  1. Notice the special promotion and what they are calling High Season are the same rates. All rates are net, inclusive of tax, service charge and American breakfast. I spent 100 baht for American breakfast. I think I'll give this place a closer look next trip.
  2. Just nit noy input. I thought I recognized the hotel name from my may/june trip. Looked at the website. Yes, that's it. I can only tell you that I ate 3 breakfasts in their restaurant. Good food, good service. Place looked dead between 10:00 and 11:00 the mornings I stopped in. Restarant and lobby were clean. I was thinking of using it as a backup hotel. TG does not have A/C. I did not check the rooms. If you try it out, let us know. It does look like a 700 baht a night hotel. Very convinent location. We are talking 20 steps to walking street.
  3. I had to register miles from my first trip with EVA online. Got Sept 6 from LAX to BKK for $628.50USD total (539 until you add the taxes) Upgraded to Evergreen Deluxe on the long legs. Cost me 40,000 miles. I noticed the price was up in the $1000+ range. If, I would have booked on Sept. 5 Blackout Dates 2004 AUG25-SEP05 DEC15-DEC31 2005 JAN01-JAN10 FEB01-FEB18 JUN25-JUL05 AUG25-SEP05 DEC15-DEC31 Finally will use my Northwest FF miles to get to LAX. I'll never go back. Normally use Southwest on that leg. Does EVA have showers in their lounges? I've used EVA ST hotel in Taipei showers for $10. Worth every penny.
  4. Soi7 Got the CH300, did the hack. Watched a PAL Parn Concert (yes Parn) DVD on NTSC tv. I'll leave the portable VCD player at home. This thing plays all. I bought a pair of mini Sony speakers at BigC last year and hooked them up to the TV at hotel. Sounds good. Thanks for the tip.
  5. I got the same thing today. I just sent an email to ottesen@loxinfo.co.th. I included all the info from the form and mentioned the FLB rate. Should not be a problem.
  6. Anyone on this flight? EVA TAIPEI-BANGKOK BR0211 2004/5/20 11:05 AM I'm headed straight to Pattaya. Willing to share a taxi or limo. Up to you.
  7. I was in Pattaya last year during CB. Everything was fine, except at the hotel, the GI's hit on my TG's. Pretty much what drunk guys do. Really no different from any of the other drunk guys in town. I got to say goodbye to a few leaving to go back home. Most of these guys were support personal and had been there for a month or more. I overheard one the TG's say to the guy she had just spent a month with. "I forget you in one hour" Later saw her and 3 of her TG friends sitting at the pool having a hell of a party. That hit home. I'm about a hair trigger away from booking a trip for May 19-June 6. I would worry more about the heat. Get a place with a nice pool and enjoy. You'll be able to spot the areas where the sailors are. There will be pairs of MP's on patrol. Last year they were restricted to certain area's. I never really saw masses of sailors. Just a few groups here and there.
  8. TG with "normal" job. You send money or I go work Japanese Karaoke. Wonder how that new job is working for her?
  9. Something to think about: http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/reader/reader578.html "In the process of "subduing" this guy he "fell" to the pavement and scraped his elbow in the process. He looked at his elbow and saw a minuscule amount of blood was seeping from a scrape the size of a pin head. He calmly looked me in the eye and said "I've got you now" in English, little did I know. Well to make a long story short we were required to go to the Thong Lor police station to straighten this all out. When we got there I learned to my horror that Thai blood is SACRED and ANY AMOUNT NO MATTER HOW SMALL SPILLED BY A NON THAI IS BIG TROUBLE. "
  10. TinTin I tried almost the same days Jan 23-27. Could not get any Sukhumvit 5* I bid as high as $75 USD. This was two weeks ago. I went back to $50 and got Marriott Bangkok Resort Spa (Riverside - Silom) This works out great for me, I like the river and the resort. The location is a plus for me.
  11. Hey Bub, if you do hear from her again you might want to send her some baht for a cell phone. Then get you a phone card. That will cut your not being able to get in touch by about half on a good day. The Thai communication infrastructure is not what I would call First World. Hope things work out. Oh, Yes I have become addicted, hooked, dependent, fixated, obsessed with, fanatic about and habituated to Thailand.
  12. humbleman, You must have missed the pool. I've seen one. It's located in the proximity of the restaurant. Been there 2 times and left late at night. 1 or 2 Baht bus were waiting out on the main road. 60 baht back to RG. I've thought about staying C&C or at Sugar Hut (PIC owners same same). Will definitely be visiting these restaurants again.
  13. I went to Pattaya Memorial Hospital at 10 AM weekday(Second Rd and Central) on June trip (last trip). Went to Information and we filled out our forms. I showed a copy of my passport for ID. TG picture ID. 10 minute wait and about 20 minutes for the test results. The nurse that took the blood did a great job of finding a vein (I've got deep ones and have had trouble in the past). The Method used is the Enzyme Immunoassay Screening Test. Do a google search on HIV EIA lots of info. Basically, if you come up positive you need a Western blot test to confirm. Looking at the Bill it was 520 baht each. No extra farang charge. TG had tubes tied so, the baby issue was a non-issue in my case. Both tests were Negative. Not that I had much doubt in the outcome. One thing about the test results they are in English. The bills on the other hand are Thai for TG and English for farang. Still had to pay both.
  14. Flew NW on the last trip and doing it again this trip. You get in late at 11:55 pm and leaving you have to catch the 6:10 am flight as Zeus has said. My incoming flight was 2 hours late waiting on the LA fight to get in (storm). Got into hotel about 3:30 am. Shower, Nana parking lot 1 beer and 15 minutes back at hotel with TG for the night. I look at it like this; less time spent in traffic coming and going at those hours. Left Pattaya at 1:30 am to BKK. I was told to do carry on and sit in front of the plane. Did both. Only problem is you get off the plan onto waiting buses which then take you to the terminal. I guess getting on the first bus helped. Less than 5 minutes at immigration. Never read anything about the bus to terminal before.
  15. Link is gone, but I had checked it out yesterday and I happened to find the cached html. Was going to pay $871 now longer flight but now paying $559 Just go to www.nwa.com and use these in ecerts RefCode pi009 CertificateNum 01201300014450 Leave May 29-June 15
  16. I was on the 6th floor (top floor) on the left. If, I had the AC going (even on low) I hardly heard any noise. Without the AC on I could hear some hammering. I'm a light sleeper and was a bit worried about all the construction going on around the area. It never bothered me. The night I left they had the roof on half way on the closest new structure.
  17. Tried to delete a double entry I made on March 6. Here's what I did. Added an enrty (1), and was able to delete it. Then made another entry (2) and added it. Then made another entry (3) and added it. Could not delete (2)
  18. For a When to visit chart see http://www.freelancerbar.com/when-to-visit.html all kinds of useful info and links on the main page. Can't help on the hotel.
  19. Lucky dog. I don't think I need to say "enjoy your trip"
  20. Thanks for the info Pete, That's interesting, I knew there was a story here. I admit my first thought was probably what every one else thinks. There must be some amazing stories about this city and it's residents. Mattelyo, I've been spending way too much time doing walks around the bahtbus map. Hope I can remember where all of these places are. I know I can find the FLB from the RG. To get Baht bus from RG to walking street walk across the road, wait for bus and get off 2 mins later at Marine Plaza, just walk through the soi and you are there on walking street. That will be my first stop.
  21. Someone please explain to me Soi BJ and why it has its name. I'm interested in the history of the Soi and how it got its name. Thanks I see TQ2 A-GO-GO not much else.
