  1. My long term TGF prefers the Flipper House. Not sure why! For a four week stay in July, they quoted me 650 baht / night for the old wing. Works for me!
  2. Well Rag, I'll be in Pattaya during the month of July and then for 6 months starting mid September. I'm planning on living in Thailand for 8 - 9 months a year starting in Sept. so I shouldn't be too hard to find if you visit LOS at all.
  3. Hey Bear, I didn't say it was hard! Just didn't think there were very many out there who give a flyin' F about naming them. My former wife could name all the counties in the world and their capitols. But really, who cares about that either? Cheers!!
  4. It seems like one of them had a funny guest policy when I first looked into staying in them. I don't remember the details but were I you, I would ask about their guest policy before booking. You sure don't want a surprise like that!
  5. If you want to get a feel for what goes on behind the nightlife scene, I would recommend the two books by J. F Gump. They are "Tippawan - The Joy of Math" and ""Tropical Heat - Thailand Aftermath". They are a good read and it kind of sets the scene for your visit and interaction with the girls.
  6. Say Pete, is there a way to tell who is in town on any given date? I don't know if days prior to today are stored so you could see about when someone arrived or not. It would be nice to just click on a day and see who was around.
  7. Boy Roy, I sure got a chuckle from this post. I can just see you sitting there helping him pick his jaw up off the floor when he first gets to Pattaya. Reminds me of the first time I was driven down Beach street on one of those tourist buses. I had to be the one with my nose pressed to the window and drooling like crazy. WTF!! Hadn't a clue as far as what to expect.
  8. Thaidane, You make a good point so I went to the site and posted an update on the Stable lodge which isn't too favorable. The problem is that I did it 3 days ago and it still isn't on their listing. It doesn't do much good writing a review unless it gets posted. What's going on here? Does anyone have a clue?
  9. Actually, at last count, there were 76 Provinces in Thailand. And I will cheerfully buy a beer for anyone with enough interest to name them all correctly. How's that for a challenge that will never be taken!
  10. I've stayed at the Stable Lodge a couple of times. The last 2 times were a bit of a turnoff though so I doubt I will be back. It's a good location but it is a bit on the pricey side and the rooms are getting a bit old. Forget it if you want to shower with more than lukewarm water. Last trip, they had to move me twice before I was even reasonably satisfied and then they overcharged me from what I was quoted on the internet when I reserved a room. The first room absolutely stunk of tobacco smoke and the second, had NO hot or even warm water.
  11. Gabor, It would be a lot easier if you just supplied the link directly. Especially after having waded through your non-English site and click on the link and it comes up as a 404 -Not Found - error. No fun at all!
  12. If you are a member, you should check out the discussion on: http://www.freelancerbar.com/cgi-bin/yabb/...;num=1051180314 A lot of good information and the money situation has been discussed in detail.
  13. Seriously now, you don't really need names and addresses. They are all over the place. You will probably find that your hotel even has one. You would have to be legally blind not to stumble upon one.
  14. Both Flipper lodge and Flipper house have new amd old wings. The old wings go for about 700 a night and the new wings about 820. Depends on length of stay and season and can be a little higher for short stays or high season. Both have email and will return your requests fairly quickly. As opposed to Eastiny, who never answers my emails. Oh, I once asked about the discount offered on the bus ticket and was told that it was off the published rate. ie, about 1000 - 1200 per night. I have never been able to get them below 700 - 750 per night (low /high season) even with staying 5 weeks
  15. Hey Ray, Try their web site! http://www.evaair.com/html/global/english/gb_en_home/
  16. Hi Soi, I agree with Bob, I never use TC's anymore except as a few for backup. They are so 80's! ATM's are the way to go. Good rates, a bit of a charge for the convenience but takes less than a minute and absolutely no hassles! ATMs all over Pattaya. Look for the few that will spit out 20,000 baht at a crack to minimize transaction costs.
  17. EVA economy is about like all the rest. Too tight if you are a big person and unfortunately, their flights are full enough that it's unlikely that you will be able to spread out. BTW, for those of you who live in the States, here is another site which has proven to be useful. http://www.geocities.com/Thavery2000/
  18. No offense Winner but there are no winners in your list. RG is good but far enough away to be pain to get to late at night if you are a bit under the alcohol and with company. The others are either dogs or not in a good location. My money is on the half dozen hotels in the Soi 7 / Soi 8 complex. I side with Emil and would vote for the Flipper's or the Eastiny Hotel. (Eastiny Place has a funny guest policy) The three have good decent rooms at about half the price of the RG and the surroundings can't be beat.
  19. I bought about 20 DVDs and 5 software programs there. About half of the DVDs were useless, poor quality, or stopped midway through the program. 4 out of 5 software programs worked fine and were worth the cost of the whole deal. It's a classic "let the buyer beware situation".
  20. Once upon a time I did run across a direct flight from either LA or Seattle. It's been a while and I don't have time to do the search for you but if you try one of the big flight discounters like Orbitz(?) or Stable and just specify "non stop" you should be able to come up with the info you desire.
  21. Hi Pete and whittler, For what it's worth, I have the same problem with the two Tart's Night postings on the Member's Forum. It didn't happen the first time I viewed the post but I have never been able to get the pictures on the report again. Of course, I can still view the pictures in the Gallery so I didn't feel like it was worth bothering you about.
  22. I'm really not trying to do a one ups-manship type of thing here but those of you who can leave from San Francisco or LA (and probably New York, Seattle, and Vancouver) should really check out the EVA airlines website. http://www.evaair.com/html/global/english/gb_en_home/ I did a fairly thorough comparison before my last trip in October and discovered that while there might be travel agents that advertise cheap fares, it is murder trying to get them to respond to you especially when they realize you just want a single cheap ticket and no tours. The Eva site offers a discount for onlin
  23. As with everything else, you pretty much get what you pay for. I don't know what you are used to but the rooms are bigger than Motel 6 and I think nicer. I am fairly laid back and easy to please. I have never had any complaints about the rooms from any girl that I brought there but they all close the curtains first thing!
  24. It kind of depends on whether or not you want quiet or a view. I personally prefer the old wing of Flipper Lodge because it is quieter but the view is uninspiring. The seaview rooms in the new wing are very noisy in my opinion. I prefer the south facing rooms in the old wing and as high as possible.
  25. If you want to skip the travel agents, EVA air has its own website and I have enjoyed the cheap airfares and lack of hassles with their online eTicket system. The web site is: http://www.evaair.com/html/global/english/gb_en_home/
