  1. Steve, If the link is the full address of the website as in www. etc, you could also try copying and pasting the link. Otherwise, as Ting Tong says, a single click should be sufficient. Alan
  2. Dan, I'm not sure how a 747 can seat 550 people comfortably unless they do away with 1st and Business Class. I've been on a number of flights on a 747 which were pretty much full so I would think that there IS a market for the A380 though mainly between hubs such as London/New York, London/Australia via either Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok etc. On routes where there is less demand, I can also see a market for the smaller Boeing plane. After all, better to put out a smaller plane that is full rather than a 747 which is maybe only 3/4's full. The Boeing does have the advantage of being able to fly into smaller airports but there is as much chance of me being able to get a direct flight from Bangkok to Edinburgh or Glasgow as there is of me being selected for the next manned mission to the Moon. Alan
  3. I use the same method as Pete. I've just finished scanning some 2,000 + of my photos onto CD and this provides a handy reference to what is on a particular CD. Alan
  4. Hey, Nidnoyham, That makes 2 of us surrounded by history. Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace are both a short walk from where I stay. There can't be many main shopping streets anywhere in the world where you have a clear view of a castle. Robert Louis Stevenson lived not far from my home. The statue of Greyfriars Bobby is also within a short walking distance. And so on. Sorry to hear that you've had to cancel your trip to LOS. Hope your back's better soon. Alan
  5. For the best views, suites on the higher floors are best though as Skytrooper said it is a bit of a hike when the lifts are out of order ........... as they were for 2 or 3 days of my last stay! . I can't recall ever having had a suite with a larger fridge ........ certainly the suite I had last time only had a mini bar. By the way, for those of you who still use film cameras, keep your film cool by storing it in the minibar (or fridge). Just give it an hour or so to come back up to room temperature before using it. Also if you have print film that is about to go out of date keep it in the fridge. Alan
  6. heini, There was a discussion along similar lines last year. This may be helpful to you - http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...e%20school&st=0 Alan
  7. bintang, in addition to the above I'd recommend that you print a map of pattaya showing the location of your chosen hotel plus if possible copy down the address of the hotel in Thai. A good map is available here along with a number of other sites. http://www.bahtbus.com/ The 2nd time I stayed at the RG, the taxi driver was incapable of reading a very simple map! I hate to think where we would have ended up if i hadn't known where we were going. Last time, the driver drove straight past the RG at 6.15 on a Saturday night. (At least he was on the right road.) Doing a u-turn at that time of the evening was interesting! Alan
  8. I would think it highly unlikely that you would be able to do this. One reason is that the rates of exchange for travellers cheques and cash are different. There is also a different rate depending on whether you are buying or selling. Alan
  9. I've stayed at the RG on my last 3 trips. Away from the main action but close enough to get there easily at night, friendly staff, seperate bedroom, two pools though the one at the back does tend to be used a fair bit by Mermaid Dive for their training. Alan
  10. From what I can gather, it seems to me that the new airbus will be ideal for routes where there is high demand such as London to New York or London to Australia via either Singapore or Bangkok. As the planes carry more passengers, fewer daily flights would be required. On the other hand, the smaller Boeing would be ideal for routes such as Edinburgh or Glasgow to the USA. That could have a knock on effect in reducing the demand for flights from London though. Alan
  11. Skytrooper, You quote the 2nd Amendment to the American constitution - The Second Amendment expressly states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” and forbids any type of anti-gun legislation. Now, lets's take this to extreme circumstances. Let's just say that a terrorist gets his hands on a newly invented super gun that can destroy buildings (and their inhabitants) in seconds. I assume therefore that you would agree that this person has every right to possess what is effectively a weapon of mass destruction. Alan
  12. Eric, BA also have lie flat seats in Business Class at from £2,576 return - depending on the actual dates. Alan
  13. Ray, I did something similar but in the supermarket when getting some cash back. Fortunately, I remembered that I hadn't received the money just after I left so I was able to go back to the cashier and retrieve my hard earned cash. Alan
  14. Glad to hear that you got the problem sorted, BOS2. Regarding the exchange rate one possible explanation for the rates being the same could be due to 30th August being a UK bank holiday. Alan
  15. Skytrooper, I have ALREADY explained to you one of the reasons the UK has one of the most stringent anti-gun laws in the world. but it seems that I have to do so again!!! You are an intelligent guy, so please take the time to look at and digest this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/s...000/2543277.stm Once you have done so, please come back and tell sinbinjack, myself and doubtless many others here the answer to this question - What is more important? The life of a 5 or 6 year old child who has done no one any harm? or - Your alleged right to own as many guns as you deem fit. I'm sure that the parents of the children who were massacred or injured in Dunblane would be only too willing to give their point of view! Alan
  16. Hope the new airport is open by Songkran 2006 as I'll be wanting to escape the madness for a week or so What's the likely transport time from the new airport to Pattaya? Alan
  17. I've just checked my Nationwide Building Society statement and it would appear that the withdrawal goes through two days after it was actually made. The last withdrawal I made went through on 30th November but it was actually made on the 28th, the day I left. It would seem that the transaction through your account on 30th August was made 2 days earlier on the 28th and that the one through your account in October dated 31st August was the one you made before losing your card. The Bank of Scotland should be able to check on when you actually made the withdrawal but the branch staff don't have a fucking clue about anything nowadays apart from selling you insurance or a mortgage! And it's 10 times worse since the cunts at the Halifax took them over. Alan
  18. There must be 2 people talking here. The first person is male (khrup). The other is female (chan is the female for I, me etc). I go along with Ting Tong in that I think it means something along the lines of - I'm going to be good and go and get some sleep. I'm a bit tired. However, if anyone knows any better .......... The word for I (phom for males or chan for females) is often omitted in Thai. Alan
  19. As far as I'm aware, Songkran is officially from the 13th April to the 15th April but the madness tends to continue in Pattaya until about the 20th (?). The New Year itself is on the 15th April. http://bangkok.thailandtoday.com/guides/00...1_songkran.html Alan
  20. Try taking a look at some of these sites - you will generally get a better deal if you go for a longer term period. http://www.thaiproperty.com/ http://www.pattayavacation.com/ http://www.pattayarentaroom.com/rent-index.htm http://www.realestatethailand.com/ http://www.scrhomefinder.com/life_in_pattaya.htm http://www.thailand-property.com/ http://www.thaiproperty.com/renting.htm http://www.fairproperties.com/condos_for_rent.htm Some of the places above will only be interested in longer term rentals but the Yensabai Condos (pattayarentaroom above) have been recommended by other members in the past. Hope this is of some help. Alan
  21. David Gray of East Coast Real Estate has been recommended in the past. He has a shop on 2nd Road more or less opposite Royal Garden Plaza (I think). - http://www.thaiproperty.com/renting.htm Some other sites you may want to take a look at - http://www.fairproperties.com/condos_for_rent.htm http://www.scrhomefinder.com/life_in_pattaya.htm http://www.realestatethailand.com/ http://www.orchidproperty.com/ Hope some of these are of help Alan
  22. Of your choices, I'd go for December - not so hot and humid but the downside is that it will likely be busier
  23. I'm looking at relocating to the View Talay area in the middle of next year. I've nothing against gays - so long as they allow me to lead my life the way I want to lead it. Alan
  24. I use the Home Laundry which is more or less opposite the RG. Alan
  25. I'm looking at changing my travel insurance company as my current provider (Halifax) have put in one increase too many. For those of you in the UK, Marks & Spencer looks good at about £41 for an annual policy. Alan
