Anyone Ever Hear of Hai So Hotel?

Now that I know the actual name I checked out some reviews and they are mostly bad so I will stay away from the Hiso! -
Anyone Ever Hear of Hai So Hotel?
LasRobos replied to LasRobos's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi Firth and Paul, Thanks for the info. I'm quite sure that is the one she was referring to. -
I am trying to figure out the "real" name of a hotel my girlfriend calls the Hai So Hotel? She does not know how to spell it in English. I believe it is not too far from Walking Street and possibly in the general vicinity of the Vault hotel. If anyone has the correct name of this hotel it would be much appreciated. Also if anyone has any experience staying here I would love to hear about it. Thanks

And to add some further shock and awe to your psyche Atlas - even I was disappointed. I wanted to see it approved! Although I haven't followed it real closely, I think it was not just restricted to assault guns, but to the purchase of any gun.

KINDLY HELP ME WITH A BUDGET HOTEL
LasRobos replied to Scorpio26's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I'll throw my two bits in. I stay in Sutus Court on every visit to Pattaya - I believe zone 1, whatever is the most expensive. I think last August they charged 880 a night. Sutus is in a great location, large clean rooms, large showers with consistent hot water (might stay off the top floor), good free Wifi and decent pools. I can't comment on the other two hotels as I a have never used them. Best of luck! -
Hi Atlas, Thanks much for your summary of life in Pattaya. You seem to be quite happy there and I find your story very interesting and informative. I spend 2 months in Thailand every year with an occasional, additional 2 or 3 week trip in January. Although I am not unhappy in Farangland, I always hate leaving LOS and can’t stop thinking about my return. Although I probably have enough invested to retire now, I would not be supremely confident! And although I could always go back and get a job again, it would be hard to get a plum job like I have now if I was out of the industry for

American (U.S.) Court Raised Bar on Searches at Border
LasRobos replied to LasRobos's topic in Airline Discussion
I didn't think to include my personal opinion in the post, but yes, I agree it moves things in the right direction if not far enough. It really does not effect me significantly as I don't have any thing to hide. However I would prefer not to have my time wasted by a search through such items. -
American (U.S.) Court Raised Bar on Searches at Border
LasRobos posted a topic in Airline Discussion
From today's Wall Street Journal: "A federal appeals court set a higher bar for U.S. border officials who want to search the laptops or iPads of people crossing into the country." The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ". . . ruled that border authorities must show a 'reasonable suspicion' of wrongdoing before digging into electronic devices." Unfortunately for the defendant in the case the court decided the border officials had met the requirement of reasonable suspicion. They found hundreds of pictures of child pornography upon his return from Mexico. Among othe -
You two are very good at changing what was said. The original post that set off this argument used the term "America". He did not use the term South America or North America. Maybe it was just a brain fart and he meant to say "the Americas" or "North America" or "South America" but given he repeated "America" twice in his original post it does not appear to be the case. Again I have never heard anyone (The Americas, Africa, Europe, or Asia) mean anything besides the USA when using the singular form of "America". It appears that others on this thread agree. I find it interestin

I agree but the original poster who was called on his terminology referred only to "America" not "Part of the Americas" as you can see: Again the original poster used the singular version of America not the plural version. I have never heard anyone before this thread use the singular version of America to refer to anything besides the U.S.A. I have also spent a significant amount of time in South America (Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile) and yes Americas is sometimes used to refer to South American countries in general. But never heard America used to refer to a South American c

Never heard anyone call Brazil or Argentina "America", have you. I am pretty sure the U.S. is not on the same continent as Brazil and Argentina as well, but then maybe I need to go back to school.

You have me worried now! Sutus Court is my favorite place to stay in Pattaya due to location and price/quality combination. A lot of Thai girls don't like to stay in a hotel where deaths have occurred!

I can't believe this blatant discrimination against animals. This is right up there with racist and anti-feminist attitudes! I thought you were a better man than this Atlas!

I have only stayed at the most expensive zone as it is easiest to get to and I believe it is the newest. My understanding is the cheaper the zone, the older the room. For me, the less than 900 baht I paid a night easily fits in my spending plans so I did not even consider the other zones.

Strongly agree with Tom. I eat quite often at Sizzlers in both Pattaya and Bangkok. Very large and extremely fresh salad bars. Entrees are ok, the salad bar is excellent.

Yes I am aware of that. And some places will only charge if you bring more than one girl back. They certainly did not charge for one girl and I don't think they charge for more than one, but i cannot be sure as I never brought more than one.
-
I never tried to bring more than one girl and there were certainly no fees for one girl. I did go up to the room a couple of times with a friend and his girl friend just to show the room. So there were four of us going up at a time and no one tried to stop us.

I have regularly stayed here for the last couple of years and really like it. Now it is not a luxury hotel, but good value for the price. I stay in the more expensive wing (right by the front desk) which I believe is Sutus 1. Paid 850 baht a night last June, July and August. I never asked, but never had problem bringing anyone to my room. Big clean rooms, good A/C, big bathrooms, small balcony, a couple of pools, good free Wifi, and great location. No in-room safes, but small lockboxes behind the front desk. I would just stay below the 7th floor as the water pressure, although not ba

Japan Airlines B787 fire at Logan Airport 7th Jan
LasRobos replied to Brown1950's topic in Airline Discussion
This is actually evidence that was used to prove the point that most new planes have significant problems when they are first introduced. The letter is dated less than a year after the 777 was brought into service. Yet despite the problems United had with the 777 when it was new, it is now considered one of the most reliable jets out there. This is based on experts interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. That may not be good enough for you, but that is your problem, not mine. -
Japan Airlines B787 fire at Logan Airport 7th Jan
LasRobos replied to Brown1950's topic in Airline Discussion
Less than a year after the first appearance of the 777, United Airlines wrote a letter describing the 777's reliability as "a major disappointment". But as you say, today the 777 is considered one of the most reliable jets flying. And don't forget the A380 exploding engine, I believe on a Singapore Airlines 380. How soon we forget. Most new jets have problems when they are first introduced. There is more reason for the 787 to have teething problems than typical given the leap in technology including the replacement of the heavy pneumatic control systems with electrical systems -
US Customs destroying person property without reasonable suspicion
LasRobos replied to short's topic in Airline Discussion
This was the first thought that came to my mind as well. A couple of years ago I spoke with an off-duty customs officer. He said the specific policy handed down to him was to allow knockoffs as long as there were no more than one of any item, i.e., one purse, one coat, one watch, etc. I did not think to ask him what they do if multiple items were detected. -

Yes, I just got pretty much the same thing as Maik! -
I live near Las Vegas. Heat is by natural gas which is incredibly cheap. Electric bill is about $150 in the winter and up to $400 a month in the summer due to air conditioning.
-
Wow! Your rate for electricity is either very high or you are using a monstor amount of electricity. I just paid about $150 for the last month and my bill is a bit high for my area probably because I need to run a pool pump every day. Do you have electric heat? By the way I am in the states as well.

Last August I had an early morning flight out and left Pattaya at 4:00 in the morning. I was at the airport at 5:10.
