Close! In the USA, Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November. This is sometimes the last Thursday of November, but not always!

Paper that gives one ownership in a real company with real assets that is producing real products and generating a real cash flow year after year! What is gold producing and generating for you?

Another alternative is no fee ATM cards. They have been reported elsewhere on PT. For example, I have a Schwab brokerage account and also a checking account with their bank. I have an ATM card with this checking account which not only charges no fees but reimburses all fees paid to other banks when using the ATM card. I have been using it for several years now with no problems. It usually takes a day or two for the fees paid to other banks to be credited back to my account but it has always worked fine. The exchange rates are excellent as well. I read the Wall Street Journal regularly and the rates have almost exactly matched the rates quoted in the WSJ for foreign exchange trading in New York.

If You Wonder Why Russians Like Pattaya ... (More vids)

Like most Americans I never pay much attention to America's Cup and was only mildly interested this time around given the incredible comeback. However I am with MM and don't feel like its much of a victory for the U.S. and I'll probably go back to ignoring this in the future like most in this country.

There was only one American on the crew. The captain was Aussie and I believe the boat was built in New Zealand! But the money (Oracle Corp) was American!

Just realized the mistake made in the final sentence of my above post. I can't edit the post at this point. Here is how it should read: It is far more complex than taking care of cavities, performing a root canal and installing a crown and most dentists really do not have the proper training and experience to meet my demands for a safe and proper crown implant installment.

A few years ago I had a 20+ year old bridge fail. For reasons not relevant to the discussion here, I could not install a new bridge and thus needed two new implants. Due to the lack of teeth in this spot for 20+ years I also needed bone augmentation surgery prior to implant surgery. So my overall implant procedure was a bit complicated and I did a lot of research before proceeding. I found that drilling a hole for an implant is far more complex than drilling for cavities. They will be drilling near nerves and if they hit a nerve you may have problems in your jaw or mouth for the rest of your life. The hole and implant need to be located just right or you will have an artificial tooth that does not match with the rest of your mouth and you will have discomfort for the rest of the life of the implant. And it is not that unusual for the initial procedure to be done poorly, the implants are not solidly anchored and they have to be done over. My regular dentist was smart enough to know he did not have the expertise to do my implants and he referred me to a so-called expert. This expert was going to install 2 implants without bone augmentation surgery and with just some simple x-rays to locate the implants. I knew this was wrong and fired this expert as well as my dentist who referrred me to this joker. Fortunately I had a good friend who is an excellent dentist and despite the distance I went to him with my problem. He referred me to a periodontist who had developed an especially strong expertise in implants. He put me through the necessary bone augmentation surgery, went through a very thorough process to locate the holes for the implants including making a precise template to guide the drilling. My conclusions from my research and experience is that having a regular dentist do your implants is much like DIY electrical work or plumbing work on your home. It often times works out fine, but do you really want to take that chance with your teeth? Be very careful who you use for implants. It is far more complex than taking care of cavities, performing a root canal and installing a crown and most dentists really do not have the proper training and experience to meet my demands for a safe and proper crown installment.

It really depends upon the time of year. I flew Korean Air from Las Vegas to Inchon then to Bangkok in early July on Business Class. It was pretty full to Inchon and fairly empty to Bangkok. On the way back in the middle of August I was the only one in 1st class from Bangkok to Inchon but then it was full from Inchon to Las Vegas. I was unable to book Business Class from Inchon to Las Vegas in the middle of August.

Yes Evil, that is exactly what I found. The prices in LOS are not competitive. -
Ease of Buying Good Contact Lens?
LasRobos replied to LasRobos's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Just thought I would update this topic I bit. Recently returned from a month and a half in Thailand. While in Bangkok I did check around a few optical shops and could not find the latest daily wear contact lens that have immensely increased the amount of oxygen that gets to the eyes. Additionally the contact lens I did price were more expensive that what I pay in the U.S. -
Best place to get American food in Bangkok

Same, same! -
I have had a couple of times in the last few days where I just get a message saying something to the effect that "you don't have permission for that" and I am not allowed to open anything. It shows up for everything I try to open including my own "Profile" or "Content"!

I had that done in a Bangkok clinic about 3 years ago. After swimming, water got in my ear and solidified the wax like concrete. Nothing I could find in the pharmacy would loosen it up. The ear doctor vacuumed it up and felt great afterwards!

I just tried Tan (actually she spells it Tann on her website) for a ride from the international airport to Pattaya and was quite disappointed for the following reasons: 1. I waited almost 30 minutes at our designated meeting place before the driver showed up. 2. Despite her website advertising: "English speaking safe, female driver", the driver was a male with rudimentary English speaking skills. 3. I Emailed the hotel name and address several days before arrival. The driver had a difficult time finding the hotel and probably wasted 10 minutes or more looking for such. 4. Tann's website advertises 1200 bath from international airport to Pattaya but driver tried to charge me 1500 baht. After a bit of an argument he accepted the 1200. To be fair the car looked to be fairly new and in excellent condition and the driver was not a crazy driver as I have found many times.

Ease of Buying Good Contact Lens?
LasRobos replied to LasRobos's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Thanks much for all the replies. I already have my prescription and do not want to go through anymore eye testing in LOS. I have always worn contacts that last for a month or two but am changing to daily wear. There has been a lot of evidence that contacts do infect one's eyes unless you are absolutely scrupulous in keeping them clean. There have also been problems with contact lens' cleaners and disinfectants not being properly manufactured and leading to problems. The prices mentioned in a couple of the above posts sound significantly cheaper than here in the States so I may just buy a 90-day supply and try to pick up a 360 day supply while in LOS. -
I just updated my contact lens prescription and was thinking about buying the lens in Thailand since I will be arriving in a couple of weeks. I have never bought contact lens in Thailand and know nothing about price, choice and need for prescription. If anyone has information about this it would be much appreciated.

I have always assumed overhead limits were about the obvious volume limitations but also weight limitations. Not total weight limitations for the whole plane but a weight limitation for each individual overhead bin. In fact on some airlines I have even seen specific weight limitation signs posted on each bin; not a weight limitation per bag but an overall weight limitation for the whole bin. Put enough weight in a bin and with all the airplane flight movement the door latches may give way (which I have seen) or the entire bin structure may fail especially in an emergency. I have flown out of LAX internationally on a number of airlines over the years including Asiana, Korean, United, Philippine Air, Nippon Air (actually transferred to in Tokyo), and China Air and have never had my carryons weighed. However in the distant past (I have not been there for more than 10 years) the Manila airport use to check everyone's carryon's for weight at least for international flights. It was not airline specific, it was done after checking in but before getting to immigration. I always take a small computer bag for under the seat in front of me and a backpack with wheels that I do wheel around the airport but put on my back when embarking on the airplane. The backpack easily fits in the overhead bins but certainly weighs quite a bit more than 15 pounds.

Anyone Ever Hear of Hai So Hotel?

I think it was a bit less than 2 years ago I stayed at RG and the baht bus was very easy to catch. Is that no longer the case? -

I suspect you are correct. Residence Garden may be my best bet. A bit more pricey than Sutus Court but from past experience I believe it has a decent pool and WiFi. I am just not sure of location but it sounds to be close to where I want to be. -

Regarding location I have a personal reason for wanting a reasonably priced, decent quality hotel with a reasonably good pool in that location. If you have any recommendations I am all ears. I usually stay in Sutus Court and really like the price/quality combination of that hotel but need this new location next time around. Also need decent WiFi.
