Latest Cell phone registration Requirements
Emil replied to av8r's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Let me expand on Soi 7's reply. Having recently acquired a cell phone from a generous boardmember I'm learning a few things about these phone systems. When you purchase one of those scratch off cards for lets say 300 baht, you get 300 baht of talking time and usually 30 days in which to use it. If you use 200 baht of time and then go home when you return your 30 days have expired but you will still have 100 baht of phone time. Can't use phone but when you purchase another 300 baht card you will have 30 days but now a total of 400 baht of time. Also if you have a 1 2 Call system, they have different plans you can use. They'll put you on the most expensive one unless you tell them different. -
I've stayed at the Holiday Mansion (check out hotel reviews starting with "T"). Top rooms cost only 12,000 baht for a month. Place is about 3 years old and is located near 3rd Rd a little over 100 meters south of Centeral Rd. There was a new hotel close to opening last month just a short walk north of Carrefour. Carrefour is between Foodland and 3rd Rd. Send Soi 7 a PM and ask him if its opened and any details. If your not in a hurry I'll be back over in a little over 2 weeks and I'll check it out.

Shouldn't cost anything as they are the same. If you mean from BKK to Pattaya I use a service that cost 1200 baht (khrongfa-look under the cost sharing section under reliable car and driver). They also will pick you up in a mini van for more baht. If you like the Areca Lodge area check out the LK Metropole just a few meters away. Less than a year old and you can find a link to it if you look under "Apartments" on page 2 of Hotel and Accomodation Questions on one of my posts.

Huh Foodland is on Centeral Pattaya Rd between 3rd Rd and Sukhumvit Rd so if you don't want to be on the beach side you would be on the side toward Sukhunvit Rd. Thus you can't be between 2nd Rd and 3rd Rd.

Thanksgiving Bookings-Nov24th thru wknd
Emil replied to av8r's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Steve, Loy Kratong bounces around like Easter. Last year it was a day or two after Thanksgiving. In 2001 I was in Pattaya when it was on 31 October. -
On the recommendation of Soi 7, I purchased a Cyberhome DVD player last year from Best Buy for about $38. It was PAL/NTSC TV systems supported but I had to do something using the remote to make it work in LOS. It was very simple as Soi 7 told me what to do over the phone and took less than a minute.

Thanksgiving Bookings-Nov24th thru wknd
Emil replied to av8r's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I was there last year at that time and I didn't have any trouble getting a room, in fact I changed twice for something better each time. You shouldn't have a problem unless your set on staying at a particular area and are not flexible. Also there have been at least another 2,000 hotel rooms open or will soon open since last Thanksgiving. -
What BG talk, Jimmy is talking about his last date back home.
-
The only shame would be if your bringing back to your room a ladyboy and you weren't aware. I don't think that has ever happened to anyone from this board.
-
Sounds like someone has upset Mr Stearn's with their comments.

I can't think of any hotel that I've stayed in or looked at that fits your need as most of the hotels are laid out so that reception act as a level of security. If you check out some condos or apartments then you should find what you need. I checked out the Sunshine Vista with a fellow boardmember and you had to walk past reception, I don't know if they had a back enterance.

reg, The moderator doesn't want any bar or bargirl discussions on the open forum. Why don't you join the members forum (no cost) and you can say pretty much anything. Some bars are scheduled for destruction in the soi 8 area to make way for a hotel expansion.

