  1. I regret now for saying anything about an apology, just for you to read it and that be the end of it. I wasn't asking for any more contact from you, only to share my side of the story. I certainly didn't need any rehashing of what has already been said. It is you evidently who cannot let this go, as this was my way of sharing to others here my side, nothing more. As to how anyone else takes it, that is up to them. If I was incorrect about my memory, maybe, but not to the extent you say. I said it was a mistake for me to share anything with anyone who doesn't understand, and being a Veter
  2. My side of the story Since I knew CB was on this forum, I thought I would try to reconnect with him, after he sent me this email to me back in Pattaya at that time. I wanted to straighten out any bad feelings, and if he still felt that way, then I could put closure to it. I try to see the best in people and know that we sometimes say things in haste. That was all I was trying to do. At first he didn’t know who I was. I then clarified why with a PM to him and he did not reply. Now, I would rather have a reply, even to tell me to take a hike than nothing at all and CB didn’t. I admit, I
  3. Yes I believe it was a 300ER, an it is a long haul!
  4. Are they still using those 747's? When I flew out of LAX in 2010, it was on a 777.
  5. If it's anything like the addicts change, it will be too slow. Thay have so much advertising and shit on there, it takes forever to navigate.
  6. For 17,000/month, what is the minimum stay?
  7. Unfortunately or not, I am not in Thailand right now, back in the US. Got me thinking about buying another laptop if I cannot solve my problem inexpensively.
  8. Yes I can play music and movies no problem
  9. Thank you all for the advice here. As far as the lens cleaning, I use a disc to clean the lens. I did seem to have an issue with some of the Thai blanks while on my last trip. Am using Memorex blanks here in the US. I will try the last two suggestions here. Would using an external burner solve the problem?
  10. I have had a problem off and on burning CD's using Windows Media Player and other third party burners I have downloaded. Lately cannot burn with Windows and using a third party called "Ashampoo", it said that the process was successful but afterwards found out the disc was empty. I have an Asus laptop which I've had since 2004. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I stay in a condo in Jomtien on my trips and when I head down to Pattaya, I take the baht bus and they works out fine for me. Later in the evening however I will take a motorcyle taxi as they are much quicker to get back. Otherwise I have to wait on a bus that are lined up on 2nd road and wait till they are filled up, which is a pain in the ass. There was only one time during the afternoon one day the a driver took too many chances and was going too close in between cars. Other than that one time, I have been satisfied with their driving. They usually ask between 40 and 60 baht for the di
  12. Never got sick from a foodcart on the street, I usually relied on my girlfriend to buy it. I was out with a mate one afternoon in an outdoor bar and was leery about ordering from a cart nearby. He lives here and told me that it was safe as it was busy. The one time I got really sick was a packaged meal from the market there across from Wonderful 1 bar, it has pretty much all western food. I think it was beef stew.
  13. I flew my first two trips on Eva and the stopover in Taipei was only two hours, and it was a 777 the last time, so wondering why you think it was longer than any of the others.
  14. In my three trips, I brought my laptop to do all my banking with no problems. I used a cable modem connection though in my condo and the second trip condo had no internet so had to go to "cafe" on main floor to use their cable connection. My research about the Wifi is that you need to have a secure password to be safe. For the more experienced guys here, do they give you a secure one to use there?
  15. I've heard of the book the "Big Mango", but never heard of Bkk called that.
  16. In a recent contact with someone I met on my first trip in 2008, and was living in Pattaya, has recently moved to Bangkok. He listed some personal reasons that he would be closer to things that were essential to him there, but then he said "Pattaya is becoming a sewer of epic proportions and the Russian mob and other eurotrash are making it worse". I know this is completely subjective on his part, but would like to hear viewpoints of the boardmembers here.
  17. It's not knee jerk, just a reply that many of us feel to be true. Anyway it was meant to be all in good fun, just like the guys from UK joke with one another. "MM", you're taking my comment too seriously, LOL, LOL
