  1. I used to use Kiss food at the bottom of soi Diana until I saw one of the staff picking her nose with one hand and stacking plates with the other, I also got ripped off in there one day but didnt realise until I was back in my room, they short changed me but said I had to tell them then no good later.
  2. Yes I guess it can be done on the cheap but many people use the exchange system and it works well, I can buy a book in Canterbury Tales Bookshop that was 350 baht in Asia books a few days before for 160 baht and then get 50% of that back in credit when I have read it thus reading a very recently published book for about 1 pound 50 gbp where it was 7 quid from Asia books. Also when I buy new books maybe at the airport at least I can trade it in at the Canterbury and very rare that I go in there and they dont have any books I have not read, they have just about all books by all the main Authors
  3. Me and the Lady occasionally use the Thai buffet along 3rd road just along from Tony's gym, its the cook yourself type, you go to the middle area where all the fresh meats are, chicken, pork, beef, liver, kidney, fish, prawns etc etc, they also have chicken drumsticks and various other bits ready cooked as well as a whole fish can be ordered ready cooked. You then get the small barbie thing at your table and just add the meat and a few mins and its cooked, then eat and put veg in the stock around the edge and then you have a nice soup, one thing to remember though is when you take off cooked
  4. There are some good deals around if you have time to trawl the net.
  5. Yes apparently he went back to the USA a year ago or so.
  6. I have been to this place before, very hard to find by the way and occasionally they have something I am looking for but nothing like the choice of Canterbury Tales, even tops bookshop has a better choice, as for inflated prices, last time I was in the Canterbury shop I bought Lost sybol by Dan Brown, retail 18,99 quid for 180 baht, The girl who kicked the Hornets nest by Steig Larsson retail 390baht in Asia books for 160baht & Our kind of Traitor by Jon Le Carr retail 18,99 quid for 180 baht, as well as several others by Vince Flynn & James Patterson that I had not read and all with t
  7. Someone told me this company has folded, ?? is it true, >???
  8. it didnt look like that in the picture when I had it, I dont like the fatty bacon too, the sausage wasnt bad but the hash brown had shrunk somewhat and the toast is the small thai stuff. Not bad though for the money
  9. Try to have a couple of 10 bahts at all times for baht busses as they sometimes drive off without giving change if you give them 20
  10. I have used them 3 times now, very good service all round.
  11. Pop round to see Dave at Canterbury Tales he has them in every room and has a couple spares in case of breakdowns he will probably rent you one.
  12. I normally stay at Canterbury Tales Cafe, reason being the rooms are a good price, the food is good, the book choice/price is 2nd to none in Pattaya and the regulars very knowledgeable about Pattaya. There is a mix of ex-pats and holiday makers as well as a steady flow of newbies who stay there, we normally put on the right track when they are there, most days between 10am & 2pm the place is full out front and great banter and many of the local opposition cannot offer what Canterbury Tales offers. The best thing about the books is the choice and price and Dave offers the best exchange ra

  17. Soi Bauhkow can be a bit noisy as its such a busy area now but many of the off shoots from it are OK, I normally stay at Canterbury Tales Cafe and no noise problems there, so good bars in this soi too now.

  19. OK Sure, I read about half a book a day and I also noticed lots more Coben books on the shelf, also I know if you go in and dont find what you want Dave will hold a list and when in will SMS you or email, it works well and a few I was after before I arrived Dave got in and saved for me. Just email him.
  20. I buy books often from there but I do stay there so I would do, there are so many and yesterday I noticed just about every Harlen Coben book on the shelves and I am a fan and all his new ones were there, I have 3 of them now.
  21. Its easy just scroll past them.....he is not the first Loonie to try to make himself famous, isnt it enough him dressing like a Queer and ponsing round town..............
  22. Yes mate understood, I think the Queens English went out with the Ark many years ago, of course accents from many places are hard to understand.
  23. Tony's is very well equipped, I use the one at the end of soi Chaiapoon, not expensive as I joined 3 years ago on a special deal.
  24. Metro has no character, its all very concrete and a couple of good bars but many bar owners spend most of their time slagging off all other bars and bar owners, so much so that many people I have talked to stay away. Yes its quiet because of that, the biggest problem with these type of bars is they have girls working downstairs and they ply for your business and if they dont get it they drop snide remarks to the girls you bring back and even try to mess it up for you. Some have parties to try to draw custom and there is noise from that and its all very closed in so booms all over, one or
