  1. During our walks this week we went by a very nice place up in Nakula called the Long Beach Hotel/Resort or something close. Saw a sign advertising the "Art Cafe" nearby to give you an idae of its location as you have access to the beach behind the hotel. Looked very new and nice, haven't a clue about its price.
  2. Hub, That was 45K miles and if they run it again I'll take 2. Cathay sent me a survey last month and on Other Comments I told them that they needed to run that special again.
  3. Its between 2nd Rd and Soi Buakaow. Off of 2nd Rd its the Soi between Pattayaland 1 and 2. When they complete the new shopping complex it will be much easier and closer to 2nd Rd as you should be able to cut through the complex.
  4. My guess is since the builder can only sell 49% of the rooms to foreigneers the others are used like a hotel.
  5. Oversight, I'm in Pattaya now and skim through the posts quickly. I believe my personal success with the rentals was the fact that I didn't try to get top dollar so that I had potential renter coming to me. Only advertised once in the paper, after that friends of the renter who was moving out contacted me.
  6. Its just a few steps from the Opey de Place and opened about3 years back. Haven't stayed there but did take a look at there rooms and were on the same scale as the Eastiny's and Flippers.
  7. Alan, That's true. The only reason I knew that he hadn't received my 1st PM is when I received a PM from him asking a question that I had provided to him in my PM. His folders were not filled and he was receiving PMs from other boardmembers.
  8. Earlier this month I sent 2 PM's to Soi 7 which he didn't receive. They were on 2 different days and on those same days I received and sent other PM's to other boardmembers. Is there a glich in the system? Have any other members had this problem?
  9. Here you go again making generalized statements. I've had 2 rental, the first one I've rented since 1974 and its only been vacant 1 month. The other I began renting in 1993 and sold it last year and it was never vacant. Didn't have a property manager and both exceeded your 5 mile radius.
  10. That's odd, the first ones ordered awhile back aren't scheduled off the production line until 2008.
  11. short, It may be because they're wearing platforms or high heels. I like to walk and when I've stayed with a TG for more than 1 day I'll buy them some sandals or tennis shoes so that we can do some walking along the beach.

  13. I forgot about that Mike's hotel, he's talking about the Mike's up near Soi 12.
  14. I realize that the 747 could fly nowhere near the record distance. The only reason I mentioned that article is because it had the distance between Sydney and London listed at 10,587 miles. Boeing lists the range of the -200ER at 9,420 nautical miles or 10,848 miles, slighly more than the distance between Sydney and London. Maybe they need to exceed the distance by a greater amount in case things go bad.
  15. I know they have a pool on the roof open to the public, never heard about a hotel. In fact don't recall seeing any windows on the side of the building. The Mike's group does have two hotels up on Soi 4, Mike's Beach and Mike's Orchid.
  16. On my first trip flying from Hong Kong to SFO on Cathay Pacific as I was channel surfing on the individual programs in economy, I came across the program that show all the flight info. I was amazed when it showed the speed at close to 730 mph which is close to mach 1 as I thought that comercial planes flew around the 500 mark. Then the next screen showed that we had a tail wind over 200 mph. Later when I check the flight itinerary the listed time from SFO to Hong Kong was 15 hours and the return was only 12 hours. Regarding your earlier comment about London to Sydney, my paper listed the previous record as 10,587 miles, set in 1989 on a Boeing 747-400 flying from London to Sydney. Boeing lists the range of the 777-200LR as 9420 nautical miles. If your conversion factor is correct that would equate to 10,848 miles.
  17. Larry, At the request of most of the patrons at the White Knight they're probably putting laxatives in the food. This ensures that their systems are cleaned out before their fun begins that night. Bacon and OnMyWay took my terack there for dinner last week, I hope she didn't get the shits.
  18. Another great place to stay is in the Soi 7/8 area. Plenty of beer bars. BG's, and restaurants. The Eastiny Inn, Eastiny Place, Sunshine, Flipper House, and Flipper Lodge should cost you around 800 baht a night. Pig and Whistle and the Bella Vista ar 2 other hotels in the area but don't have a pool and will be cheaper.
  19. No apologies needed as I was just trying to point out that when these babies are fully loaded and flying into the jet stream their distance is considerly less than this record flight.

    crock pots

The type of rice cooker I have wouldn't work because it shuts off automatically as soon as all the water is absorbed into the rice or evaporates. If you have a small one you could always bring it over and buy a step down transformer if its 110. I'll be back over next week and will try to remember to look in the store to see if they have them if no one else can confirm.
  21. Its no wonder some of the drivers have bad attitudes towards tourists if they're getting stiffed on the fares. There are various baht bus routes throughtout Pattaya as all the drivers don't go down Beach Rd, make a left at Walking St, another left at 2nd Rd and then up to the roundabout. Its up to the passanger to determine if he's on the right bus and if they're too lazy to ask its their problem. If I visited your country and got on a bus, rode it for awhile and then saw that it was going a different direction than I wanted to go, would I be able to ride for free?
  22. My paper had the flight at 13,422 miles or 11,664 nautical miles. Boeing lists its range as 9420 nautical miles as it will be fully loaded with passengers, luggage and food and drink. The record was set flying eastward and taking advantage of the jet stream, going from London to Hong Kong they would have ended up in the Pacific Ocean.
  23. Maybe Mike prefers the area around the White Knight to that of the Tequila Reef.
  24. Tom, Heard last month that UA is planning to exit Chapter 11 early next year. Adding more flights and bringing some planes back that had been stored in the desert.
  25. It could be awhile. The first delivery is scheduled for 2008 and I don't know if United has placed any orders and if they have where Chicago fits into the plan. It only seat about 265 so you won't need to many travelers to fill the planes for a daily schedule out of Chicago.
