  1. Montgomerie has just won his match and thus has secured victory in the match Alan
  2. With the score standing at 13 1/2 points to 8 1/2, Europe are now guaranteed to retain the Ryder Cup. Montgomerie is 1 up with only the 18th to play and Europe are ahead in all of the remaining matches on the course. Well done for what looks like being a comprehensive victory. All we need now is for the same result in the RideHer Cup Alan
  3. Thanks, guys Think I may try getting the card couriered out to me though another option is to time visits home so that the card will be delivered to my brother's house shortly before I arrive in the UK. Alan
  4. A question for the ex-pats (or anyone else for that matter). When I retire to LOS next year, I'll be maintaining accounts and a credit card in the UK. Is it safe to use the normal mail service to send my cash card and credit card out to me in Thailand when they're due for renewal? Or should I get them couriered to me? Whilst I won't be making much use of them, the credit card in particular will come in handy when paying hotel bills etc on my annual pilgrimage out of Pattaya during Songkran. Alan
  5. Sounds like my type of book as well As far as the question about avoiding the water when your lying 8 in the bunker - I would have thought that the answer to that is obvious. You leave the ball in the sand! Alan
  6. I'll be in Pattaya for the festiaval this year as well. Alan
  7. Maybe you could borrow one of these "hammers" they throw in the Olympics and swing it at crotch level as the skateboarders zoom past you. They might just get the message to keep out of peoples' way in future. Perhaps the Council could be persuaded to provide somewhere where these kids could go and amuse themselves where they won't be annoying anyone. Alan
  8. landy, I seem to recall from a previous question along similar lines that only Pete can delete the first post on a particular topic. Alan
  9. Nor are there any unicorns in Dubai Alan
  10. I'll go along with Echster. It's probably something to do with their night vision goggles. Could do with a pair of these myself Alan
  11. Can't make it for this year but will be around next year. Somehow I think my participation would be an added handicap that the Europeans could do without - Now give me a decent handicap - say - 5 strokes per hole and then I might be able to make a useful contribution Alan
  12. Erm - I always thought that hockey was played outdoors on GRASS. ICE hockey is, however, played on ICE and is probably one sport other than boxing where you can virtually be guaranteed that there will ba a punch up between two of the players at some point in a match The BBC used to televise ice hockey games many years ago and my team were then (and still are) Fife Flyers. I can't be certain butu I think that most of their players now are Canadian with the odd American thrown in. Alan
  13. Thanks for the tips, guys. It looks as though I'd be best starting off with the Sugar Shack as I don't think I'm quite at the 24 handicap level. Not having played for about 25 years, I think that even a handicap of 36 might still be too low! Alan
  14. Think that the photos you are referring to may have been downloaded from a member's PC or another site. If that is the case, as far as I understand it, they will only be retained for a month or so. I doubt whether you will be abe to see any of mine that are more than 30 or so days old for this reason. The only photos that will be permanently displayed are those that have been saved to the Pattaya Pages photo forum. Hope this helps (and is correct ) Alan
  15. If you only plan on playing on the "Sports Days", do you need a discount card to get the reduced rate? Also is the cost of a cart, per cart or per person? Alan
  16. I'll be trying to open an account when I'm in town in November and one of my options was the Bangkok Bank at Pratumnak Road, which would be convenient as I could end up living at View Talay (or close by) from the middle of next year. If they won't let me open an account without a Non-Immigrant visa, guess I will jsut have to try one of the other banks such as the Siam Commercial Bank, which I believe from previous threads has a branch on Beach Road. Might help if I wore a shirt and tie when applying to open the account? Alan
  17. And also, presumably while they're open? Are you speaking from personal experience, Hannibal? Would they be happy to return the card to you or would they want some proof of who you are first, such as sight of your passport etc? Alan
  18. As well as deleting all temporary internet files on a regular basis, I also clean out at least once a week any cookies that may have been set. I keep those that I really want - such as the one set by this board. Alan
  19. Thanks, Emil ....... sounds like a fraction of the cost that would be paid in either the US or in rip-off Britain. Alan
  20. Thanks, Roland - that is pretty much what i thought. Alan
  21. Just had a quick look at the Pattaya International Hospital web-site but no obvious indication of the cost of root canal treatment. Anyone know what this is likely to cost and how the treatment takes? Also noticed that they have a "pre-marriage check-up" whatever that may be? and a section for would be ladyboys Alan
