  1. There are other ways of poaching, not to mention any names, but I went into a go-go awhile back with another FLB boardmember and our 2 dates who were employed at other bars and the mamasam who came over to sit at our table very quickly was trying to recruit them. I thought it was very smart on her part and cracked up when she reached over and coped a feel to see if the one BG's hooters were for real.
  2. No, as I now have an appartment with a live in TGF further away from the action but an ideal location for me now as its just a short distance to Carrefour. Soi 7 and I did check out the rooms for OnMyWay, but unfortunately by the time he arrived a few days later they didn't have any vacancies. We did find him another place just a few meters away at basically the same price. This area is relatively new and many of these small guest houses have just recently opened with a few more to be opened shortely. In addition we noticed a go-go that is in the process of opening in this area just a few doors from Lolitias. If I was still butterflying I wouldn't hesitate to get a room in this area, they have new rooms that range from the budget minded to a few suites that are about 170 sq meters.
  3. No, I was just BSing with the Thai lady who is married to a Brit who owns the place. Mark and Soi 7 had already got her to come down from the 9K a month to 8K a month because he was staying for 3 months when I brought up the 1 free BF a month for this little cutie who we had been flirting with and she agreed.
  4. I've never stayed at the RG, but recall seeing a 30K monthly rate here on the board. The last 2 places that I've stayed offered monthly rates that were equal to 10 days stay. However these monthly rates required you to pay water and electric plus you only received free daily housekeeping once a week. Just went with OnMYWay yesterday to a place that gave him a monthly rate of 8K per month which included daily cleaning, water and electric. He does have to pay electric on A/C as it is metered seperate. I also negoiated one free barfine a month from the owner on one of her TG's.
  5. Its in the same area but on the small soi that runs into soi Buakaow. Its called the Metro Apartments. Email: metrorooms@yahoo.com There are over a dozen small new place in that area and with the opening on other hotels in Pattaya on a monthly basis the competition for customers is great right now. The other places in that area all offer competitive rates so if that one is full check on the others. The center piece of that area, The LK Metropole has the finest looking rooms that I've ever stayed in, looked at or seen photos posted on this board.
  6. Sorry Tom I only have info on whats reported to Boeing shareholders. If the airbuses are those new monsters, then the delay could be that the old airport can't accomodate them.
  7. Just looked at a new place near Lolitia's. 9K per month which includes water/electric and daily cleaning and a DVD player in room. Also free useage of internet in the lobby along with free pool. No lift or pool.
  8. Soi 7 and I checked out the place yesterday and they were having their grand opening today. Like others have said it located on a soi between 2nd RD and Soi Buakaow. It is almost directely behind where the Vientienne Restaurant (sic) was located. Once they complete that project and if they have access to that soi the distance to 2nd Rd would be cut at least in half.
  9. After all these years its about time you wise up, it took a building site to finally get your arse off of Soi 13.
  10. Its guys like Tony who will spoil Pattaya for the rest of us. First they overpay the female gender and now they insist on over paying for accommodations.
  11. If a newbie booked a hotel without ckecking a map to see it',s location or ask further questions about transportation, then they are qoing to need you around 24/7 on their holiday to keep them out of trouble. The attractive rates for these places usually only apply for a monthly rate, their daily rates are not that hot. The last two place that I stayed in Pattaya were 12,000 monthly (1200 daily) and 7,500 monthly (700 daily). I would recommend both these places if you were staying for close to a month but not if your holiday was 2 weeks. Regarding transportation, I'm staying east of 3rd Rd yet just a short walk to the baht bus route on Pattaya Klang. Actually my walking distance from my room to where I get on and off the baht bus is less than when I stayed at a hotel up on Soi 4. I do spend an additional 5 miniutes getting to Walking St, but I have more time than money on my trips.
  12. Mike, The places that I've stayed in Pattaya on the monthly rate gave me 1 free cleaning a week. Each additional cleaning they charged 100 baht. A good deal if you have a steady TG as you don't need to change the bedding every day and she can keep the place clean. Even if your a big butterfly, the additional 600 baht a week is still a good deal.

    Nightmarch

These Nightmarch articles used to have at the end of them a comment that they were from Nightmarch author of Pattaya: Patpong on Steriods whose is Duncan Stearn. From Hilly's post I thought that since he lived near Pete that maybe he knew something that we didn't in that Pete was now writing these articles since he's now out of the bar business and that the Nightmarch reference was no longer at the bottom of the article.
  14. Mark, Cut back on the beer consumption in AC. If the owners agree, you can buy a safe between 1500 and 2500 and have them install it.

    Nightmarch

Hilly, Now I'm confussed as I thought Pete didn't write these articles but copied them from Nightmarch. Anyway I hadn't realized that closing time had been restored to 2 AM.
  16. From Boeing 2004 annual report. In 2004 they launched service aboard Lufthansa, ANA, JAL and SAS. Also signed definitive service agreements with Singapore, China Airlines and KAL. Reached preliminary agreements with Asiana Airlines and 3 undisclosed customers.
  17. Plenty of open area behind the Areca, fortunately nothing happening as of now.
  18. I don't think there is a train, metered taxi fare should be about 100 baht + another 50 baht if you use a taxi based at the airport. Get the air con/express bus to Pattaya, cost is about 100 baht and should take about 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic. They leave every 1/2 hour exceptlate at night/morning.
  19. Beside those listed below, the baht buses run along Centeral Pattaya Rd and Soi Buakaow. The cost of food is very cheap if you eat Thai food. You should have no trouble finding a room in Sep. In the past I would show up but I was familiar with the hotels and knew of nearby ones that would be my 2nd and 3rd choice if my first was full.
  20. Besides being at least 10 degrees F warmer, the humidity will be much greater so you'll be taking more showers and you'll need more changes of clothes.
  21. Don't feel slighted, I've tried on 15 trips to find someone to share a ride, no success to date.

Have the closing times been restored to 2 AM or did he mean between 12 AM and 1 AM?
  23. If your looking to book a flight on Nok for a trip within LOS once you get there just go to one of the small travel agencies. This past March a friend of mine who was staying in Pattaya rang me in the morning and said he wanted to make a side trip to Chiang Mai and wanted to leave that evening. Said he went to the travel agency at the Eastiny Place and received a quote for 4000 baht R/T onThai. I told him ok but I wanted to come over and check flights out myself. Went to the JK travel agency just down from the Eastiny and asked them what they could do for a flight to Chaing Mai. She said for 2800 we could be leaving that afternoon on Nok Air. I don't know if that was a good price but it was better than what my friend was willing to pay and I didn't have too much time to look any further.
  24. Jack, My reply was in response to your comment that one usually has to spend $50 to get a shower/tub combination. I wanted to let you and others know that you can find them for as low as $20 and they are not dumps. If you would have mentioned that you were staying there because of friends and internet in your room I wouldn't have posted.
  25. Larry, If I can't think of anything better to do I'll be looking for you in terminal 2 around midnight. I think you got my seat on UA so I had to take this flight with a second rate airline. Mark, I haven't booked anything yet but I'll be looking for a flight shortly after the start of the NFL season. I want to be home for our fantasy draft just prior to the start of the season which begins on Sep 8th. Last year I let my partner draft our team while I was searching for Bin Laden in LOS and I wasn't too happy with our team. Also the students will be back in school at this time and it should be easier to get a flight.