2200 baht for a ride from the airport to Pattaya. Soi7 will be accusing BigD of over paying for services and driving up prices.

i am staying at the skytop for xmas
Emil replied to sinkorswim's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I hadn't realized that the scientific world had been successful in cloning a human. The Skytop looks decent for the price. I wouldn't stay there because the toilet area appears way too small and I also like a balcony for fresh air, light and to dry cloths and towels. If you look around you can find more room for the baht especially if you staying for 3 weeks or more. Take a look at OnMYWay post. He's staying for 8K a month and the Metro nearby is 9K a month with free use of pool tables and free use of computer. I believe these places have a daily rate of 400 baht so still less than Skytop. Myself, I stay at a place larger and newer that cost 7,500 a month which equates to 250 a day. Plus utilities which averages about another 30 baht a day. They only clean the place once every 2 weeks, however TGF keeps the place spotless. -
On August 2nd I made a reservation with United Airlines over the phone using miles. When I checked my email confirmation later I noticed that I was overcharged by $70. I called them back and it was corrected and I thought everything was cool. Today I was putting the arrival and departure times in my pocket calander when I noticed that the return date from BKK was listed as 22 Sep instead of 18 Oct. I immediately gave them a call and they said they could still get me on the 18 Oct flight out of BKK but once I arrived at SFO I would have to wait an additonal 3 hours for my connection because the earlier one was booked. I wasn't too excited about having to wait 5 hours so he asked if I was flexible on the return date and I said no problem as long as it wasn't over 45 days. He found me one on the next day so it turns out I get one more day in LOS. Lesson learned, always check the dates and times closely.

Is she one of those over 40 TGs that a certain board member from here pulls for 200 baht L/T?

If you're OK with the security box at reception then try the Eastinny Place and Eastinny Inn on Soi 8, the Sunshine on Soi 8 and the Bella Vista next to the Pig and Whistle. From what I read about those places that got knocked off, they were small places that only had one person on the night shift. Most of the larger places have at least 3 people on the night shift so I've never worried about leaving my stuff at reception. As carcareers pointed many of the in room safes are not bolted down. If you feel you need one of these you can always buy one for about 1500 for the small ones.

Under 700 baht/night hotels
Emil replied to terrybollea's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The guy asks for some hotels under 700 baht. You tell him your pro Naklua without any recommendations only that they are swanky and expensive. The Soi Day/Night area has alot gay activity there, is that the change your referring to? -
Under 700 baht/night hotels
Emil replied to terrybollea's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
How long are you staying? Some hotels have a daily, weekly and monthly rate. Others only publish a daily rate and if you don't ask them about what they will charge you for "X" length of stay they are more than happy to collect the daily rate. When your asking about a longer stay rate you need to be talking to the manager. For an early September arrival I wouldn't worry about using an online booking service as there will be plenty of vacancies in town. -
J P Court is located on the soi that is the extension of Soi Diana and runs between Soi Buakaow and 3rd Rd. It's on the other side of the Opey de Place hotel.
-
After looking at the link that Tom provided this place is called the Diana Estates set back off of Soi Buakaow. It just north of Soi Honey and isn't that close to Xycte. PM Sibinjack as he's taken a look at this place.
-
??? You said its located on Pattaya Klang and Soi Buakao. Pattaya Klang is also known as Centeral Pattaya Rd. Xycte Disco is located on 3rd Rd about half way between Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Tai which is nowhere near Pattaya Klang and Soi Buakao. If your staying for 3 weeks you would be better off to get the LK Metropole monthly rate of 48K and walk away after 3 weeks than to pay their daily rate. That would work out to about 2300 baht a night. One thing you need to do when your comparing monthly rates is to find out if the monthly rate include water, electric and daily house cleaning, otherwise your comparing apples with oranges.

You have your royalty mixed up as it the Queen's son the Prince that is located on Soi 8. I don't know about a Queens hotel, maybe located in Boystown or the Sunee Plaza there is a Queen Pattaya Hotel located on Pattaya Klang across from Tops and there are reviews of this hotel in the review section.
-
Someone did a report on the place with pictures a few months back. I've walked by the place and it looks great, a 100% improvement from when it was the rundown Weekender. They were opening the place in stages, don't know if its completely finished now.

The Sunshine is not quite directly across the Soi form the Welcome Inn. Soi 7 and I talked to the TG who is either the manager or owner daughter of the BJ. Great English skills, I believe she said she went to school in Houston.
