I thought I was going to have to scrap my plans for a return visit in January but it turns out I am going to have to go on disability from work for a few months so I am back on for a trip. Just booked a ticket last night for Jan 26 to Feb 13. I'll be doing a Cheap Charlie trip since my pay gets cut in half so I'm looking for a room around LK Metro. I have it narrowed down to a few and was wondering if it would be a mistake to wait till I get in town to find accommodations. I would really like to see them in person before deciding. Not sure how busy it will be then. I don't want to get there and find everything full and then have to pay considerably more for a hotel someplace else. Any Advice??

The real estate office on the first floor had units for rent (I can't remember their name). There was a thread on here about them. I don't think they took advance bookings. You just have to take your chances when you get there.

Can somebody help me. I have been searching and all I keep coming up with is house rentals for 6 months or longer. Is their anyplace that rents houses for 1 or 2 months?? Links Please!!

LOL I have been doing some preliminary investigation into some rental houses for next May. I found a place through ThaiVisa and e-mailed them for some rates. They shot me an e-mail back with a rate for a 3bdrm. house @ about 3,600.00 USD for a month rental. Granted this was a pretty decent house with a private pool but they have to have been smoking something to think those rates are justified. I also got a rate on a 2bdrm. out in Jomtiem that was a very basic place and they wanted 2,400.00 USD for a month. So somebody tell me have they completely lost their minds or are those the rates for a short term rental house???

LOL tempting but I'll probably have to wait for December. The miles on that fare are only at 50% and JAL is One World I think.

I could never get them to answer my e-mail to get a reservation to cancel. I did go into LK Renaissance and checked out the rooms when I was there. The lady at the front gave me a card with her e-mail on it (I did inform her that I tried on 4 different occasions to contact them via e-mail and never received a response) but I haven't tried it yet. We'll see.

Follow my post to find out when I book my flight and wait a few weeks after that. I'll guarantee they will be lower.

PBR was at the top of my list. A couple of things swayed me to look elsewhere (I never confirmed directly with the hotel so maybe somebody can confirm this) First was a joiner fee for more than one girl and second was the website said a 500 baht per night deposit which seemed excessive to me. I lost count of how many times I tried to contact LKRenaissance via e-mail and card. Never received a response either. You know what they say about first impressions. Fuk em, my money goes elsewhere.
