hope it wasnt in regards to anything financial.

Also factor in the hidden savings such as their frequent flyer program. I didn't 5 years ago and choose Eva because it was $150 cheaper than United. That mistake cost me $800 latter once I understood the FF program.

I haven't tried the place, but friends of mine that are heavy eaters like the seafoof buffet at the Montien hotel. Its only one night on the week.

A new place opened recently, I think it's called the Orm Hotel opposite where the Honey A go-go (now closed) is located. Its a hotel and I believe I saw a lift. Don't know any prices but I would think you could get a deal since they don't have a following.

If one has some extra baht the new project called Waterfront looks promising. Its located down by the pier but not cheap.

The construction has topped out, they are now busy with the interior and exterior walls. An opening in December seems very optimistic unless your talking Dec 09.

New Hotel between Soi Metro and Soi Honey
Emil replied to short's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I walked by this location last month. Don't expect many rooms. I can't remember if this is a double wide shop house or single. 3 rooms if single and 6 if double. Their was a larger stand alone hotel being constructed a few meters down the soi, don't know if its finished yet as I haven't been down that way recently. -
Agree 100%, so what if the bars and go-gos are moved to the other side of 2nd Rd. It isn't like one would have to travel a great distance. Besides if the monger hotels are also located in that area what's the difference. I can't ever recall where I went to one of the go-gos on the beach side of Walking st and asked for a seat that had a view of the gulf.

Secrets Hotel on Soi16 and Hotel Ibis Pattaya
Emil replied to geronimo2713's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
It's located on what was once called Soi 0 near 2nd Rd. Directly to the west near Beach Rd a new high storey hotel is still under construction, been told its a Holiday property. -
Used Mr T this past Friday. Arrived BKK 45 minutes early. Short wait through immigration and then picked up my bags. This was my first time that my bags were waiting for me on the carousel as the 777 out of Narita was only 1/2 full. Was afraid that my driver might not have arrived yet but after walking out of customs saw the driver with my name and off we went to the parking lot. One hour and 15 minutes later I was at my room in Pattaya. This is the 2nd time that Mr T has picked me up at BKK and both times my ride was in a mini van at the cost of a car pickup.

If you want to dance with your TG then try the Bamboo bar up near the enterance to Walking St, 2 bands nightly. It can get crowed in there late at night and doesn't have A/C. Also the Moon River Pub up on North Pattaya Rd. A/C in this place so it doesn't feel like a sauna if you dance and not crowded. Filipino band with 2 female singers. Zab at the enterance to Walking St use to have a band that I enjoyed, it included a brass section and a cute TG that played the electric fiddle and the lead singer was Jowell. I don't know where they are playing now.

Pattaya Beer Garden - lookin' or chillin'

Jerry your a little confussed, in your example you got all the gals sitting on the left and none on the right. -
Correct, while one can transfer 60K a year one can only receive 15K a year. My example was to show how costly it is to go this route. The only way that I would do this trading is award ticket for award ticket unless they have jacked up the fees on issuing an award ticket in another person name. So if anyone wants to use 60K United miles and get a ticket issued to me, I'll use 70K American miles and get a ticket issued to them.
-
The amount traded is strictly between the 2 parties and what they agree upon. So if someone like me had 14K miles of American and let say Hub had 12K miles of United we could do the trade. One of us would have to trust the other and do the transfer first which is done on line. Technically I don't see what would prevent someone from selling them. If I were to transfer 15K United miles to another person it would cost me $260 so I would want at least that amount or it would be a present. These transfers are really not that good of a deal unless your about to lose some miles because of inactivity. Right now I can pay United about the same $260 dollars and get double miles on my next flight which is 16K miles and I would still retain my American miles. Also lets assume that I could get 4 individuals to transfer 15K United miles each to me and I reimbursed them their cost of $260. 60K miles is a free trip to LOS so my cost would be $1040 plus another $75 for taxes and booking fees for a total of $1115. This is less than the $1450 which I just paid for my next trip to LOS, however I will earn 32K miles on my paid flight so in reality my cost of $1450 is for 1 1/2 trip to LOS. The best way to do a trade would be for the individauls to get awards tickets issued it the other person names and then just trade the tickets. The only way I see that someone can make some bucks on their miles is if they have a friend or family member who hardly ever flys. Then get an award ticket issued in their name (I don't think the airlines charge for the miles redeemed, just taxes) and then that friend or family member gives the person some money for the ticket.
